When I started this book I didn't realize that I was starting in the middle of the series. The story captivated my attention with all of the small town charm and the characters and I didn't want to put it down. The Colorado town was beautifully described and made me wish that is was someplace that I could visit. The characters were so genuine that I cared deeply about them throughout the story. There were some complex issues explored in the story and they were expertly handled by the author. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I can't wait to go back and catch up on the other books in this series as well as the others that she has written.

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Best of Us is the fourth book in the Sullivan's Crossing series by Robyn Carr. With each new book, you become more invested in the town and characters. The characters are multi-generational and you will discover their unique stories among the pages. Not only are the characters relatable but a bit crazy too. You will find romance, family dynamics and conflicts that develop throughout the story. As always, Robyn keeps the reader engaged and wanting more!

The Best of Us has everything that fans of Robyn Carr have come to love: small town, stand alone novel yet a series, love story, everyone coming out as the best version of themselves after a little bit of drama. The Sullivans Crossing series has all the key components of Virgin River, just with a whole new cast of characters to love!

I thought she could never top the Virgin River and Thunder Point series, but Carr's Sullivan's Crossing is a new favorite. . I was happy to catch up with and to see Maggie's Dad, Sully (from the first book) have a love interest with Helen, such an interesting character. Carr likes to pair couples that seem unlikely at first but ultimately fit together perfectly even with all the twists and turns life throws at you. Read at your own peril, because it will only make you hungry for more in the series!

The Best of Us introduces us to Leigh and Helen, two wonderful women who share a very special bond. Having brought Leigh up, Helen tries to find her space, once her niece is all grown up. As Leigh tries to break away from her stressful life and deal with moving away from her aunt, Helen, we see that the both of them have to accept the change. The story is well written and we watch as the main characters interact with their new surroundings and the new people around them. They have to adapt to each other as adults and accept who they are now! The author shows us the importance of acceptance and maintaining relationships, especially those with family.

Once again we are back at Sullivan's Crossing for another feel-good tale of love, good people and a lot of fun. This book is a must read for fans of romance novels!

I don't have a ton to say about this one, but Robyn Carr is definitely a favorite over here. Sullivan's Crossing keeps getting better and better. Each character introduced is one you either want to date or become friends with. I hope she never stops writing.

Robyn Carr books are consistently a nice warm hug of a book and this one is no different. Much like her popular Virgin River series, being able to follow a town and a group of people through life and their happy and sad moments is always such a welcome feeling when starting a book.

This was such a charming little read with perfect characters. I loved the setting and the overall story and how charming it was to read this. I fell in love with setting and wish I lived in a little place like Sullivan's Crossing. I loved reading this one and look forward to more!

The Best of Us is a nice continuation of the Sullivan's Crossing series.  It was a little slow going for me initially because I wasn't connecting with Leigh at all since she seemed to be living in the past and was a little standoffish.  That all changed when she and  Rob, the widowed pub owner, started acting on their attraction.  His two sons, Finn and Sean along with Finn's girlfriend, Maia, were an important part of the story and added another layer.  Leigh's aunt, Helen, plays by her own rules until she's waylaid by Sully and neither of them know what hit them.  Helen and Leigh have a special relationship since Helen raised her and she's more like a mom to her than an aunt.  I like how Helen is no-nonsense around her and lays her thoughts and feelings on the line.  The quotes at the end of each chapter piqued my interest!

It was nice to reconnect with Sully and his family whom we've met before.  Once again the descriptions of the campground and the lake made me feel that I was there.  There were a few twists and turns to the story and  most were woven into the story nicely except for Leigh's former best friend and fiance, Johnny, who tried to muddy the waters in Timberlake but his story just seemed to drift off and disappear.  There was a nice happily ever after but the story ended too abruptly for me since there seemed to be more story to tell.  An epilogue would have been nice.

Sullivan's Crossing is a place I would like to visit. I wouldn't mind returning over and over again if we get to catch up with everyone.  The cover of the book definitely drew me in! Carr is an author who is always on my radar but I haven't read many of her books.  I hope to rectify that, not only with this series, but others she's written.

I have so much love for each and every Robyn Carr book, this book was no different. I loved this one so much I went out as soon as it was released and added it to my favs bookshelf. The characters in this story were ones that I really connected to and rooted for. Like most of her books, I enjoyed her writing style and plot so much. I couldn't put this one down.

It's always a treat to enter the world Robyn Carr creates, and Sullivan's Crossing is epically sweet. The small town becomes almost a character as well as the setting in the series. Robyn spends a lot of time creating the atmosphere and peopling it with complex and quirky characters. The Best of Us is an entertaining read, but I felt perhaps there was too much going on and the overall experience suffered. There are three romantic couples, each interesting in their own right, but I wanted more experiences with each couple. I would have liked the focus on two couples and only the hint of a third and perhaps the next book. I recommend the series to readers of Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery.
I look forward to the next installment.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

A welcome return to Sullivan's Crossing with some VERY welcome new characters. I love the new additions and the new twists that this story takes the series, and I really look forward to reading more in the series!

