Overall I liked the premise of this story. Five friends go on a trip to Europe and our leading lady finds a summer fling in Scotland. What’s not to love?

Actually a lot.

Our hero Logan is kind of an Immature man child. Now I understand that’s an intentional character choice and that’s something he needs to overcome in the story, but some of his behavior is inexcusable and I feel that the heroine forgave him too easily.
This book had some great feminist views about romance and working women, but...some more issues from Logan needed to be addressed.

I feel like it had some much potential but some of the good just outweighed the bad

I had had my eye on this baby for a bit before review copies went up. I'm just such a sucker for a good accent haha.

Bit this one didn't disappoint.
It was cute. It was romantic. It has some spice.
It just is one of those romance books you can let yourself get lost in. And finish it wanting more haha.

A 5 star read for me

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy of Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson.

This was a very average contemporary romance novel about an American tv personality who meets a Scottish tv prankster and sparks fly. But sparks didn’t really fly. The relationship developed really fast and it was complete insta-lust from the moment they met. There was some tension around the release of the video of their meeting but it was a silly non-issue and barely a reason to create drama. For being a tv prankster Logan was boring and still moping over his family issues but then eventually that’s all magically resolved too. The attempt to give each character a career didn’t feel real or grounded in any sort of experience or research in television or entertainment.

The presence of Cassie’s friends in the beginning of the book was just a set up for their own spin-off books and once they are introduced they are quickly discarded. I could barely tell them apart anyway no matter how often “mahogany hair” whatever physical trait they happened to have was mentioned. From the first page you could tell the author was going for some Sex and the City girls on vacation vibe but the “what’s-under-that-kilt” jokes fell flat.

There is nothing memorable or special about this book. The pacing of the relationship felt way off and the sappiness of the romance mixed up with the more descriptive sex scenes felt off-putting to me. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t for me.

Witty, Sexy & Full of Heat! This was such a delightfully fun and charming story. I was hooked from the beginning until the end. So well written, with well crafted characters, as well as fun and witty dialogue. This is my first book by Melonie Johnson, but it definitely wont be my last.

I loved everything about this book, the trip with best friends through Europe, hoping to have a fling with a foreigner along the way, and the fact that it was a hot, Scot in a kilt was the icing on the cake for me. Loved all the Scottish traditions, and all the craziness that is Logan with his crazy hooligan antics. But the romantic moments and their sizzling chemistry melted my heart. And the ending was soo... Good! You need to check this author out right now!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved Getting Hot with the Scot. It is such a cute read. Cassie and her friends make me want to take a European vacation. You will love these ladies. The last 2 stops in Scotland and London with them is so fun. I love how Cassie and Logan meet. They have such chemistry that you can't help but to fall for them. Logan may be a prankster at times but he has this amazing heart too. I love Logan and Cassie together. I can't wait for more to come in this series. Melonie Johnson did a fabulous job and I plan on going back for more of her work. Go click this one now.

Getting hot with the Scot is book one in the Sometimes in Love Series by Melonie Johnson.
I actually read Smitten by the Brit which is book 2 in this Series, before I read book 1. But they can both be read as standalone books.

I love Melonies writing style and the way that she writes characters is amazing.
Cassie and Logan were both amazing seperatly and together.
Eventhough I loved the writing and the characters, there was just something missing for me, that is also why this book isn’t a 5 star read.

I had high hopes for this whole series. Unfortunately, it just didn't come together well for me. I kept trying throughout all 3 books for some reason.

This was the same as the Brit one. I DNFed it. It felt.like a draft instead of a finished project. The characters were also kind of flat. I didn't care what happened to them and I didn't care for the romance.

Book 1 of 3 of Sometimes in Love Series.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I absolutely loved this series! Each story is original with lovable characters. You rom-com Lovers won’t be disappointed! The series starts off with a college fiends “girls’ trip” to Europe and follows them home with their love interests.

Getting Hot with the Scot, focuses on the story of Cassie Crow, reporter and aspiring journalists, and famous, rugged prankster, Logan Reid. Cassie seeks a foreign romance and Logan seeks to further his show by using an embarrassing scene featuring Cassie. I thought that’d blow up in his and you’ll have to see for yourself if it does. I do love that it’s not the typical “I gave it all up for you!” sequence of events but rather, both parties following their dreams and figuring out how to make their love work with their dreams. By the end of this book, you’ll be falling for the mischievous, momma’s boy and rooting for Cassie to succeed!

I loved the third book in the series so much that I ended up circling back around to this. Overall, I love the IDEA of this book more than its execution. It felt like the hero ended up being a little more like a stalker--I know that's too strong of a word!--but I just wanted there to be more equity in their relationship. But I loved the heroine and her friends and the way the series played out even though this book was not for me.

Oh I love/hate/love Logan so much! (Mostly love, but he does test a person's patience, for entirely legit reasons.)
And Cassie & her crew are #friendshipgoals - funny, delightful, take no crap from each other unless it's in service of protecting them from themselves.
This is a strong series starter & I'm eager to read the rest of Melonie Johnson's Sometimes in Love books!

A quick fun read that hits all the buttons. The characters are entertaining, playing off each other nicely. I liked the relationship of the five girlfriends—each had a unique personality that played off the others. Their loving teasing was heartwarming. The chemistry between Cassie and Logan was well-written and sizzling. The story developed nicely with it’s ups and downs making the reader really cheer for these characters. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.

The story starts in Scotland where an American TV reporter meets a kilted Scotsman who tries to confuse her into thinking she is time travelling. He is a kind of Youtuber prankster and she's rather cross. Later he tries to make it up to her by asking if he can buy her a drink or a meal. Well, she's attractive and he's single.

The story moves between America and Scotland and involves these characters to attract two markets, but it's tastefully done. The people concerned are actually intelligent and hard-working, the little group of girls we meet are totally supportive, and some reasonable advice is provided. I enjoyed this adult romance story and was happy to move on to the next in the series featuring more of the group of characters.
I read an e-ARC from Net Galley. This is an unbiased review.

A debut novel by Melonie Johnson. I just couldn't stop reading this. I loved the two main characters Logan and Cassie, their friends, and most of all the setting. The book was sweet, funny, and at times very hot and sexy. Can't hardly wait to read the other books in this series. I highly recommend this book to all the romantics out there.

"Getting Hot with the Scot" takes Cassie Crow and her four best friends on a vacation around Europe. After years of planning, the five friends are finally taking their dream trip together. The girls are the opposite of each other in every way, which only strengthens their bond. It's while in Edinburg that pop-culture reporter Cassie finds herself in the arms of a very hot and kilted Highlander with a killer accent, and an even killer body. Kissing him may have been a mistake, but surely a night in his arms won't be, right? Logan Reid has built a career on his charm, hosting a series of off-the-wall pranks on the Web. But when the gorgeous, intelligent and irresistible Cassie takes his breath away with a kiss, he knows just one night with her will never be enough. Getting Hot with the Scot brings together a charmer prankster and a reporter determined to be taken seriously. The chemistry between them is off the charts and the sex even better. But what can they do when their goals, addresses, and relationship views clash in every way possible? Heartbreak is sure to follow, yet so is friendship, love, ruin, and an ultimate HEA. I loved the banter between characters, the girls are hilarious as are Logan and Theo. Besides, Scotland through Melonie's eyes is breathtaking too.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this title.

However, I was not able to finish this as I was not able to connect with the story and the way the characters were written.

I have chosen to mark this title as a "DNF" and I apologize for the delay in sending this response to this title.

Thank you!
