The book opens with Molly leaving her then-husband Carter, who had hit her. You find out later that he Jase and some others were all in the military together, Special Forces. On their last mission, Carter was injured with a brain injury and came back a different person, not the man Molly had known or married years before. Now as the night unfolds and Jase goes to find Carter the two of them get into an argument and carter leaves driving away only to end up dying in an accident. Jase who had been Carter’s friend since they were kids was torn up but for so many reasons. He had been in love with Molly way before Carter but when she saw Carter she went for him. After the funeral and she found out that she is pregnant, Jase lets his feelings for her known and she tells him she can’t. She also has a hit man who is wanting money Carter owed to his boss. Confused she leaves back to her home where her mother lives across the country. Now you begin to wonder if she is going to come back to Crimson Point or not? Will Jase be able to move on? What will the hitman do, will he be able to find her across the country? All will be answered when you read this book. Good story with good characters.

I jumped in in the middle of this series but that worked out just fine. Perfect to read as a stand alone but I think I may scoop up the previous books as well. Wonderful suspese element all mixed up in Jase and Molly's tabooish relationship.

Jase always knew Molly was the one but he deferred to his best friend. When Molly's world falls apart, Jase is there to help her. Finally, he gets the courage to tell her how she feels.

Lots of emotions rolling around this one. Great group of friends in Crimson Point to support these two as they find love again. Great story!

The hero was extremely sweet and caring and the way he took care of Molly was amazing ❤

BUT I wasn't engaged in the plot and I didn't like the way it handled "domestic violence" as a result of a traumatic event instead of it being the result of a misogynist way of thinking

Since I did read this previous ones in this no way could I leave this one out. This one is focused on Molly and Jase with them sweeping you up leaving not a speck behind. This will also pull on adrenaline juice to get it flowing as the action gets heightened. You have elements that have you gunning for the jerk that is in here also. This one had me tied up at times also but it is one that you are let go of until the last page.

“Kayla Cross” will have you glued to your kindle with this new book. “Shattered Vows” will have you on the edge of your seat, second guessing the whole way through and keep you turning the pages to find out what will happen next. Blow me away this book and so excited to see what this author writes next. Totally recommend

Deciding on a rating for this book was tough...and I mean TOUGH.

Five stars for the romance between Jase and Molly. Molly deserved someone like him, and he is a wonderfully written character.

Two stars for the plot device of Carter. I felt like all the authenticity that I respect Kaylea Cross for including in her work just went up in smoke. I actually feel betrayed to see the soap operas elements that got included in this story. I expect more from this author.

Four stars for the mob plot device. It worked up until the end, then I felt like the easy way out was taken to wrap up that device.

So how do I rate this? There are parts of I loved, parts I hated.

Overall, I guess I would give this 3.5 stars, so will round it to a 4.

This a beautiful story about finding yourself and learning how to openly love another. The writing will draw you in after only a few pages and have you finishing the book in one sitting. There is the perfect amount of angst and romance to keep you hooked. I loved how the relationship unfolded so we could see these amazing characters grow in ways they never expected. I would suggest picking up a copy asap, you will not be disappointed.

Shattered Vows is the long awaited (for me) story of Molly and Jase. The last we saw of these two was after the death of Molly’s ex-husband, Carter, and finding out that she was pregnant. We know going in that Jase has been in love with Molly from the moment they both met, but Carter was the one that go to her first. As much as my heart broke for all the things that Molly had endured, I think it was Jase I felt more for. To see the happiness that Molly and Carter had shared for years, being the best man at the wedding and then to witness the effect of Carter’s traumatic brain injury must have been excruciating for Jase. Even with Molly free, he knew he couldn’t go there with her so he remained as the stoic friend, doing whatever he could to make life easy for Molly and her unborn baby. But things start changing for both of them. Molly is starting to see Jase in a different light and this scares her and she runs. With Jase, his feelings were increasing so much that he took a chance and told Molly his feelings and was rejected. Oh my heart, this was hard for me to see. On top of all this, some of Carter’s past erratic behavior is coming out and placing Molly in danger. The whole team is there for Molly and trying to keep her safe.

The suspense portion definitely kept me on my toes, seeing the evil and desperation of some people was tough. But overall, it was the love story between Jase and Molly that made this book for me. There were many heartbreaking moments, for both characters, but they both also showed such strength and they finally fought for each other. There were some that did not appreciate the scenes of Molly and Jase reminiscing about Carter, but I actually really appreciated it. The old Carter meant so much to them both and tried to remember the good times and not the bad. And that epilogue was just beautiful! A wonderful story and I can not wait for the next installment.

Third in the Crimson Point series and although you could technically read this without having read the previous two books, I'd highly recommend it. As in her previous series, the author has a tendency of peppering pieces of future couples' stories into previous books in the series. I definitely feel that some of these insights help "set the scene/tone" and give some background - this is particularly true in this case as we've been getting bits and pieces of Molly and Jase's story since book #1.

Jase was incredibly protective and loyal. It was quite endearing and swoon-worthy and although we'd gotten to know him in the previous books, we obviously get to know him better in his own book - what a great character. Molly was a strong, independent woman dealing with a truly tragic situation involving her ex-husband. She was dealt a rough hand, but kept moving forward. She was a bit wishy-washy at times, but given what she'd been through, it was understandable.

As always I like that Cross deals with sensitive/timely issues like PTSD head-on in her books and doesn't marginalize the issue or simply use it as a plot device. She handled the subject respectfully and managed to convey the impact it can have on not only the victims themselves, but their friends and loved ones.

