This was an interesting read. And a new author for me. I got a copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my review.

The book gave me some things to try in my lifelong battle with insomnia.

It was easy to read and interesting.

Thank you NetGalley for the complimentary arc in exchange for an honest review.

Patricia has a great conversational style of writing that made me feel more like the book was a talk with her about my sleep issues and how some tricks in the book would work and may not work. She walks you through practical strategies to get the sandman back to working with you for healthy sleep habits.

This was a really interesting book and I will be putting some of the ideas into practice as I do suffer insomnia from time to time. Very useful.

Patricia Hinkley's book "Chasing Sleep" won't put the reader to sleep! So many people I know struggle with insomnia and I look forward to telling them to read "Chasing Sleep" so this book can help them because it helped me.

These days there are many insomnia-related self-help books. I've bought quite a few of them. What sets "Chasing Sleep" apart from the rest is that the author, a psychotherapist, approaches insomnia differently. Namely, she encourages the reader to concentrate on achieving a greater peace of mind which will translate into better quality sleep. The reader cannot be passive - there are actions that must be taken to do this, but Ms. Hinkley is encouraging. The interviews with people affected by insomnia were insightful as well.

I loved the idea of this book. Sleep, the need for it and the lack of it, by so many is such a huge topic now and like so many others, it's a topic that I find myself drawn to.
Chasing Sleep is well thought out, the break down of chapters, the research and the general thrust of the book are all sound. There is no mumbo jumbo here and while much of what the book contains has been cited elsewhere, it is still worth a read.
However, I'm not sure if it was the fault of my technology or not, I transferred directly to kindle (never had a difficulty before) but the spacing was completely out. It made the book very hard to read, I'm happy to look at a revised copy or stand corrected, but as is, since the content is excellent, but the format is poor, I can't review this book fairly on shopping sites.
Would recommend highly, apart from the spacing / formatting issues. Four stars for the authors' hard work and dedication to her topic.

This book is great for anyone that suffers from not being able to get a restful night's sleep. The author interviewed several people that have problems sleeping and provided insight into ways to help achieve better sleep. I have started a journal as suggested and am hoping to find the patterns to my sleepless nights and work on them. Great book!
