Kate's Philadelphia Frenzy (Camp Club Girls #5)
A baseball themed mystery by one of my favorite authors? Yes, please! I really enjoyed this fun mystery featuring Kate and Sydney and the rest of the Camp Club Girls. The baseball mystery was very good and it’s a quick easy read. My favorite of the series so far.

Kate's Vermont Venture (Camp Club Girls #10)
A fun winter themed mystery for Kate and Sydney to solve. Trying to figure out what is causing the problems at the creamery was interesting and the ending and culprit were a good fit for the mystery along with a good lesson to learn. Sydney's attitudes bugged me a bit in the book but that was my only complaint about the story. A good read for girls in this age group.

Kate and the Wyoming Fossil Fiasco (Camp Club Girls #16)
This was an excellent installment in the Camp Club Girls series. My favorite element of the story was the nuggets of inspirational truth Janice wove in the book. I have read several books in the series thus far and this one has been the best one for inspirational truths so far. The mystery was very good as well as the life lesson the girls learned when they solved the case. Super fun read!

Kate and the Pennsylvania Pretzel Pickle (Camp Club Girls, #22)
I enjoyed this mystery that involves a pretzel factory and possible sabotage. The science fair is a fun component to the story as well. There's also a good lesson to be learned about how not to hold grudges or have petty disagreements that aren't resolved. Good read!

This is yet another book that is an anthology of 4 books from the Camp Club Girls series that are being republished in 2019 (the other two that I’ve reviewed so far are linked above). This book covers the adventures of Kate, who was a really fun Camp Club Girl to read about! Her gadgets really give a fun exciting twist to all of the mysteries that the Camp Club Girls solve. The books in this anthology are Books 5, 10, 16, and 22 from the original publishing. Bailey may be my favorite Camp Club Girl, but this anthology is my favorite one!

Book 5: Kate's Philadelphia Frenzy This was a really fun read! I love baseball, and getting to go with the girls to get a behind-the-scenes look at the baseball industry is really cool! The techy side of things in this book (blogging, online research, photo editing, voice recording, and of course, the gadgets, etc) was also really cool to read! It was also really funny how Kate didn't actually understand the game and had to rely on Sydney's knowledge! The device for muscular dystrophy was also really neat and I enjoyed that mention. 4/5

Book 10: Kate's Vermont Venture This book was set in Vermont, which made it all snowy and cozy, which in turn made me happy. Aunt Molly and Uncle Ollie were The Best and I loved how sweet and godly they were. I also really like cheese XD. The crime/mystery was also a 'bigger deal' mystery, and I enjoyed seeing how they solved it, even though the ending reason wasn't necessarily that big of a deal. 4/5

Book 16: Kate and the Wyoming Fossil Fiasco This book . . . simply didn't feel realistic? Like who would try to fake fossils at a museum with brown sugar??? I was just kinda confused as to how the details would work out, you know? Aside from that though, fossil camp sounds really fun and Megan seemed really cool! The book just didn't capture my interest and I poked too many holes in it for me to still enjoy it. 2/5

Book 22: Kate and the Pennsylvania Pretzel Pickle This was a fun read, albeit a bit odd? Kate is only about eleven, so it's kind of wild that she's at a conference for inventions? It's simply kind of unbelievable that there are national-level science fair events for elementary school (or essentially elementary school at least), especially at the caliber at which they are working at (whole machines that make food etc). On the flip side, the food sounded so good and now I want a pretzel! The Amish girl was also really cool to have been included. The mystery itself was kinda stupid? and not for kids either? 3/5

My Rating-
Overall, this is my favorite book from this series that I've read to date. The first two books were a lot more enjoyable than the other two, but overall, I enjoyed them, even if they weren't the most realistic!

While I tended to rate each of the individual stories lower than average, it was simply because it was a series that was not for me: I’m not really in the middle-grade demographic. Overall, I would definitely recommend it to girls that are in the proper age range who would enjoy it, and I would have enjoyed when I was that age.

Overall Rating- 3/5

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review; I was not required to write a positive review.

I would like to thank Barbour Publishing and the Netgalley website for this reading.

There are the girls from the camp club. In this book, they will try to solve four intrigues: first, they will try to save their friend Andrew's family because his father could see his career destroyed as a result of a defamation campaign. Second, Kate and Sidney visiting Vermont want to relax and ski except that at the local dairy there is some excitement. Third, a former Kate teacher becomes a curator in a museum and a spilled drink will take Kate and McKenzie to the fossil camps of the stone's throw quarry. And recently Kate is attending an exhibition in Pennsylvania and is partnering with a local pretzel factory to test their invention and with her friend Kate will witness an unfortunate story of twisted preparation.

At first I struggled to hang on to the story but as the pages went by I found the four stories engaging, addictive and the characters engaging.

Camp Club Girls: Kate
by Janice Thompson

Barbour Publishing, Inc.

Pub Date 01 Mar 2019

I am reviewing a copy of Camp Club Girls: Kate through Barbour Books and Netgalley:

Someone is framing the shortstop of the Philadelphia Phillies but who is it? Kate’s Friend, Andrew faces the fear of his life when this smear campaign threatens to end his Fathers career and destroy him. Will the Camp Clib girls be able to stop this smear campaign and save the day for Andrew and his family?

