This book was pretty good. This is the first book I've read by this author, and it won't be the last. I'm looking forward to more great reads.

A funny, smart, and sexy book that is a fresh voice for contemporary romance. Hand this to fans of Jill Shalvis and Kristen Higgins,

“Why do you think I read romance novels? At least I’m guaranteed that, by the end of the book, two people who love each other are definitely going to end up together. Real life makes no such promises.”

Though both main characters annoyed me continuously throughout the book because they could not for the life of them, get it together, it showed just how lifelike this story was. In real life, people make the most annoying mistakes thinking that they are right for whatever reason when everybody else know that they are so blatantly wrong. People lose their significant others for one mistake or another but in romance books? Well, we
are always guaranteed a HEA. And for that, I have to say that this book definitely succeeded in making me squeal in happiness when the main characters finally ended up together.

This series, like I mentioned, starts with Getting Hot with the Scot. This novel not only serves to tell Cassie’s love story, but to introduce you to everyone. Cassie and her four friends Bonnie, Sadie, Ana and Delaney are on a once in a lifetime European trip. I immediately connected to this because my friend Bonnie and I took a similar type of trip a few years ago. The story takes place during the end of their trip in Scotland. Cassie runs into a Scotsman in a castle wearing a kilt and talking with a true Scottish brogue. Since she has made it a goal to sleep with a foreigner while on their trip, she immediately kisses him. Little does she know, this isn’t just any Scotsman, but Logan Reid, a host of a prank-based web series.

Overall, this book was very cute and definitely got me sucked into the series. Johnson did a great job of laying the groundwork for the second book romance with Bonnie and Logan’s friend Theo. I liked Cassie and Logan together and liked reading about their story, but I found myself more interested in her friends. I also was a bit surprised at how quickly they left Scotland. Either way, it was definitely a BORROW book and it piqued my interest to continue the series.

Cassie Crow and her 4 friends are on a whirlwind 5-country vacation, and her one wish is to have a fling with a foreigner before she returns to the States. Time is running out when she accidentally runs into a gorgeous ginger-haired Scot at Edinburgh Castle. For just a second, she thinks he’s time-travelled and she shares a steamy kiss with him. Turns out he’s Logan Reid, YouTube prankster, and the whole scene has been captured on video. For Logan, the video is his chance to turn his YouTube gig into a network TV show. For Cassie, the embarrassing video could ruin her plans to graduate from pop culture reporter on ChiChicago to hosting a serious, issues-related program. Can these two find a compromise that won’t derail their plans but will allow the insane chemistry between them to blossom from a one-night-stand into a love affair?

This is Melonie Johnson’s debut novel (the first of her Sometimes in Love series), and it’s a winner! The two main characters are complex and likeable. Cassie is a strong, intelligent, driven woman who has put relationships on the back burner and isn’t afraid to put Logan in his place. He’s a funny, charming Highlander (in a kilt!!!) who is driven to succeed in his accidental career and has no plans for marriage because of issues relating to his father’s premature death. Although all of the romance tropes are present, the path to happily-ever-after isn’t entirely predictable. Their friends, especially Theo and Bonnie (the next book’s couple), add color and complexity to the story. Recommend this to your romance readers, and they’ll be clamoring for the next books in the series.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from St. Martin’s Paperbacks through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

This book is a great read to devour in one sitting when you are wanting a cute romance. I ended up liking the book, but not loving it as much as I’d hope, but enough to where I did want to pick up the next in the series and see what was going to happen with some of the secondary characters we’d met during the story.

I loved this book! I couldn't put this book down. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. Cassie is on a European vacation with her best friends and has one goal for her vacation.

Logan is trying to increase the number of women viewing his videos on his prank website to attract a cable network.

Logan videos tapes a prank against Cassie and now has to convince her to sign a waiver.

Lifestyle reporter Cassie Crow longs to be and is working toward being a serious journalist. But while on vacation with her gal pals, she has a hot embrace with a handsome, kilted Scotsman. Logan Reid has made a career from his web-based prank program and his film of the encounter with Cassie could do serious damage to her professional credibility. Logan wants her to sign a release and Cassie wants to avoid the exposure at all costs. As they travel to London, they realize there is a spark between them that could lead to something more.

