I received an ARC of this novel through Netgalley in exchange for my review. I haven’t read anything by Tara Sue Me before, but based upon this novel I will be looking into other novels by her. This was a classic story of friends who were too afraid to mess up their friendship by dating, so the plot is nothing new, but the characters were so well described and there was so much chemistry between them that it was a really good story. The only thing preventing me from giving it five stars, was the ending felt really rushed. I’m looking forward to reading more from Tara Sue Me.

A fun, quick read from Tara Sue Me. I would have liked to have had each of the main characters have one bad date and one good date so that things weren't quite so unbalanced.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. This was a very sweet and cute romantic read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I wish there would've been a little more to the ending like an extended epilogue.

In “The Date Dare” by Tara Sue Me we meet Darcy and Elliott. They have been best friends since they were eight – now in their late twenties they think they each know who the other should date – so on a dare they set each other up with their “perfect match”. But they soon realize that their forever might have been right in front of them all along.

I received a copy of this book through Net Galley and this is my honest review.

I was really excited to read this one as the synopsis sounded fun and intriguing.

Sadly, it did not hit the mark for me. It had so much potential, but felt like a major flop.

It more or less just felt like a log of thoughts and conversations. There was so much talking, even some useless conversations that had no purpose.

I found that a lot of details were either left out or lacking and sometimes something would happen without an explanation.
How did Darcy know to go to the treehouse? He never told her that was his plan and it should have been something asked, "How did you know this was where I was taking you?" Or something.

It also really irked me that Darcy was so naive towards Elliott.
Even during they're date, after he has pulled her into his lap and is holding her, she is convincing herself that he doesnt have feelings for her. And I'm sorry, but you're on a date!! Why are you reading and falling asleep??

The thing I liked most was the idea behind the story, but for the most part, it just didn't work for me. I really had to force myself to finish this one - blame curiosity and my inability to DNF.

I really had trouble getting into the book initially and getting caught up in the emotions of the characters. The storyline was good, but it just didn’t stand out in my mind amongst other books in the genre. The blurb was great, but overall the book just fell flat for me.

3.5 stars

The Date Dare was different from anything I have ever read from Tara Sue Me, and different isn’t bad. Darcy and Elliot have that chemistry that you expect from her books, although it’s a short book, it’s a slow burn. This was a good friends to lovers story, but it really was a slow burn, which I like, but there was too much time spent with Darcy and Tate. I liked Tate, but the time focusing on his and Darcy’s relationship left me wanting to get back to Elliot. If there was a little more focus on Darcy and Elliot, it would of easily been a 4 star read

The premise of this story is a favorite of mine. Friends to lovers is usually great for the unfolding and changes to feelings, however, I only felt Elliott's thoughts truly sent this message.
I found it refreshing that the male protagonist was the one in emotional turmoil with his feelings for Darcy, the female lead, but sadly I didn't get the same intensity when it came to her POV.
I also had a problem with the seemingly rushed ending. The build up was huge and then it ended with some declarations and boom! HEA.
As some other reviewers have commented, I felt Darcy and Elliott spent too much time apart so I never knew if their dynamic really worked.
Overall though the writing is very good and the story does progress well. I would consider reading the next book in the series just to see if the secondary character finds love also.

This is my first Tara Sue Me, but I’ve heard of her through friends. So I was looking forward to this book.
Well I’m here to say I loved this book. I just adore how she mixes steamy romance with wit and a little sweetness

The Date Dare is another Tara Sue Me gem. This feel good tale is a heart breaker with an irresistible couple. Elliott and Darcy have always counted on each other to get them through the big stuff. Their friendship has helped them endure heartache, humiliation and so many other milestones in their lives.Darcy Patrick and Elliott Taber, two delightful people have been best friends for over twenty years and in that time have supported and helped each other with the many joys and tribulations of school life and growing up. A great book for sure.

Oh my gosh I loved this novel. I loved that Darcy and Elliott had been friends since they were six years old. I loved the dialogue and banter. This novel sucked me in from the very first page and did not let me go. I found myself forcing myself to stop reading only to pick the novel right back up. I love a slow burn. I was rooting for Elliott, and at times wanted to shake both of them and tell them to snap out of it and look at what is in front of you. I loved it! I love a novel that can make you laugh, cry and ultimately leave you with a smile on your face.

Elliott and Darcy have been best friends for 20 years.. They have been through everything together and know each other better than anyone else.. When Darcy is tired of seeing Elliott dating the wrong women she dares him to let her set him up on a date.. He agrees but only if he can set her up too.

Meanwhile they both realize they want to be with each other but Darcy's date goes really well and she wants to give him a chance but can she truly do that knowing Elliott is who she really wants? Will Elliott finally let Darcy know his feelings?

First read of this author and loved the style of the writing..

Book introduces some good side characters.. Hope to see more of them

Elliot and Darcy have known each other forever. They grew up together and have always had a great friendship. When they decide to set each other up with the "perfect" date Elliot is extremely successful. He has found the perfect guy for Darcy. Problem is....he's realized that he is completely in love with her. Will Elliot reveal his true feelings? Is it too late for him? Get a copy of The Date Dare by Tara Sue Me and enjoy the journey!

This was a first for me from the author and I was not disappointed. I easily related to this book.

I found some situations hilarious and was able to complete the story in a short time - it was short, fun and to the point. I know this will not be the only book from Tara that I will now take up.

Awww, omg. This was a fun read, it definitely hooked me from the start!

Darcy and Elliot have been friends since they were 7. Their feelings have been platonic for so long but in a split second Elliot realizes his are more. But of course, he doesn’t want to risk losing Darcy’s.

One thing I really didn’t like was that title gives the book away, soo it was predictable at times. So, one day they’re hanging out with one of Elliot’s ‘girlfriends’, and Darcy basically tells Elliot, ‘wtf are you doing? You’re totally dating the wrong type of girls.’ So she dares him, that Shea’s going to find someone suitable for him to date, and well, he gets to do the same for her. The dating dare between them starts to get serious for Darcy, Elliott needs to man up. So how does he find the nerve to tell his best friend he’s in love with her without losing her? Well, you’ll have to find out…

Even though it was predictable, it was romantic, and I really did enjoy reading it. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. I recommend it!

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I wanted to. I was a huge fan of Tara's back when he wrote fanfiction--she was one of my very first stories in the Twilight fandom. I haven't been able to get on board with her original fiction though. This one, for me, felt a little cheesy. Great premise, and I was really excited to read Darcy and Elliott's love story, but it kind of came off a little bit...cheesy? I'm not sure how to describe it, but this one was not for me.

Friends to lovers...
Darcy can always depend on Elliot for anything. He was best friend she ever has. She never thought she would be feel different toward him. She was afraid she would loose her friendship with him so she suggest a dare.
Elliot never backs down from a dare and especially from his bestie Darcy and is to find each other a perfect date.
Now Elliot decided to find .a perfect date for Darcy except he finally realized his feeling for Darcy.
Elliots and Darcy finds dates for each other except they won't reveal feeling for each other.

It was sweet and fun read about friends to lover story. It was sweet and fun. I loved the chemistry between Elliott and Darcy.

What I liked: This went pretty much just as I expected it would...and that's a good thing!
What I loved: This was a quick, easy read. A nice palate cleanser after reading some other heavier books.
What I hated: Can't say there wasn't anything about this too hate.

Overall - A nice, light read.
