The synopsis to Reaper: Threat Zero was what caught my eye - A convoy of cars carrying several family members of the President’s cabinet to Camp David for “Family Day” is ambushed, killing and wounding wives, husbands and children.

This is a fast-paced gutsy and suspenseful story that is captivating!

The action/thriller genre is one of my favourite but for me, this novel falls short. The plot had tremendous promise but the execution was lacking.
To be fair I did not read the first in this series which may be why I felt nothing for any of the characters whatsoever. Or it may be because they were not very developed and they behaved somewhat inconsistently. At one point Reaper did not agree with a member of Team Valid Reaper and physically attacked him, however at another point this same team member completely jeopardised their mission and Reaper didn't even say anything.

Incorrect words were used sometimes - "they collapsed to an apartment", "they collapsed on the president and cabinet members" - descended on the president maybe?
Sentences were missing words and descriptions were too long or unnecessary

I know that Nicholas Irving was indeed a sniper with an impressive record and named Reaper. Unfortunately knowing the intricate details and experience of something does not automatically translate into a successful novel..

Thank to #Netgalley and #StMartin'sPress for the ARC of #Reaper:ThreatZero in exchange for my honest review.

Thrilling, fast paced action! There is no time to catch your breath as the story moves from one scene to the next. Figuring out who the bad guys are is almost impossible until the very end. The one person you are sure of is the hero, Reaper. The tactical information is very good and also super scary knowing that it is totally possible. Totally loved it!

Top-Notch Thriller

This is the second in a series featuring sniper Vic Harwood but the first I have read.

This novel sizzles from the opening pages. President Bob Smart has invited his cabinet members and their families to Camp David. The limos conveying their family members are blown up in a series of explosions coupled with sniper fire. Blood everywhere. Vic Harwood receives a message from his friend via Facebook showing him with a gun to his chin with the massacre playing out on the screen.

Evidence found implicates Sammie as one of the snipers. And other material points to the attack being orchestrated by terrorists based in the Middle East. Vic is recruited as a member of Team Valid, along with two other snipers and Valerie Hinojosa, Sammie's sister, who has a high level position in the intelligence hierarchy. The team travels to Crimea, Iran and Azerbaijan before realizing something is seriously amiss. Vic has been abandoned in Iran by the other two snipers and later realizes this was not accidental. He makes his way to Azerbaijan where he reconnects with Valerie and they make their way back to the US.

In parallel we learn that a plot is afoot to take down President Smart, involving former Presidential candidate Senator Brook Logan and her cohort of hackers and schemers.

This is fast-paced, no holds barred , political/terrorist thriller. Greatly enjoyed it.

My copy of this novel was provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Reaper Threat Zero is an exceptionally violent book. It starts with vivid descriptions of families being shot and killed, even the little ones. To me, that's taking violence to the extreme. The book did not need an attack like that. Surely the authors could have conceived a different start. But I did go on to finish the novel nd found it intriguing at times. Essentially one group shoots at another. They all get away, only to shoot another day. Eventually the good guy of the novel decides enough is enough and makes the final battle.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.

An insanely intense story that starts off with a bang!, literally. A convoy of vehicles transporting family members of the sitting Presidential Cabinet is attacked, and no one is left alive. Reaper is brought in to help investigate the apparent suicide of his friend and spotter who has ben framed as the assassin involved in the attack. Following threads provided to him by the FBI and others in the government, Reaper and a small team globe trot seemingly trying to unravel the truth.

The duo of Irving and Tata continue to have a mega-hit series with Reaper. The character is sufficiently bad-assed to survive in the Thriller genre, has personal flaws, and maintains his deeply rooted convictions, even when they cause him to question orders.

If you missed reading Ghost Target, the first in the Reaper series, you can read this book and be sufficiently "in the know" and definitely entertained. My suggestion though would be to read Ghost Target first because it too is an excellent book.

Thanks to the authors as well as St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange for my thoughts and opinions. 9.5 of 10 stars This will stand as one of the top Thrillers of 2019.

Vick Harwood, the Reaper, is clearly of super hero status. Pulling off a series of face-paced and exciting missions, the free world is once again in good hands. Couldn’t put this book down!

My thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my review.

A fast paced book that starts with an bloodbath as a convoy is struck on the way to Camp David. This sets the stage for a conspiracy for those lurking in the shadows to play America against itself to further a small group's goal of destabilizing the sitting president. The Reaper is a former special forces sniper with 33 kills during one deployment. He is a pawn in the effort of the shadow group and is left for dead in enemy territory but fights his way out and is determined to get to the bottom of what is happening. A good read that I recommend to anyone who loves military and political thrillers.
Thank you Netgalley, Nicholas Irving, A. J. Tata and St. Martin's Press for the ARC for my review,
