Seems like a great start to a new series.
Full of suspenseful moments that keep you on the edge of your seat!
Main character, Jenna/Jessica wakes up on a train with no idea why she’s there nor any memory at all. Can you imagine? Waking up with no knowledge of who you are, where you are or what is going on has got to be so scary.
Who are the bad people?
Wo are the good people?

This book was just an okay read. Although there were a few twists in it the story overall was quite predictable and did not keep me interested.

I read this series in the wrong order. I just finished reading Proof of Life and LOVED IT.

Now, that I finished reading What She Saw all I can say is WOW.

The story is intriguing. Can you imagine waking up on a train and not being able to remember how you got there? And then, the more you think about it the scary part is realizing you do not even know who you are, your name.

Great character development. Overall, this is definitely a 5 star read.

Absolutely captivating! Full of suspense! An intense novel that will have you up all night reading. Definitely recommend.

This was a fast paced story that I tore through as quick as I could. The story opens with a young woman on a train, with no relocation of how she got there, or who she was. I was always curious with memory loss how people can not remember their name, but they can remember other things, like how to walk, or body parts. But that is beside the point.

I really enjoyed this story, and only knocked off a star because the ending is JUST a little too much for me. But not enough to make me dislike the entire book.

I would love to read another book from this author!

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I cannot decide whether I really enjoyed this book or not..... I started off with enthusiasm but soon found myself frustrated by the interruption of 'voices' supposedly from Jenna's mind.... it reminded me of Gollum from Lord of the Rings and I found the narrative at these points annoying. However looking beyond these moments, the story has a lot of promise....... Yes very far fetched but nobody ever claims it to be a realistic novel. Enjoy the ride for what it is.... a piece of escapism and a good holiday read.

This book will grab you. I couldn't put it down. I moved along with everyone it, going down
every road and highway, as if I was part of the mystery. I could visualize the town of Ventura,
driving down the 101, each place in the book. There are surprises around every turn.

“What She Saw” by Sheila Lowe is the first book in the “Beyond the Veil” mystery series. It presents a complex and problematic situation. A young woman wakes up on a train with amnesia, no memory of anything, not even her name. She is relieved when someone recognizes her and gives her a ride home. Her home poses more questions than answers when she discovers double Identification, double keys, double lives. Thus starts a traumatic journey to find her identity. Readers follow as she seeks answers but finds only secrets, secrets, and more secrets. Danger lurks on every page. Lowe draws readers into the story with fluid writing and a quick pace. There is plenty of suspense, drama, conspiracy, and even humor.

I received a copy of “What She Saw” from Sheila Lowe, Suspense Publishing, and Net Galley as part of the release of book two in the series, “Proof of Life.” I enjoyed both books, and I read the second book before this, the first one. It was interesting to see how the theme and the characters started, knowing how they continued in the next book. Both books are quick to read, have interesting characters, and deal with the supernatural within the context of a gripping yet pleasing storyline.

The beginning of the book starts off great with a woman on a train just waking up with amnesia. She has a sense she knows where she's headed but doesn't know why. Eventually she feels her way around and does a good job of faking it, but still doesn't know who she is. As she starts finding her way we meet several characters of interest, and the story gets more and more involved. The pacing was good, although I found it stretched a bit with some of the locations, Escondido isn't that close to Ventura to just be a jot over there and back. Ms Lowe lives in Ventura, I believe so she would know the area well The ending is very twisty turny and almost too convoluted but all in all mostly wrapped up this mystery well. I appreciate the ARC from NetGalley.

A woman wakes up on a train and has no memory. She does not know her name or where she lives but she knows she is afraid, especially of the police. She gets off the train and walks in a daze trying to remember a landmark or something familiar. A man speaks to her and knows her name. He lets her into her apartment building. Flashes of memory and confusion with what she finds in her apartment make her afraid. Very afraid.
I loved the twists and turns in this story. It was fast paced full of action and about identity, memory loss and family relationships.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book

jen comes to on a train not knowing who she is or where she is going, and what follows is an amazing story of how she unravels the mystery of what is happening

a fast paced book that introduces us to the characters that are important to jen

why cant jen remember anything but going back to work may help her memory but could she really be having an affair with her boss...

other things dont feel right and then she finds a memory stick hidden and trying to get it out of her workplace becomes difficult...

A definitely good thriller. The book jacket and cover description are intriguing enough to make a reader stop and pick this one to read. The story line, while not unique, has enough twists and turns on the amnesia back story, to keep you reading, trying to figure out what happened and where the story will take us. Sheila Lowe has given the characters enough back story that you feel as if you know them and want to help. As the story quickly moves forward, I kept turning pages long after lights out time. The way the characters react to events seems real enough to be on the news. The book overall is one I'd recommend to anyone and have in fact, added to many TBR piles already.

I really wanted to enjoy it, as it's the sort of book I would devour in one sitting. Sadly, it didn't fully do it for me and I struggled to keep engaged with the book.
I found the protagonist was unlikeable, her actions unbelievable. I personally struggled with the numerous Americanisms and the American locations in the book. I am completely aware that is my problem, but that became a barrier to my enjoyment. On the whole the writing was good, but the plotting was over-complicated and confusing.
I kept reading to the end and the book's later twists and turns were good.

Go into this book blind! I mean, you can keep reading my review if you wish, but so would advise you turn around now and one-click this story. All the words in the world cannot give justice to Sheila and the intricate story she wove. This is by far one of the better books I have ever read, and it will surely stick with me for years to come. Seriously, I have been recommending it to anyone who will listen! I received this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I can’t go too in depth, or I will give the story away. Just know, I went into the book pretty blindly and WOW. If you like shockers, just go with it. I thought the book climaxed at 55% and boy was I WRONG! You will be hooked the entire time! The first chapter is a little slow, but necessary. Just trust me. You won’t be sorry!

I will tell the members of chapter chatter pub that it is out!

What She Saw # NetGalley
Sheila Lowe

This is the first Sheila Lowe novel I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is always fun to read books about twins. The two twins Jenna and Jessica manage to get themselves into a lot of trouble. I enjoyed reading about how they got themselves out of their predicaments. Along the way we meet Dr Gold, a psychiatrist, Claudia Rose, the handwriting analysis expert and other characters who are well defined. It will keep you guessing until the end. Do yourself a favor and pick up this novel to read. You will not regret it.

I received this advanced copy read from NetGally and the publisher for an honest review.
This book is a 4 star read.
