A creative and great collection of recipes based on Amazon Prime's award-winning show. Absolutely wonderful if you are doing a themed party or looking for snacks while you binge watch.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC. This poor excuse for a tie in cookbook should be avoided. Any even joke Jewish about the 1950s would never have any recipes with mayonnaise. The show and folks looking for time period appropriate recipes both deserve better.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has millions of devotees, and Anthony LeDonne has compiled recipes that are mentioned in the series, or were popular during the time that the series takes place in Eat Like a Maisel: The Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

There is a section on cocktails, with LeDonne’s fun vignettes above the recipes. Next, is the section on appetizers which play a large part on the show. Some of the best are French Onion Dip (not even close to the dip made from onion soup mix), Gougères, and Chive and Cheddar Scones. The section on soups, sandwiches, and salads includes innovative and mouthwatering recipes that everyone will want to make. Side dishes include several kugel recipes, including a delicious Noodle Kugel “Bacon & Eggs” which is incredible. Blistered Green Beans and Butter Roasted Carrots, as well as Risotto with Tomatoes, Feta, and Paprika and an interesting Hangover Mac & Cheese.

Main dishes include a flavorful Jewish brisket and Schnitzel and Watercress. No Jewish cookbook would be complete without a primer on Roast Chicken and LeDonne’s instructions make it easy to prepare a perfect one. Then there are the desserts: A graham-cracker based cookie/candy called Zugnut is delicious, and the Chocolate Almond Cake is moist and luscious. Everyone loves rugelach, and LaDonne’s version of Brown Butter Rugelach is perfect.

The cookbook includes great Jewish recipes and non-Jewish recipes. Kreplach and chopped liver are two that are excellent.

This cookbook includes excellent photographs and easy-to-follow instructions to make picture-perfect dishes. LeDonne’s personality comes through in the vignettes that head each of the recipes. He makes it fun, and definitely adds something to how fans view the series. Since the series has so many food scenes, this book is very timely and helpful for those who want to recreate what their favorite characters are eating.

All told, fans of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will love this book, and others, who like to cook vintage recipes will also love it. It’s fun, and the recipes are excellent.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I enjoyed reading this cookbook. Recipes are based on the TV show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The recipes are fun and easy to follow. Many of the retro recipes are updated. The photographs that accompany the recipes are beautiful. Fans of the show would have loved making these dishes. Unfortunately the book does not appear to be for sale anywhere.

The television series has been a huge it and anyone who loves it will love this cookbook. It not only gives you the many delicious recipes you have seen on the show, it gives you stories and pictures that will make you smile. So you are getting two gifts in one. My cookbook library needed this addition.

Feels a little rushed to market for the die-hard Mrs. Maisel fans before Christmas or Hanukkah, but full of interesting photos and facts and recipes. (I would consider purchasing this title for our library, but neither our book wholesaler nor Amazon--creators of the show on which it's based--have it available.)

Season 2 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is coming to Netflix December 5th and Anthony LeDonne has the brisket ready with his new book Eat Like a Maisel.  As a comedian and fan of the show, LeDonne does his best to give readers the chance to eat what the Maisel's would eat. There are drink options, traditional Jewish fare like latke and rugellah, the wonders of the black and white cookie, and a whole drink menu.

The pictures are lovely and the recipes fairly easy to follow. LeDonne opens each recipe with a brief reference to the show and why he chose to include it. Not every receipe is something you've seen on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but the thought behind each keeps with the tie in.

Eat Like a Maisel is now available from Skyhorse Publishing.

Strangely, this book is no longer appearing on any website for sale.

Fans of the show, the Marvelous Mrs Maisel, will know that there's more than just comedy in the show- there's food- a LOT of it. Not only is the show set in NYC, but the Maisels are Jewish. Yup, there's gotta be food around. Most of the recipes may seem like holdovers from a kitschy past, but let's just admit it- they are SO SO good, that you really DO want to chow down on a pan of the infamous Maisel Mac n Cheese after a holiday party too! Many of these recipes in fact are PERFECT for the holidays, especially if you're going to a Christmas Sweater party! Ledonne's intros and stories perfectly fit with the light heartedness of the show, and this is a wonderful gift to give during the holiday season, as a hostess gift or for the fan who loves the show!

As a lover of this wonderful new series, as soon as I saw that there was a Maisel inspired cookbook I knew I had to read it! I was NOT disappointed. A very nice compilation of recipes of foods featured on, as well as inspired by, the show. The author also includes a list of kitchen items to have - he keeps it very simple which is fine by me, I see absolutely nothing wrong with using just a very few basic tools to get the job done! The recipes are well written and beautifully photographed, and the stories and commentary are a very nice addition. I really enjoyed reading Eat Like a Maisel, and am looking forward to trying many of the recipes (first up - the very delectable looking Chocolate Almond Cake!). 5 stars!!!