*Advance copy provided by the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.*

Molly and Jase have been friends for years. Jase and Carter, Molly’s husband, were best friends and team members in the military. But a career ending injury for Carter changed everything. Things changed again when Carter was killed in a car accident. Molly is not sure how she’s going to make it and Jase is determined to be there to help her through whatever she needs. Neither expected the danger that came from a part of Carter’s life that no one knew anything about.

Okay, first off, this book was bloody adorable!!! Who says a book with a hot shirtless man on the front has to be a horrible, trashy read with poor grammar and no plot? This book is everything that that last book I read wasn't. It was a story with a plot and with purpose, not just a thinly veiled sex infested. It has substance. It's about discovering and building a relationship that will stand the tests of time. This book was what my soul needed. Just a sweet story of two people finding their way to happiness together after over coming self imposed hurdles and an unknown threat. After all, a little suspense and an action scene or two never hurt anyone, right?

The majority of the book is just this sweet dual perspective from two people who are on different levels of attraction for each other in the beginning, but slowly working their way to a mutual level of attraction and absolutely adorable love. Adorable, I say!!! The author cleverly throws in a few other perspectives from people close to the pair to give a bit more of a complete picture (and I daresay, a hook for the next book?).

Jase is this wonderful man who desperately wants his shot with the woman he has secretly loved for years. It's not the way she looks (which he loves), it's her personality that has drawn him in. The way she can light up a room with her smile. The way she laughs. The gleam she gets in her eye when she's gearing up to verbally take someone on. He loves her for her and despite his best efforts, his need to let her know how he feels it leaking out and making her shy away.

Molly is this wonderful woman who takes all the hurdles life is throwing at her with such grace. With her ex gone and his past actions coming back to bite her in the ass, she takes it all in stride, on top of everything else. She starts off liking Jase as a good friend. But she notices how her reactions change to his presence. But she's clear with herself that it will never change their relationship because she couldn't stand another heart break. When he confesses he feels the same, she panics and everything is thrown out of balance for the two of them.

Sigh...so sweet.

The only thing that got me was when there is finally some 'action' between the two of them I noticed a repeat in the phrasing about nipples within two-three paragraphs of each other and I mentally fell out of the story for a moment thinking "How f**king tight can one woman's nipples get???" It kinda took away from the story. I also didn't require the epilogue. While it was a bit funny, I would have liked it if it had ended with "even the bullet part" from the end of the last chapter.

In Conclusion

Shattered Vows it a true romance novel. It's a sweet story of two people stumbling through to meeting each other on an emotional level with some suspenseful tones throughout that didn't take away, but rather added to the awesomeness of the book.

I am totally recommending this to my girl friends!

This was definitely a new twist to a romance. A pregnant widow and her deceased ex-husband’s best friend. Their relationship is not without its road blocks. Molly certainly plays the hot and cold widow to a T.
It’s an interesting dance. 5 stars!!

Molly and Jase find a way to heal from the past and a pathway together with a future in this Crimson Point book 3. A page turning story with good characters and story line.

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

3 stars.
I haven’t read the previous 2 books in this series, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not reading the other books.
I have to admit I was a little disappointed with ‘Shattered Vows’. I thought from the blurb that there would be more angst from the characters, more indecision or conflict from them having to try and reconcile their feelings for each other with the death of Carter. But the feelings between Molly and Jake were kind of just accepted and that was it.
The suspense part of the book was a little unbelievable. I thought the villain was comical. He came across like a villain from a bad ‘B’ grade movie.
I found ‘Shattered Vows’ to be just an ok read. I thought it was good, but not great.

I've been anticipating Molly and Jase's book ever since Book 1 and Kaylea hinted about them. Sad about what happened to Molly's ex-husband and Jase's former best friend but eh. I love the angst, wouldn't mind more of it, but so glad that Molly finally took a chance on her feelings for Jase because boy had been holding a torch for her FOREVER.

Mac and Tiana's book next! I adore them already.

Shattered Vows by Kaylea Cross is the third book in the Crimson Point series, but the first I read. I did not find myself lost at any point and I am excited to go back and read them. When I read the blurb for this book, I was very excited to read it! An ex’s best friend who has always loved the wife of his best friend and now she may be in danger. What does he do? Step in to keep her safe of course!

This story was a forbidden second chance romance. Jase Weaver has always loved Molly Boyd, but she married another man. Now she needs his help and he will do anything to keep her safe. I absolutely love Jase, he was protective, patient and caring. Molly had dealt with so much and though she wanted to move forward, she found it hard at times. Could this be both their second chance at love?

Shattered Vows by Kaylea Cross was an emotional and touching second chance romance. The characters had a great connection, but so much history. Their journey was not an easy one, but their love was strong.

I am officially obsessed with this story. I loved Molly and Jase. My heart broke for her and the way the author helped you understand and sympathize with Carter's issue. Military head trauma is so often overlooked and misunderstood. I appreciated the past views of Carter before the injury as well. There were moments I truly bit my nails wondering how Jase and Molly's story would play out and if they would find the happiness they both deserved. As always the side characters are amazing and I am far too excited to get Mac's story. Worth every minute of reading!

Love is never easy…

I knew Molly and Jase’s relationship was going to be a messy one to resolve but I had no idea how complicated things were going to get! Jase had loved Molly since the first time they met. He stayed in the background, standing up for his best friend who married the woman he himself wanted. When circumstances changed, Jase thought now might be his time...

When timing is everything, these two just could not catch a break! Or get on the same page. Guilt was a huge issue, understandably, and a whole host of other things worked to keep them apart. The push and pull was one thing that never changed as they each tried to reconcile their feelings with the other and a ghost…. Misunderstandings persisted and outside forces caused havoc making this a roller coaster for their hearts. And mine.

If you are looking for lots of angst, danger and suspense with your romance than this story will tick all the boxes. Marry that with friends and family that support, cajole and poke when needed, then this story has it all!