Getting Hot with the Scot is a light, fluffy contemporary romance. If you’re looking for books about young modern women traveling and supporting each other through their love lives, this could be the series for you. Personally, I found the entire novel a bit too fluffy. The characters behavior seemed too juvenile. Cassie has a few too many friends – so many I had trouble keeping track of who was who. Logan seemed like a thinly disguised, modern Jamie Frasier. And just about every character was described by their physical attributes every time they appeared in the story. When our hero met Cassie’s friend and his first thought was, she has a great rack, I almost didn’t continue with the book.

This obviously wasn’t my cup of tea but it could truly appeal to those wanting a light hearted, modern romance. 2 stars.

This was an enjoyable enough read, but nothing remarkable. I've read plenty of excellent contemporary romances, and this wasn't one. I won't be picking up the sequels.

The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.

The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind. Their attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A group of girlfriends on a bucket list European vacation. An internet reality show named Shenanigans. A hot kiss in a castle.

Cassie went on vacation with an empty charm bracelet and a full box of condoms. She has reached Scotland and the bracelet is no longer empty, but the condoms box is still full. Cassie gets lost in a castle and a handsome Scot tries to convince her she has traveled back in time. She is not convinced. She manages to hook up with Logan, the star of an internet reality show and make a dent in the box. Logan needs Cassie to sign a waiver so that his company can air the video of their kiss in the castle. Logan thinks this will convince a production company that the show appeals to the female demographic. Cassie is a TV reporter trying to move from fluff to serious reporting and the last thing she needs is to appear in a video getting kissed by a handsome Scot. They work out their differences, Cassie gets the job she wants. Logan moves to Chicago and gets the job he wants. Epic grand gesture in the last chapter.

I'm not sure why I thought this book had a bit of time travel in it. But I was wrong and I'm okay with it. My goodness you can feel the steam just rolling off the page from Cassie and Logan's first interaction well into every one that follows. I unfortunately had to put pause on reading this book for a moment due to time restrictions with other books. However, I was able to pick this one back up like I never put it down. The energy between everyone is astounding. I still kind of imagine over half of that group being a variation of red heads which is almost impossible. I would really suggest the book to my Scottish romance fiends. It's got a bit of back and forth. But all around i'm obsessed! I love my some Scots. 😍 I honestly already found another book by this author to read before I was done with this one. She's got me very interested and I can't wait to read more of her work. Update: I absolutely started the next book I'm so excited to finish the next two!!

This is about Cassie Crow and her meeting Logan Reid while traveling through Europe with her friends. Cassie meets Logan at a Scottish castle and the chemistry is instant. Thinking it will be only one night with her Scot, Cassie and her friends continue on to London for the last part of their amazing vacation. But she quickly learns that she will be seeing more of Logan.

I will start by saying that I enjoyed this book and am truly regretting not requesting the second in this series when it was available on NetGalley. Overall, I liked the main characters, as well as, the secondary characters with some exceptions.

Initially, I loved Cassie and thought she and her friends were intelligent, funny, interesting, etc. Her character was developed somewhat slowly in my opinion for a rom-com, but it was done well. Logan inspired instant lust for me and I found him charming, sexy, and funny. Again, his development was slow but it worked. I was a huge fan of all of Cassie’s friends (although Bonnie gave me whiplash several times with her mood swings) and I adored Theo. But… Truth be told, who Cassie and Logan were at their core was not someone that I would enjoy being around or want to know. Why?

My primary issue with Logan’s character was his repetitive dishonesty. If I’m reading a rom-com I certainly expect flawed characters, but his ongoing lying became distracting to me. Equally annoying were the numerous holes in his story ranging from his mysterious friendship with Theo to why he wouldn’t call his sister once he was in the States. By the end of the novel, I still didn’t feel as if I knew his character, despite him revealing more of himself and his emotions in the last 20% or so of the book.

Regarding Cassie, my main issue with her character was a complete lack of backbone and self-worth. Logan lied repeatedly and had one major screw-up. Then there were ongoing instances of him closing off, shutting down, and pushing her away that, at times, were downright cruel. Then there was Cassie’s evil co-worker Tiffany… That evil hag of a person was wretched to Cassie and obviously had been for quite some time. But with both Logan and Tiffany, Cassie rarely stood up for herself and was insanely quick at dolling out forgiveness. So if a character doesn’t even like themselves, how does the reader learn to like them?

