This story was a great read. Following best friends who had planned this vacation for five years. All Cassie wanted was to have a foreign fling. But being a romance novel lover she got more than she bargained for in a hot scot named Logan.
This was a fun, sexy and all around good time book. The characters were believable and the supporting cast was fun to hang out with. You'll want to read more about the other ladies in the story.

“‘We both know you’re not going to find a better souvenir than that’—she tilted her head, ponytail flicking in the direction of the kilted slab of sexy Scot waiting behind them—‘in the gift shop.’”*

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Cassie dreams of having a wild fling on her European vacation, but she’s running out of time and countries. In Scotland, her steamy encounter with a native seems promising until she discovers it’s all part of a prank; one that Logan hopes will go viral and secure him a spot on an American television show. Having witnessed firsthand the damage a social media misstep can bring, Cassie doesn’t want the clip to ruin her own television career aspirations. While she can’t get enough of Logan, she’s not sure what he wants more: a signed release form or a relationship.

GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT has all the makings of a great romance series starter with a relatable heroine, a swoon-worthy hero, and a bevy of best friends who each deserve their own happy ever after. An abundance of Scottish dialogue and frequent shifts in narration might bug some readers, but the story and the characters are solid and engaging. The groundwork is nicely laid to get the sequel off the ground running and readers won’t have to wait long to get their next fix. Johnson creates a fabulous balance of naughty and nice in this sexy and fun new series.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to experience this novel in advance of its release.

When St Martin's Press reached out to me about reading this book, I was a little hesitant given my recent experience with this genre. All too often, reading a romance book feels like reading a checklist - all the main points are the same, the only things that change are the names and the backdrop. While this book was a bit predictable, it has massive heart and an enjoyable plot that will hold a lot of appeal to people who are looking for a fun, fast read.

Getting Hot With the Scot follows Cassie and her horde of friends as they are finishing up their dream European vacation. Cassie's at a pivotal part of her life - she's ready to trade her safe career for a more challenging and serious (read: more unstable) role at her company. In the meantime, she's also trying to break out of her shell and push her boundaries - be more daring in her life. Enter Logan: a YouTube prankster who pulls a con on Cassie and starts following her around Europe to get her to sign a release form.

I can't say that the plot to this book was wholly original - it was definitely predictable, but I was pleasantly surprised with the pacing of this book - it was snappy and quick and lagged in very few areas. There was a good mix of cutesy romantic stuff, real life challenges (both in the form of Cassie's new job and in the life hurdles Logan has experienced), and drama. These three were balanced well, and made me not want to put the book down.

Cassie was surprisingly likable - she wasn't a pushover and stood her ground on things that were important to her. For example: when Logan repeatedly confronted her about the release form, she didn't bow to his pressure. She stood her ground, was daring in her career, and was just generally a pleasant character. I only wish that she had cared more about her friends: Bonnie is clearly going through some tumultuous times, but Cassie doesn't really try to help her. I was a bit more on the fence about Logan - he started out being a bit of a tool, and then just kinda spiraled into being a very generic romance leading man.

One of my gripes with this book is about the sheer volume of side characters and how underdeveloped they were. I'm sure the plan is to give each character a spin off from this book (including the already scheduled one about Bonnie), but they really added nothing to the plot. The only side character I was even remotely invested in was Bonnie, because she was the only one given any semblance of character out side of a single trait (one of Cassie's friends' only defining characteristic was that she never ever gained weight no matter how much she ate). Honestly, the book would have been better (and smoother) for trimming the fat that was these characters.

This was a bubbly, cliche, and quick read oozing with charm and sweetness. While it's not necessarily the freshest of plots, it's a fun ride that makes for perfect beach reading. If you're on the hunt for a new romance author to follow - Melonie Johnson is your gal. I'd give Getting Hot with the Scot 4/5.

I like the premise of this series, but this was just an OK read for me. I'm glad that many other reviewers enjoyed the book, but for me there did not seem to be enough character development or chemistry between Cassie and Logan. I did enjoy the friendship and camaraderie between the group of women, so will continue to give this series a try.

When Cassie Crow and her friends take the trip of a lifetime to Europe, one of the things on her bucket list is to have a passionate affair with a sexy man. What begins as a trip through a museum to hear a book lecture takes a turn when Cassie meets a Scottish man in a kilt. Turns out he's filming an episode of his show "Shenanigans" to which Cassie does not agree to appear in. Logan, the sexy Scot, is on a mission to get her to sign the release so he can air his episode.

