A sexy accent, a romantic setting and a prankster? What more could a girl ask for....A LOT, but when he tries to win your heart is it for the right reasons, should you give in? All Cassie wanted was an experience to last her lifetime but she never imagined it would be so much more.

Hot, addictive love story that is playful and energetic. Johnson has great, relatable characters that readers will be cheering on.

Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson was the first book I had read by this author. It was a fresh funny tale, full of warmth with a wonderful cast of characters. I was certainly curious to see how Logan was going to win over the not-impressed Cassie (and honestly, who could blame her) the result was a fun view of a man with a mission, who keeps forgetting his mission, until he decides that other things are more important.
I loved every moment of Getting Hot with the Scot and I’ll be reading the future books in the series, the side characters look to have their own future fun HEAs.

Cassie Crow, a pop-culture reporter for a TV talk show, is focused on becoming a “serious” journalist. But when she stumbles into a kilted Highlander with a killer accent, Cassie decides that taking one night off from work and spending it with a sexy Scot couldn’t hurt. . . Logan Reid has built a career on his charm, hosting a series of off-the-wall hijinks on the Web. But when the Scottish prankster meets the all-American, equal parts intelligent and irresistible Cassie, Logan realizes that one night of fun won’t be enough. Could it be that this career-focused, commitment-phobic couple is finally ready to take a chance at true and lasting love?
It’s not too often that a contemporary book can hold my attention until the very end, but this one managed to do it. I really enjoyed both main characters as well as all of the side characters.I liked the interactions from start to finish, even if it was predictable. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

To me Getting Hot with the Scot is a perfect beginning to a great Romantic Comedy series by new to me author Melonie Johnson. I don't quite know whether it was the cover, the blurb, or the prospect of reading about modern day Scot... or perhaps it was a perfect combination of all three that drew me to this book.

The main leads in this standalone series that is connected by interconnected characters are Cassie Crow and Logan Reid. Cassie is on a long awaited and thoroughly planned vacation through Europe with her closest friends when she stumbled upon Logan's latest prank for his internet show in Edinburgh. What was suppose to be a simple jest ignited some real sparks between the two that leads Logan to chase the girls and the object of his desire to London. However, not all together for the right reason... in the beginning. You see the attraction between the two is undeniable and a bit tragic when you consider that they live on different continents and not to mention have completely different personalities.

Melanie Johnson writes a greatly developed characters and story that is very relatable, especially in this age of dating. The story is full of chuckles and can be devoured in one sitting if real life doesn't come knocking.

I really loved the beginning of this series and judging by the secondary characters it will be interesting to see who Cassie's friends end up with. All the girls have different personalities, quirks, and eccentricities that need to matched with a handsome international man. The premise of the series is quite interesting and I will be reading each book to get all my questions answered.

It took me a little bit to connect with this one but once I did, I couldn't put it down. A hot scot ... yes, please! I loved the hero and heroine but I also adored the side characters. Since this is the first in the series, I'm confident that we'll be getting their stories as well and I cannot wait! This was a fantastic read. There was a lot of humor in this one which was pretty refreshing. It wasn't a perfect book but I really enjoyed my time with this one.

The blurb is what got me on this one (I love Scotland!) and it didn't disappoint. Super cute and fun and I'm looking forward to the next! Highly recommend for some good contemporary romance.

I love this book!! Logan is a jokester who refuses to think about longterm serious relationships. Cassie is only looking for an amazing vacation affair. However, it turns out that is not enough for either of them. This is a sweet and funny story that I enjoyed very much!

This is the first time I have ever read this author and I really enjoyed this book. Getting Hot with the Scot was a great start to a new series.

Cassie is on a vacation of her dreams with her friends. She meets Logan along the way; they don’t get off to a great start. He is the producer and stars in an Internet show. This show is all about practical jokes and a major network in the states wants to pick it up.

These two are perfect for each other. They have a one nightstand turns into more. They start to have feelings for each other and Cassie has to go home. This was a sweet book with characters you couldn’t help but love. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one in the series.

This was SUCH a fun book! Cassie is a pop culture tv reporter, but she is ready to start writing articles that will be taken serious. Her grand plans get derailed when she meets a sexy Scott in a kilt. His accent and good looks make her think taking one night off for some fun wouldn't be a bad idea. Logan has made a name for himself thanks to his outlandish pranks he posts online. When he meets the sexy and intelligent Cassie, he soon realizes one night of fun may be way too few for a change. Can two people who are career-focused, find a way to fit love into their busy lifestyles?