Moving on from all of that, Getting Hot with the Scott was a good read. There are some very funny parts of the story, an eclectic cast of characters, and an original storyline. Melonie Johnson’s writing flows along flawlessly and reels you into the story from the very beginning until the last line. I especially loved the enormous variety of settings, accents, dialects, food, customs, and so on that were included in the story. If not for the previously mentioned issues I would say I absolutely loved this one, but it ended up being a fairly strong like instead.

*Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Paperbacks for providing this copy in exchange for my honest review.

I was so lucky to get to read an advanced copy of Getting Hot with the Scot. Let me first say, it was amazing! Cassie and Logan were adorable together from the first interaction. I will tell you they totally had the most unique "meet-cute-ever." And their chemistry, off-the-charts.

But the book is so much more than that. All the relationships, Cassie with her friends, Logan and his sister, both of them with their mothers, each was so well done and singular and special and real. The conflict was also so, well real and modern, not high drama but careers and finding direction.

It was such a fun, wonderful read. It totally made my week. I'm so excited to read the next two in the series. A fabulous debut. I totally recommend it, a 100 times over.

When I first read the premise of this book, I was really intrigued by how Cassie has been planning this Europe trip with her group of friends for a while now. I assumed from there that each friend would get their book featuring their HEA. I also love reading romance novels set in different areas because it allows me to really get a sense of the place, especially places I haven't been before. I'm happy to say that the friendship group and world building did not disappoint in this book. I knew I liked the book immediately with the simple interactions between Cassie and her friends. But what really sold me was when Logan and Cassie had their "meet cute" in the Scottish castle, where Cassie pointed out to Logan that she knew for a fact that he wasn't a time traveler (made me think of Outlander and DW). Things are complicated because Logan wants to use that clip of when they met as a bit for his sketch show. That said, there's a clear connection between the two and they are definitely attracted to one another. From there, you see both really fall for one another, and kind of break out of their shells when they are around each other. Even though it seemed that Logan wanted to purely get her to sign a contract to be featured on his show, it became so much more than that. I do wish at times that he was much more straight forward and quicker with things with keeping things up front. I did also liked that the book focused on their relationship in a daily every day routine. I find that a lot of romances that occur destination wise in romance novels, just move from that to immediate HEA. I like seeing them work through just non-vacation life and finding a balance with one another. I especially liked seeing how they were in Chicago together, but I also loved when Logan brought Cassie home to the Scottish Highlands to show her his family. Overall, it was a really fun, sexy, and lovely romance to read. I am definitely keen to read the next one in the story to see how the relationship between Bonnie (Cassie's bestie) and Theo (Logan's friend) works out. I'm hoping we get to see some of Logan and Cassie in the next one as well. Definitely the perfect read this summer!

Ah, my love for this book knows no bounds! At times like these I could not be more grateful for NetGalley as I doubt I would hear about all these gems otherwise! Hence me talking about this trilogy and recommending it to everyone who might be even vaguely interested!

As I'm lazy it has taken me nearly two months to write this review. But I'm actually waiting on physical copies of all of these to read them again and most likely write a more thorough review (screw my endless TBR!).

This book has me kinda lost for words as I genuinely did enjoy it so much. Having lived in Ireland for quite a few years, I absolutely adore everything that has to do with either Ireland, Scotland, or the UK. Especially if it has plenty of sauciness and laugh-out-loud moments. Which this has plenty!

The main characters and their friend groups are so relatable, plus I at least grew to envy them. What I'd do have such characters in my life! It'd be much more entertaining. And who would say no to a Scottish hunk in a kilt? Not this girl.

My review isn't doing this book any justice and I'm feeling quite bad for it. This always happens when I devour a book. What I mean to say is GO BUY THIS TRILOGY IMMEDIATELY. Seriously.

I love romance novels and I was so excited to find this trilogy.

I tried really hard with this one, picking it up and putting it down a couple of times, but ultimately I just could not get into it. I found the writing to be uninteresting and the plot to be boring.

It was a DNF for me. I wouldn’t recommend it to others and I was not interested in finishing the trilogy.

Who wouldn't want to find a sexy Scot in a kilt hanging out in a castle when they are on vacation?? Cassie and her friends are on the holiday of a lifetime and when she meets Logan it's not only sparks flying, but little explosions.

Getting Hot with the Scott is a fun and quirky story with some awesome characters.