Cassie would really like to get to know Logan after a hot kiss they shared but is he only in it for the release or do they find a true romance?

Getting Hot With the Scot was an irresistible fun and sexy romp with these two characters and I highly recommend this book.
Thank you.

IT’S TIME TO FLIRT WITH A MAN IN A KILT

Cassie Crow, a pop-culture reporter for a TV talk show, is focused on becoming a “serious” journalist. But when she stumbles into a kilted Highlander with a killer accent, Cassie decides that taking one night off from work and spending it with a sexy Scot couldn’t hurt. . .

Logan Reid has built a career on his charm, hosting a series of off-the-wall hijinks on the Web. But when the Scottish prankster meets the all-American, equal parts intelligent and irresistible Cassie, Logan realizes that one night of fun won’t be enough. Could it be that this career-focused, commitment-phobic couple is finally ready to take a chance at true and lasting love?

This is not my usual romance read but the title caught my attention. Cassie and Logan's story took a long time coming to it's Happily Ever After but it did with all sorts of twists and turns along the way.
The characters are all intriguing and I look forward to many of them getting stories of their own.
I gave this book 4 of 5 stars for storyline and character development.
There are some very steamy moments of intimacy in this book so be prepared.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read. This in no waay affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Aww so sweet and Logan?? Total yum!

Just as the title suggests, the story is a cute romcom that takes a hold of you and will not let go. It starts with a wild and wacky scene and just keeps on going.

While on a trip of a lifetime with 4 other friends, Cassie finds herself wrapped up in a hunky, kilt wearing Scot who is so worth the intense ribbing she gets from her friends. After all, who could resist, especially when the hot Highlander returns the heat and ups the passion.

This fun, lighthearted story is loaded with adventure, a few ups and downs, and some hot and heavy hooking up that takes them all by surprise. A better surprise is the way the author takes the two personalities and balances them beautifully.

He is a wounded soul that hides everything behind jokes and fun. She is a hardworking gal, aching to get ahead at her work and enjoying her European fling. After all, that is why she brought a king size box of condoms with her on vacation.

Sweet, funny, sexy AF, and just a wonderful all around read, Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson is a fabulous first time novel and sets the bar high for other up and coming rom-com writers. A definite must read!

What a start to a great new series! I loved the characters of Cassie and Logan. This was a captivating novel and I highly recommend it. Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was book was adorable and you fall in love with a hot Scot and I have to say that I would have done the same thing that Cassie did and enjoyed an affair while on vaca, shoot I was jealous. I laughed at how they said she read too many romance books, I personally do not think that that is possible. We get to enjoy the vacation thru their eyes and I always like to read about a group of friends that have fun together but are there for each other when needed. And the romance between Cassie and Logan was hotttttt. Can't wait to hopefully read about Bonnie and Theo..Enjoy!

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

This is the first book I have read from this author, and it did not disappoint. This book follows Cassie, a TV reporter from Chicago who is currently on the last leg of her European girls vacation in the UK. While in Scotland, and before heading back home through London, Cassie is unknowingly the target of a prank from Logan, a vlogger whose online presence is known for his hilarious and humiliating pranks. When Cassie realizes how she was duped, she vows that she will never sign the release allowing Logan to legally air the video footage, as it could be damaging to her own growing career. In Logan's attempt to convince Cassie to sign the release, they end up having a whirlwind romance that threatens both of their careers and their relationship.

The author does a great job in showing the fun and flirty side of an otherwise serious Cassie, and gives depth to a hurting and fragile Logan. Together, the chemistry jumps off the pages and I honestly couldn't put this book down. This book is not a super short read, but not too long either. There are highs and lows that Cassie and Logan experience, together as a couple as well as individually that really bring in all feels - both happy and heart wrenching. The character buildup is great, and I felt that I really got to know the characters and felt what they were going through. I can't wait to read more from this author.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Getting Hit with the Scot was a very well written romance, hea, sexy, funny book. This is a new author for me and I'm super stoked to add her to my who to watch for new books list! Brilliant characters and side characters. Plenty of emotions and excitement. Picture the Sex and the City girls going on a European vacation together! This book was a blast of sexy kilts , Scots and even a sexy Prince Eric look a like English Duke to round out the hottness! I hope we get Bonnie's story next!!!
Gifted by Netgalley for an honest review and I honestly super duper recommend reading this book to all romance book lovers out there! Sexy Scot in a kilt what not to love!

