Having read the description of this book I expected simple yet nutritious and interesting recipes. However I was disappointed, and primarily because of the amount of sugar in many of the recipes as well as the plethora of canned and prepared ingredients. I accept that for many parents, speed of preparation is important, but for me the major advantage of a slow cooker is the ability to prepare great nutritious meals, and in this respect this recipe book fell short. For example, the Chunky Beef Potpie included canned cream of chicken soup, canned onion soup mix, brown gravy mix and refrigerated pie crusts. The Venison Tenderloin comprised 4 ingredients, three of which were canned cream of mushroom soup, canned cream of chicken soup and a packet of ranch dressing mix! Definitely not my style of cooking.

The introduction to "Slow Cooker Magic" includes a guide to buying a crockpot as well as a troubleshooting guide which would be very useful for someone new to crockpot cooking.

In order to give a fair review of the book I tried two recipes that had no canned or prepared ingredients; the Ruby Port Wine braised lamb shanks were tasty and quick to prepare, although I did find that 3 cups of port and 2 cups of stock were a lot of liquid for 4 shanks. However, the Veggie Loaded Spaghetti was uninspiring and soggy - sautéing the vegetables would have brought out more flavour, and stock instead of water would have added. Spaghetti cooked in the sauce for 30 minutes on high was definitely not al dente. It would not have taken much longer to quickly stir fry the vegetables and cook the spaghetti on the stove top to produce a far tastier meal.

I cook a lot of crockpot meals and am always looking for new recipes. The best thing about this book was, I have almost every ingredient in my kitchen that is in these recipes. One of our new favorite recipes is the chicken mole. Who knew it was so easy to make and with ingredients that anyone would have. Though there is only about 10 pictures in the whole book, I was still able to picture what the final recipe would look like. I also found the ladies Facebook and website, where many of the recipes were listed with pictures, as well as many other recipes that I loved as well. This would make a great gift to go with a crockpot for any newlywed.

A bog-standard slow cooker cookbook. Not a bad collection but not super-inspired either :c)

A good place to start if you've not used your Crock Pot much :c)

I am a devout crock pot user and I found a lot of new ideas for different meals in this book. I like that there are recipes that are good for everyday meals, but there are also some that would work for a fancier dinner type event.

The Crock-Pot Ladies Big Book of Slow Cooker Dinners is a wonderful addition to my cookbooks. I am always looking for healthy, easy meals to make for my family and this ticks all my boxes. It includes healthy, easy to follow, yummy recipes for the whole family to enjoy.

I also found the additional information in the cookbook with some great tips and tricks extremely helpful. I only rediscovered my love for my slow cooker after having children and now I'd be lost without it. I meal prep the night before, throw everything in the slow cooker in the morning and don't have to rush at the last minute to prepare a meal during the witching hour. This book adds to the variety I can offer my family too.

Thank you to #netgalley and the authors and publisher for the copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I know that instant pots are the rage, but I am still using my slow cooker and have not invested in the instant pot and so I was excited to get this arc. There is a lot of helpful information at the beginning of the book about slow cookers, freezing food, and troubleshooting. I'm really excited to try some of the soups, chilis and stew recipes. I only wish that they had nutritional information included, otherwise, it's a great book.

What a wonderful, easy book to use in the modern day kitchen! Who doesn't love to come home to a warm, aroma-filled kitchen- and to a delicious, one-pot meal? I've already tried two of the recipes, and can't wait to make more of these crock pot meals.

The ladies begin by informing you as to what kind of crockpot you need and why it is important. You are also given instructions on how to use a slow cooker and what the temperatures are for cooking different types of meats.
This is not a healthy cookbook, it is a comfort food cookbook!
There are recipes for Spicy Jalepeno Popper Dip using different types of cheeses and peppers and bread crumbs, Everything You Love About Pizza Dip using mozzarella, parmesan cheese, Italian sausage and pizza sauce and a Southwestern Creamy White Chicken using chicken, broth, Great Northern Beans and corn that sound delicious and warming on a cold winters’ day.
Many of the recipes use frozen, fresh or easy to precook foods that make dinner preparation easy and fun to do!

I have died and gone to heaven, a 300+ page of recipes all designed for my favourite appliance in the house, my slow cooker! I love using the slow cooker when cooking for my family, especially given the many time constraints in our daily lives. The recipes in this book are diverse, family friendly, user friendly and to be quite honest, all sound delicious. I had not previously heard of the Crock-Pot Ladies but have now signed up to their facebook page and also applied to join their online group. I look forward to trying out a lot of the recipes in the book. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Ms. Kennedy, Ms Handing and Ms Ince for the opportunity to review The Big Book of Slow Cooker Dinners in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It goes through the processes one by one. It teaches about the sizes and uses of each crock pot, talks about how which crock pot, slow cooker, fits the needs of the types of foods you are going to prepare and gives a list of all the desires bells and whistles. I never realized how much a crock pot could be utilized. I thought the recipes sounded and looked delicious and yet seemed like a beginner cook to experienced one could accomplish them easily. I think cooking in a crock pot once you get the basics down and get into the recipes would be convenient, easy and well worth doing. This is an ideal manual for learning all the steps of using a crock pot. I recommend it to all, especially nice for busy people.

I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley and the opinions are my own. This is a very good read.

The Crock-Pot Ladies Big Book of Slow Cooker Dinners truly lives up to its title as the book contains plenty of varied recipes ranging from Chicken to game such as bison. At the start of the cookbook you will find a Slow Cooker's Buyer's Guide that details how to select a slow cooker. Later you will read a size guide that tells about the different sizes of slow cookers and how many people they will serve. For example a 1 to 3 quart slow cooker is perfect for 1 to 2 people while a 8 quart or large slow cooker will serve 9 or more people.

This was s good cookbook about getting the best use of of your crock-pot or slow cooker. This was a good book with recipes for appetizers, main courses, vegetable sides, and dessert. It also had a freezer cooking component and would give you tips for particular recipes on how to convert them to freezer meals. In the beginning there were also pretty good tips on using your slow cooker which I found really useful, being a longtime fan of slow cooking. This was a good book with varied recipes and I would recommend to people looking to learn about slow cooking or freezer meals.

The Crock-Pot Ladies Big Book of Slow Cooker Dinners is just that. It is 300+ pages of scrumptious and mouth watering recipes. I have bookmarked more recipes than I probably have time to make! All the recipes, as the title suggests, are made in the crock pot. The chapters include: appetizers, dips, stews, chili, soups, pasta, casseroles, poultry, beef, venison, bison, pork, lamb, veggies for dinner and sides, and finally desserts. There is advice on what crock pot to buy, how to test your crock pot, how to clean your crock pot, well I guess you get the idea. I don't think the authors left anything out. It has arrived for the perfect time of year when we all would like to have something hot waiting for us when we come home.