There are rats at Mad River Creamery but where did they come from? Kate and Sydney are visiting a small Vermont town during winter break. Along with their plans to go skiing and enjoy some relaxation, turmoil breaks out at the local creamery. Will the Camp Club Girls triumph in vanquishing the vermin of Vermont?

Whose responsible for the phony fossils? When Kate’s former teacher becomes the Curator at a small science museum, Kate is invited to help out at the museum….A drink accidentally getting spilled leads Kate and McKenzie on a quick quest to a Quarry Fossil Camp called Stone’s throw. Will their suspicions prove right or wrong?

Why are the pretzels going flat? When Kate is chosen to attend a Junior Inventors showcase in Hershey Pennsylvania, while there she is able to partner with a local pretzel factory, that is willing to test her invention. Unfortunately Alexis and Kate notice a problem with the twisted treats. Can they get to the bottom of their pretzel predicament?

The four stories in this book would be a great read for eight to twelve year old girls who enjoy adventure stories.

I give Camp Club Girls: Kate five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

My youngest daughter, who's eleven, and I have gotten hooked on these books since we read the first one in the series - Elizabeth. We enjoyed that one and have read Bailey and now Kate. She is now "in love" with the Camp Club Girls and their adventures.

Kate has some pretty interesting mysteries to solve in this book and most of them are solved with at least one other camp club girl present. The individual books in this book are slightly longer than the first two books with around 16 chapters instead of 12. They seemed a little more drug out than the others but still very entertaining. We read them out of order too. My daughter just picked the one that sounded interesting and we started with it. They are all stand alone.

These books have been compared to Nancy Drew, however, they don't seem to have criminals quite as dangerous. They also have more faith references and values. Each of the Camp Club Girls has something unique they bring to the equation, whether prayer, or some type of sleuthing skill.

I would definitely recommend these books for tweens who love friends and adventures.

Kate is someone I could relate to, and that's both good and bad. (which is really awesome writing!)

I could see my own insecurity, busyness and preoccupation in Kate. I end up feeling encouraged to do better and trust God more. Exactly the message that women of all ages need, especially young teens who are still forming who they are!

The mysteries are fun, as usual. Believable, learning how to be observant and not pre-judge people.

My favorite was the Montana story where they go to archeology camp. Being careful how we fossilize our hearts, and making assumptions being a bad idea!

📌 I received an advance copy of the book from @NetGalley and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.

I’ve had the pleasure of reading Janice Thompson’s work in the past, and was excited to give this book a try. I have read a few of these Camp Club Girls books in the past when they were in single volumes, so I was sure I would love Kate’s collection. I was right! I was not disappointed with this one!

I love a good mystery book, be it adult, young adult, or middle grade. Kate’s stories are just that: good mysteries for those of any age, but definitely good for the middle grade ages. Thompson weaves great messages for young girls, and creates stories that will help to define them and take them on an adventure with awesome new friends.

Kate’s character was wonderfully chiseled into someone I won’t soon forget! She, and her mystery solving friends, really stole my heart! I loved following along, seeking out the clues, and seeking out what happened. It’s like Nancy Drew for the modern times!

If you have a young girl in your life that is starting to read, loves mysteries, or just wants something new, then grab a copy of this book. It’s a 4-in-1 collection of mysteries for the young ages, filled with some great messages from God, and would make the perfect book club read! I can highly recommend this with 4 stars and two thumbs up!

Camp Club Girls- Kate by Janice Thompson is the next in this series and just as exciting as the previous books. These books may be read in any order so even if you have missed the others you will still enjoy this one and won’t feel lost.
The four stories in this book are:
Kate’s Philadelphia Frenzy in which Kate needs her sports friend, Sydney, to help her solve the mystery of why the team and fans have turned against short stop, Tony Smith. Sydney loves baseball and is fan of Tony so of course she is onboard and up for a visit to Kate’s house.
Kate’s Vermont Adventure takes her and Sydney to a creamery possibly overrun with rats. Is there a rt problem or is the rat someone trying to sabotage the creamery?
Kate and the Wyoming Fossil Fiasco takes Kate and McKenzie to Fossil Camp in Wyoming. Kate has accidentally discovered fake fossils have been sent to the museum where she is helping. What happened to the real ones? When the chance to attend camp at the quarry the fossils came from comes up Kate is excited to go and knows McKenzie will be too. Can they find out what is happening before all the real fossils disappear forever?
Kate and the Pennsylvania Pretzel Pickle takes us on a tour of yummy Hershey PA as Kate attends the Young Inventors Competition. Also competing is her school rival, Phillip. Will Phillip try to sabotage Kate? Who is sabotaging the pretzel factory or is there something else at play here?
This series is wonderful for your pre-teen to teen girls. It showcases girls as being smart and courageous. These stories would be good to read as a parent and child together and discuss or as young readers group; I can imagine myself discussing them with friends when I was that age. As a grandmother, I enjoyed reading these stories also. I give this book 5 of 5 stars.