This was a very fun read! Romance and humor combined to keep me glued from the first few pages. Cassie and Logan may seem to come at life from very different places, but they have a lot more in common that it seems. A quick affair is all Cassie wants, but she may get more than she bargained for. Logan is just out to finally make a name for himself, but he can't get Cassie out of his head. These two are combustible, and no matter the obstacles life throws at you, sometimes love can just find its way.

This is a rom com. Lots of funny scenes. Cassie is a lot more straight laced than Logan. Logan tells some lies that misdirects his relationship with Cassie.its a fairly fast and easy read. Logan is from Scotland so we get a lot of sexy Scottish brogue. Its a very nice story.

Super Cute idea for Getting Hot With the Scot! Thought I had misunderstood the synopsis of the book with an added time travel mixed in for fun! Cassie and her unusual mixture of friends who travel together are visiting a castle and get separated. Cassie stumbles on a movable bookcase with a groaning, kilted, amnesic, hunky Scot locked up behind it. Cassie sees this as her opportunity to lay one on the Scot. We know it is going to come back to haunt her later, but first, these two truly do make a connection.

I love Logan’s honest with himself over the feelings of guilt he had in following Cassie and trying to get her to sign the contract. He seemed to battle with himself over the connection he has with her versus the need to promote his television show. Even the way he follows her to Chicago and his inner battle with how to approach her shows he does have a heart and feelings for Cassie.

Her group of friends are quite a combination in this mix, too. At times, they take it upon themselves to help her out, with mixed results. Cassie has such a good heart and is as open as she can be with Logan, with her friends, and with her work colleagues who do not always deserve it.

This is a charming romance, with great scenic descriptions, and travels back and forth between Great Britain and the US. Makes you want to take a vacation to visit some of these amazing places. This is a great, contemporary romance with more than a bit of Scottish brogue from our male lead and friend. It would be an amazing weekend read.

A Modern Day, Fairytale, Adult Romance💚
This was enjoyably entertaining for me, always with a bit of humor lurking, which truly plays an integral part of Logan's history and his "Shenanigans". When he and Cassie first meet, the sparks do fly, (not always sexual-but there is that, too) so very interesting to see how it all plays out. His Scottish brogue just gives ye the good goosebumps!! (Well, depending on how good ye are at it in yer head, don't ye ken, lassies). Yes, sorry, I'll stick to reading😉
The scenic descriptions have me wanting my own tour of Europe, and maybe find my own Hot Scot. Cassie's friends are an eclectic bunch of bffs, who either help or hinder lol, depending on who you talk to. I'm hoping Theo, Logan's old mate, gets his story next, as he was quite dishy and seems to be taken with Cassie's bf, Bonnie, who is already kind of taken, which I think, should provide some very good reading, especially if the girls all offer their "help" again. Or maybe there's a whole other twist, but I'm definitely interested in reading more from this series and author.
When Cassie and Logan return to their jobs, there's a lot more anxst and drama due to the pressures of their positions in the media, so it lost a wee bit of its levity, but such is reality. Things get twisted and straightened yet again, which slowed it down a bit for my tastes, but they do, finally, get their HEA, and in such a memorable unique staging.
I was happy to receive an ARC thru Net Galley and am freely giving my honest opinions

Mmmmm this book was just ok for me, it was a decent light read! This is Cassie and Logan book, cassie is trying to become a serious journalist and working for a tv talk show isn't cutting it but hopefully if all goes well she'll hit her bigtime ! Logan is a big goofball and is the host of an off the wall bikinis show on the web! He's in a castle trying to pull a prank on a hot American girl! Which of course happens to be cassie! This book had its funny moments and it was a light good read i do recommend it but it wasn't my favorite but still good! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

This was a cute romance book and I enjoyed the book but it had so many characters that at times I got confused. Also it does have a lot of sex in it and that is something that I have to make note of since I own a bookstore and have customers who love books with lots of sex and customers who do not want lots of sex in their books. And yes, I have goofed up and given wrong books to customers. I will recommend this book to my "loves sex" customers

Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read this book.

This book was adorable. Cassie Crow and her lifetime friends are on the vacation of a lifetime across Europe. She has an empty charm bracelet and a box full of condoms. All she wants for souvenirs is to fill the bracelet up and have a one night stand with a hot foreign guy. Before she knows it, she is in an old Scottish castle and finds a lad behind a stairwell who appears to be from the 1700’s and very confused where he is supposed to be. Before long, she is mugging down with him when she realizes that she isn’t kissing a time traveling hot Scot, but a famous YouTube prankster. In order to continue his success he needs Cassie’s permission to publish his best work. So he is lead to stalk her to get the waiver signed, but along the way maybe it is more about the girl than the career.
