Camp Club Girls- Kate by Janice Thompson is the next in this series and just as exciting as the previous books. These books may be read in any order so even if you have missed the others you will still enjoy this one and won’t feel lost.
The four stories in this book are:
Kate’s Philadelphia Frenzy in which Kate needs her sports friend, Sydney, to help her solve the mystery of why the team and fans have turned against short stop, Tony Smith. Sydney loves baseball and is fan of Tony so of course she is onboard and up for a visit to Kate’s house.
Kate’s Vermont Adventure takes her and Sydney to a creamery possibly overrun with rats. Is there a rt problem or is the rat someone trying to sabotage the creamery?
Kate and the Wyoming Fossil Fiasco takes Kate and McKenzie to Fossil Camp in Wyoming. Kate has accidentally discovered fake fossils have been sent to the museum where she is helping. What happened to the real ones? When the chance to attend camp at the quarry the fossils came from comes up Kate is excited to go and knows McKenzie will be too. Can they find out what is happening before all the real fossils disappear forever?
Kate and the Pennsylvania Pretzel Pickle takes us on a tour of yummy Hershey PA as Kate attends the Young Inventors Competition. Also competing is her school rival, Phillip. Will Phillip try to sabotage Kate? Who is sabotaging the pretzel factory or is there something else at play here?
This series is wonderful for your pre-teen to teen girls. It showcases girls as being smart and courageous. These stories would be good to read as a parent and child together and discuss or as young readers group; I can imagine myself discussing them with friends when I was that age. As a grandmother, I enjoyed reading these stories also. I give this book 5 of 5 stars.

I’ve had the pleasure of reading Janice Thompson’s work in the past, and was excited to give this book a try. I have read a few of these Camp Club Girls books in the past when they were in single volumes, so I was sure I would love Kate’s collection. I was right! I was not disappointed with this one!

I love a good mystery book, be it adult, young adult, or middle grade. Kate’s stories are just that: good mysteries for those of any age, but definitely good for the middle grade ages. Thompson weaves great messages for young girls, and creates stories that will help to define them and take them on an adventure with awesome new friends.

Kate’s character was wonderfully chiseled into someone I won’t soon forget! She, and her mystery solving friends, really stole my heart! I loved following along, seeking out the clues, and seeking out what happened. It’s like Nancy Drew for the modern times!

If you have a young girl in your life that is starting to read, loves mysteries, or just wants something new, then grab a copy of this book. It’s a 4-in-1 collection of mysteries for the young ages, filled with some great messages from God, and would make the perfect book club read! I can highly recommend this with 4 stars and two thumbs up!
