This is such a cute story, with different, whimsical characters, built around a declining theater in the lovely city of New Orleans.
I loved Beatrice’s zest for life and natural brightness, which is just what our surly, wounded hero, Huxley, needs.
The slow-burn romance, the humor and a set of engaging secondary characters contribute to a wonderful storyline, although I felt the second half of the story dragged a bit.

New Orleans Rush by Kelly Siskind

Five magical 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

Beatrice Baker "Bea" or "Honeybee" is whimsical, eccentric and eclectic, and I found her even more lovable because of her quirkiness. Everything about her makes you want to smile. Even though her life has been full of heartache and disappointment she still finds joy in life and everything around her.

Huxley Marlow "Surly Smurf" is so serious all work no play is trying so hard to make his dead father proud. He feels all the family business financial burden should fall on him because he's the oldest. That is until a beautiful red comes barreling into his life making him realize what's truly important in life. This book is full of so many wonderful characters that draw you into a amazing journey full magic, illusion, poker games and mobsters oh my!

This is one of my favorite quotes from the book.

"Life is unpredictable. You could get hurt. I could get hurt. But we can’t walk through the world bubble wrapped. Or in a net suit.” He ran his thumb over her bottom lip. “Then how do I protect you?” She leaned into his touch. “By eating beignets outside with me and dancing in jazzy clubs and painting and performing together. Loving me is protection enough.”

Beatrice finds herself regretting the night of drinking when she becomes the magicians assistant. He is sexy, smart, and a pain in the butt. How did she get herself in this predicament? Drinks that is how. This was a humorous, sexy, romantic and super fun book to read. The connection between the two main characters was a sight to behold and read about. Thank you NetGalley.

Omg. I loved this book! First of all, Kelly Siskind is amazing. I’ve read her other books and this one did not disappoint. Set in New Orleans (duh), Huxley and Bea meet and wowza! I loved Bea- she was so interesting and unique. And Huxley...what a man. Kelly’s writing was great because the chemistry was literally off the pages! Anyway, I loved everything about it, and I pretty please hope we get a book with the rest of the brothers! Thank you for the ARC!

This is one of the most delightfully unique stories I've read in a long time. New Orleans Rush reminded me so much of Jennifer Crusie’s books, with bizarrely quirky characters that immediately make you wonder, “How am I possibly gonna fall in love with this weirdo?” but then you do. I adored Huxley and Bea, as well as Axel, Fox, and Della. I really, really hope this is the first in a series and we get to meet the two missing Marlow boys. I must admit that I was skeptical about how much I would like this one, which just feels silly in hindsight. In the oversaturated realm of romance novels, this one is a standout. I have no doubt that I will remember this story, and these lovable characters, in a week, a month, a year, two years--you get the picture.

A heartfelt thanks to NetGalley, EverAfter Romance, and the author for providing an ARC for review.

This book pleasantly surprised me! I did not know if I was really going to like the magic aspect and I can say that I definitely did :) The romance was perfect in my opinion and I am really glad I gave this book a try

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! What an adorable, sweet story. The hero is PERFECTION. A lovely mix of alpha and beta. Loveable characters all around and I can't wait to read about the other characters' love stories, too! I could not put this book down.

This is a great read, the story of Beatrice and Huxley. After a chance meeting in a bar, she ends up being his magicians assistant. A fast paced read featuring some quirky and interesting characters - I hope this is going to be a series!

First book I have read by this author but looking forward to more!

Generally if I love something, it gets discontinued. When I read that Kelly Siskind was taking a bit of a different slant with her writing of New Orleans Rush, my first thought was “oh brother”. The Stud/Legs/Licks series is a favorite. I imagined there would be no more snarky banter, no more unique characters, no more engaging scenarios….just no more of anything I adore in a good read. BOY WAS I WRONG. New Orleans Rush is amazing. The characters are there, the sexual tension is there, the banter is there, well, it’s all in there. This is a very deep and poignant story of a couple approaching a relationship that is complicated by their pasts. I couldn’t put this story down. It gets under your skin and creeps into your own emotions until you find yourself laughing out loud, reading passages over because they are entertaining, and cheering for the hero and heroine. Next time Ms. Siskind – I will trust you to know what is best. Slam dunk and Congrats on a beautiful story.

This is a fun, emotional read with a cast of characters that is quirky and different from your standard romance fare. And when I say “quirky,” I don’t mean unbelievable oddball or manic pixie dream girl (though the book could easily have swerved that way). Instead, the line is nicely drawn between people who are creative and free-spirited in their own ways and more than a little desperate (mostly for money).

Going backstage at a magic act is a hell of a lot of fun and it adds intensity and a bit of extra sexy tension to see Bea learn how the tricks work and trust Huxley to do his illusions without hurting her. There’s real danger here, too: Huxley’s own father lost his life in a water trick and that reality always hangs over him.

I was given an Advance Reader’s Copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. Bea is fun, quirky, likeable character. Huxley is broody and serious. Total opposites but totally good together. Highly recommended.

I should preface this review with the statement that I'm a big fan of this author's work and she certainly did not disappoint with New Orleans Rush. I had a feeling that this would be a bit different from her other releases, but never dreamed it would make me smile and laugh and cry as much as it did! Beatrice absolutely stole my heart-she is such a breath of fresh air-quirky, sweet, kind & adorable! And Huxley couldn't have been more perfect & swoon-worthy. I've never been to NOLA, but when I close my eyes, I can see it. The depth of her writing is extraordinary! I want to jump on a plane and go see the Marvelous Marlow Brothers on stage right now! As with everything else, the secondary characters are well-developed and add so much color to an already vivid and rich story. The Marlow boys are each interesting characters in their own right, but together they're a force to be reckoned with. Pure perfection and truly magical -- I loved everything single thing about this book and highly recommend reading it! 10+ stars!
