I've only read some of this book but already I am determined to finish it. There are few writers on the market (Robert Roliah comes to mind) who successfully manage to convince you that finance is, ultimately, not that difficult but has been made so by the people in the financial world. It is, after all, in their best interests to convince you that you cannot do it yourself.

Cherished Fortune uses the analogy of comparing managing your investments to managing a small business. In a small business you have to know what everything does and what it's value and function are. The authors suggest you only invest in what you understand (which is what, I believe, Warren Buffet says) and asks you to understand 'how it works' i.e. how is the money actually made? This makes me think back to the .com bubble (I was there!) and how the firm I worked for 'do72' had investment money but was basically making money based on hype - i.e. it basically wasn't making any money yet!

I look forward to finishing the book and suspect that I will be a book evangelist for this one. Thanks guys!