While reading this, although I enjoyed it, I thought it moved a bit too slowly. Dr. Leigh Culver, who was raised by her Aunt is now living in a small Colorado town working as the local physician. She makes a few local friends but Rob seems to be the stand out guy, asking her out on a date. Without giving too much away, both Aunt Helen and Leigh will have to decide if they're ready to open themselves up to a new life... and love.

I liked the story and especially loved some of the quotes at the beginning (or end? the formatting was weird on the Kindle) of the chapters.

Terrific look at finding love in different phases of life - from the teenage years to ... well ... of a certain age. I enjoyed every romance thread in this book, and there were a few of them! I also liked how Carr (as usual) made the story realistic by surrounding the main characters with their families.

What made this particular book special was Dr Leigh. She was a smart and capable heroine. Carr wrote a few out of character moments for Leigh, but mostly I loved her and her relationship with fiesty & independent Aunt Helen. They started out as close as a mother and daughter, and after a little roller coaster ride, came out the other side even closer. That’s what Sullivan’s Crossing can do.

Took me a little while to get to this book but once I did, I LOVED IT!
It was easy to read, entertaining and a beautiful love story. If you want sweet and slow but passionate, this is for you! I have been reading books by Robyn Carr for a while now & this one did not disappoint!
HAPPY READING!

Sullivan's Crossing is a fun place to visit and this is book 4 in that series. Leigh is a doctor taking a short term assignment at the Sullivan's Crossing emergency clinic to get over a bad breakup. She was raised by her Aunt Helen who is coming for a visit to get away from the terrible Chicago winter. This is a duel love story as they both find men who make them happy. This can be read as a stand alone story but it's nice to see characters from previous books find love of their own. Sweet and an easy read. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was my first visit to Sullivan's Crossing, and I really enjoyed my stay.
The story does not center around one of the Jones' sibling this time. It's the new doctor in town that gets all the attention this time, especially from pub owner Rob. They make a cute couple and seem perfect together, but each of them has their own reasons for wanting to take things slow.

All of the main characters from the previous books make at least a short appearance, but you really don't need to have read them in order to understand this story. Sully makes sure that the reader knows about the relationships in his family.

I found the writing very easy to read. Sometimes too easy, actually. There are paragraphs where three sentences in a row start with "And...", later there was a passage full of sentences starting with "They..." or "Then...". It felt like an enumeration of things happening instead of a narration. Fortunately this didn't strike my eye too often, for the most part I liked the style of Robyn Carr. The story was great, too. My favorite scene in the whole book was the surprise dinner arranged by Finn and Sean, that was really cute!

(Audio length: 8 hours and 36 minutes)
Genre: contemporary, fiction, romance, small towns

(Review Not on Blog)

RATING: 4 STARS

I really enjoyed the latest novel in the Sullivan's Crossing series! While I enjoyed Rob and Leigh's story...Sully and Helen's story was the one that warmed my heart. I have been wondering since book one if he would find someone or if there would even be a hint of a romance. I like Helen, who is also Leigh's aunt (and her guardian as a child), and love Sully so the two of them together are a great balance. Carr also does a great job with the relationship between Leigh and Helen. I cannot wait for the next book as we get to visit with all characters. I am a huge fan of Robyn Carr, and have read most of her contemporary romances set in small towns. I find them as a perfect escape from reality.

***I received an eARC from EDELWEISS and NETGALLEY***

~~Reviewed by Evelyn~~

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I decided to read THE BEST OF US by Robyn Carr, the fourth novel in her Sullivan’s Crossing series. I have never read one of her books before, but I had heard good things about her. I also liked the description of the book, but in the end, did I like the book? I’m not sure.

I liked Timberlake, CO, the small fictional mountain town that served as the setting for the book. As a life-long Colorado resident, I know many small towns that could have been Timberlake. It seemed very real, as did the campground run by Sully, one of the book’s most colorful characters. I did not like that the author did not really seem familiar with Colorado geography. Some of the places that the characters went for different services did not seem logical. Debating between going out for dinner in Aurora or Colorado Springs? Really? Very distracting for any locals that may be reading.

I liked the hero, Rob Shandon, who owned the local pub. He was a widower with two teenagers, and he was kind, thoughtful and caring. I didn’t particularly like the heroine, Leigh Culver, who I felt was a bit selfish and immature. I’ll give her credit for being a doctor, but at age 34 she is still allowing a failed high school romance to control her life. I also really didn’t like a certain plot twist that, well, let’s just say shouldn’t have happened to a 34-year-old doctor.

I liked the secondary romance between Helen and Sully. I also liked the secondary romance of Maia and Finn, but I didn’t like that Maia seemed to drop off the planet about half-way through the book after I was very invested in her story.

If I add up the likes and dislikes, it appears to be a toss-up so I will give THE BEST OF US three stars. I’ll give this author another chance with her next book, but if it’s in this same series, I’m hoping she studies a Colorado map before it’s published!

I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and the views expressed are my honest opinions.