This was a cute start to a series from a new-to-me author. The premise surrounding the "meet cute" was certainly unique and I liked how the relationship between Cassie and Logan progressed. There was great chemistry between the two and some hot scenes. Also, you get a hint of the relationship that will be covered in book #2 without laying too much groundwork to make it impossible to read #2 as a standalone. Admittedly, the end was a tad predictable and I wish that there was a bit more "closure" around the issues that Logan had with his family legacy. Also, after the big "relationship crisis", I feel as if I would have liked to have had Cassie make Logan work for forgiveness a bit more. She was awfully forgiving, in my opinion. Altogether a quick, fun read and I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in the series.

My thoughts

Rating: 4.5

Would I recommend it? yes

Will I read any thing else by this author ?yes

Was sure what to expect , because I've never read anything by this author but I heard from my from friends that this was good and they was right, it was funny and light , the type of story I like to read when I have a bad day or just want something light to read , a story i can just get lost in and not think about anything but what I'm reading, it had me smiling all the way though the book and shaking my head at what was happen . With that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it , and I'll be picking up the next to as soon as I can to read.

I really liked this book! It was delightfully charming! I really enjoyed each of the characters,
though I did find myself confusing several of the main characters friends throughout the novel,
especially since two of them were not mentioned often. I also really liked that this novel had a
meet-cute, was a enemies-to-lovers, and didn’t just take place during the course of their
vacation. I really liked that the author was able to show the full relationship between the two
characters, instead of just telling the story of a holiday-fling!

This story just didn't work for me. I enjoyed the premise of it, but found I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I would definitely be interested in trying this author again.

Great book. Has a great mix of all of the emotions you would expect from Melonie Johnson. Absolutely love all of the accents, kilts and Scottish references. This is going to be a great series!

I received Getting Hot with the Scot for free through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. While I did think that they were awfully quick to fall in love, it was a very enjoyable read. It also made me look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I wish I'd liked this one more but me and this author's style did not mesh. I'm sad to say I did not finish it. I also tried the audiobook and did not enjoy the narrator.

I’m so excited to participate in the blog tour for Getting Hot with the Scot! My summer reading list is so long, but this novel is at the top! The entire Sometimes in Love series sounds so charming and lovely!

Getting Hot With the Scot (A Sometimes in Love, #1) by Melonie Johnson
St. Martin's Press, 2019
Romance (Contemporary); 368 pgs

"What are you reading now?" my husband asked one evening. I blushed, lowered my voice and replied after a pause, "Getting Hot With the Scot." Because, you know, that title. But Melonie Johnson, through her character Cassie, reminded me: "'I want to dispel the idea that smart people, smart women in particular, don't read romance.'" And then, "'Nobody should ever be ashamed of what they read.'" So when a coworker asked me what great books I had read recently, I did not hesitate to say, "Melonie Johnson's Getting Hot With the Scot." (Among others.)

Getting Hot With the Scot was such a fun read, and it is an example of why I got back into reading romance again. I admit I can be rather picky about romance--and it sometimes takes me a little longer to be pulled in (at no fault to the author), especially when it involves the main characters jumping into anything impulsively—like in bed with a stranger. We all have our biases, after all. But Melonie Johnson worked her magic and won me over quickly.

I like my romance heroines to have good heads on their shoulders, and Cassie Crow certainly has that. She and her friends had been planning their trip to Europe for years, and now that they are finally able to, they are having the time of their lives. As they near the end of their trip, Cassie has yet to fulfill one of her dreams. Always so focused on work, this is the one time she can let loose—and he comes in the form of Scot. When she unknowingly stumbles in the middle of the filming of a prank for Logan’s web show, one look at the gorgeous Highlander and she realizes this might be her chance. The heat between them is intense and immediate—only nothing can be that simple, can it?

I really appreciated that the author develops her characters and their relationship over the course of the novel. Even as Cassie says she is setting work aside for this trip with her friends, she still is constantly checking in with her office. A possible promotion is on the line for the pop-culture reporter, so it’s understandable. I like that she is independent and goes after what she wants. And I like how Logan, despite his ulterior motive, takes Cassie's feelings into consideration at just about every turn. And even while the chemistry between them is extremely hot, Johnson takes their relationship to the next level, tackling each of the character's emotional baggage thoughtfully and respectfully. It was impossible not to fall for this couple and root for them every step of the way. Getting Hot With the Scot is witty and charming as well as sexy and smart. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
