Cannot recommend to students because they would have to get a NetGalley account in order to see the Buzz Books, but I always love reading these monthly feeds. Excited about the Diane Chamberlain book. Always great to see what is coming and get a preview excerpt. My home library continues to grow after reading these.
I never have anything bad to say about these books because it gives you a sneak peek into upcoming releases. There is always a good mix of authors being featured along with release dates. Being able to read excepts definitely gives it another element because there have been books I wasn't sure about buying and then having those few chapters ended up selling me on the book.
I love these because most of the time I discover a book coming out that I didn't know about at first or some hidden gems. It's a great resource to keep you updated on upcoming books.
I wish you would bring back the monthly version of these
I really enjoy these hints into what I should preorder and reserve from my library! Definitely worth checking out.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoy reading the buzz books to help add books to my to-read list.
Fantastic as always! Sorry I forgot to rate this earlier, but I am still working off the list and enjoying may of the titles!. Keep them coming! Thanks!
So many great books to add to my TBR! I love these previews. It's a great way to get introduced to the new books that will be coming out soon!
There are seven titles featured in this monthly Buzz Books sampler—three of which I’m eyeing up.
Of the seven, five were featured in the Fall/Winter collection; so if you’re like me and read all of the monthly and specialty Buzz Books releases, you might feel this is a little repetitive.
These samplers are simply amazing. Love hearing about the books coming out and being able to read excerpts adds to the excitement! I always look forward to these Buzz books, makes me feel like an insider knowing I can contribute to the buzz, by being in the know. Keep them coming please.
I really liked this because it allowed to view several different synopsises (synopsisi??) for books across a variety of genres, and I found and marked several books that I am very interested in reading in the future. Wouldn’t really call it a ‘book’ though. More of a catalog.
This is the monthly edition of Buzz Books, which details what books are being published during the month. It's divided into listed sections:
1. Extra Attention: This is the same format as the normal Buzz Books, but with a few more words about the book being mentioned. Authors listed here were Markus Zusak ("Bridge of Clay"), Susan Orlean ("The Library Book") and Kiese Laymon ("Heavy").
2. Literary Favorites and Debut Fiction: Authors listed here included Chaya Bhuvaneswar ("White Dancing Elephants"), Leif Enger ("Virgin Wander") and Louisa Hall ("Trinity")
3. Commercial Fiction: Authors included Sara Blaedel ("The Midnight Witness), Michael Harvey ("Pulse"), Debbie Macomber ("The Alaskan Holiday") and Anne Rice ("Blood Communion").
4. Nonfiction: Stephen L. Carter ("Invisible"), Pope Francis ("God Is Young") and R. J. Young ("Let It Bang").
It then goes week by week, which is entirely too helpful for my book hoarding tendencies!
All excerpts appeared in the Fall/Winter 2018 edition of Buzz Books, so they might be re-reads for some people.
A great array of titles in a great format! So appreciate the Buzz Books Monthly offerings.
Thanks to Publishers Lunch and NetGalley for the ARC.
Great selection of title as always. I added quite a few to my TBR list and am looking forward to reading them upon release.
Good content, enjoyed reading the teasers. I like the option to view books this way, I hope they keep doing these.
BuzzBook is always a precious guide and voyage through the upcoming books. Really helpful to decide what to read next.
Love these! It's fun to get a chance to read extended excerpts of buzz books. I love the variety. I know that if I enjoy an excerpt I'll request the book from my local library. This collection did not disappoint.
I was so excited for the opportunity to read an ARC of this new book. I was drawn in from the first chapter and could hardly put it down! Highly recommend!
Thank you Netgalley and Buzzbooks for this ARC.
I eagerly await these monthly publications to add to my ever toppling TBR list. Thank you for more exciting titles to look into.
Useful preview of books to come, helps with finding new releases and new authors for blog posts and for personal reading/recommendations.
These are always my favorite because they shed light on many books that I haven't heard hyped about on instagram.
The magazine was useful in terms of knowing what books are coming out soon but not very helpful in terms of knowing whether I, as a bookseller, would want to buy them.
The introduction was very good but I was disappointed to only find a list of books inside. I was expecting to see a short synopsis that would help me to decide whether my customers may enjoy the book or not and therefore buy the book. I am always looking to discover new authors but if all I have to go on is the name of the book it doesn’t give me anything to decide if I will give them a go. I know I can go and look on the publishers website to read the synopsis but I would have thought the point of a magazine like this is to have all the information in one place to make me want to pick it up every month.
A star rating system would also be helpful so that I know someone at Buzz Books Monthly has read these books and given some thought about whether they are good are not. I appreciate this is subjective but I am looking for more added value than a simple list of books. If they give it a good rating I would also be more likely to give an unknown author a try.
Lastly, to finish off on a good note, the excerpts from a selection of books was great. This really does give me the feeling that they have considered the books and hand selected the ones to feature.
Overall, it currently covers the basics but I would be looking for more before buying this every month and there are already others out there doing this so there is a lot of competition and I would need to see something unique to make me choose this over what I am already using.
