Ms. Cross made me like Molly's husband and feel bad for him in the previous 2 books. I actually was cheering for him that he would be able to overcome his problems so they could work things out, of course beating Molly did bring him down a peg or two in my eyes. I know that Jase and Molly would have never had a chance, but I guess I always root for the damaged people. So other that her husband having to die for this book to happen, I did like their story.

Omg I loved this novel! This author grabbed me from the very first page to the very last. I did not want to put this novel down. I loved this story! There were moments my heart was breaking for these characters and all they had been through. I loved Jase and Molly. I love when a novel can make you laugh, cry and then leave you with a happy heart, this novel did just that for me. I loved it!

4.25 stars-- SHATTERED VOWS is the third instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporary, adult CRIMSON POINT romantic suspense series focusing on the people of Crimson Point, Oregon, and a group of former Special Forces soldiers. This is ER nurse Molly Boyd, and thirty-four year old, former Special Forces soldier Sergeant Jase Weaver’s story line. SHATTERED VOWS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an on-going premise throughout.

NOTE: SHATTERED VOWS contains scenes of graphic violence that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.

If you have not read the previous instalments, there may be some spoilers in my reviews.

Told from several third person perspectives including Molly and Jase SHATTERED VOWS follows the friends to lovers relationship between ER nurse Molly Boyd, and thirty -four year old, former Special Forces soldier Sergeant Jase Weaver. Molly’s husband Carter Boyd’s life spiralled out of control following an IED attack that left him with a traumatic brain injury. Weeks after Carter’s death Molly discovers her late husband’s past has come seeking retribution, retribution Molly is unable to pay. For years Jase Weaver has stayed on the sidelines watching the woman he loves marry his best friend, a friend whose injury destroyed them all. With a second chance to make things right, Jase starts a slow seduction of the woman he loves but a seduction that is stopped before it begins. What ensues is the building romance between Molly and Jase, and the fall-out as Molly is targeted by her late-husband’s past.

Jase Weaver has been in love with his best friend’s wife from the first time they met but Molly fell in love with someone else. Molly’s life was never the same following the IED attack that damaged her husband beyond repair, damages that would destroy Carter’s life.

The relationship between Molly and Jase is a best friend’s wife to lovers romance that focuses on heart break, grief, and the fall-out of war. Molly and Jase struggled with the guilt of moving on while the man they once loved was no longer alive. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Sierra and Beckett (Fractured Honor #1), Noah and Poppy (Buried Lies #2), as well as the return of Royal Marine Aidan MacIntyre; and Tiana Fitzgerald. Tiana and Aidan’s story line is next in Rocky Ground.

The world building continues to focus on the friendships and relationships of the former Special Forces soldiers: their struggle to move forward as the ghosts from the past continue to haunt their days and nights.

SHATTERED VOWS is a story of grief and loss, friendships and love, struggle and battling demons from the past. The premise is intriguing and engaging; the characters are colourful, charismatic and spirited; the romance is captivating and seductive. SHATTERED VOWS is a sexy, sensitive and edgy story of second chances and HEA.

I absolutely love this series! Jase is the perfect hero and Molly is his perfect match. The anticipation for their story was worth it. Carter is gone but he left behind one last ordeal that may cause them even more loss. Full of suspense, tension, and the perfect amount of romance, this is a must read! I cannot wait for the next one.

Shattered Vows was my first Kaylea Cross book and even though it is the third in the series it was able to stand on its own.
Molly (a few months into a pregnancy) had just divorced Carter, her abusive (now ex) husband (and former Special Forces operative) when he died in a car accident. Jase (also a former Special Forces operative), Carter's former best friend has loved Molly since the night they met. In the months following Carter's death as Molly works to get her life in order, figure out how she is going to handle the challenges of raising a child, and process her changing feelings for Jase, Jase works to support Molly, keep his non platonic feelings for her under control, and to protect Molly from the lingering consequences of Carter's actions.
In books with characters with military backgrounds PTSD is often addressed, but (while PTSD is a serious issue faced by many service members (and I am thrilled with the increase in awareness)) Shattered Vows was the first that I can remember reading to address Traumatic Brain Injuries. It did so in a way that highlighted the life changing effects a TBI can have on a person and those closest to them that (as a person in the mental health field) I appreciated.
The main support characters are well developed and most either have had or are going to have their own stories told within the series. I am looking forward to going back and reading from the beginning.
The book was well paced; there was enough there for me to become emotionally invested in Jase and Molly, but not so much that I became frustrated by the amount of time it took for things to progress or that the warm fuzzies I get from Romance novels were outweighed by the discomfort of anxiety and/or annoyance.
NSFW scenes were sexy enough to be satisfying without being eye roll inducing.

Shattered Vows
by Kaylea Cross

I read Shattered Vows as a stand-alone, not realizing it was part of a series. But, I was hooked from the beginning all the way to the end. Kaylea Cross made the characters so detailed that it didn’t matter where you jumped into the series, you knew everything about the characters.

My heart went out to Molly as her world came crashing down around her. Her late ex-husband left her beaten, pregnant and a debt from loan sharks. But, at her side through it all was his best friend and hers, Jase Weaver. As the story progresses we see both struggling, Molly with a blossoming love for Jase, and a unrequited love he’s had for her possibly becoming real.

This book gave me everything I was looking for in a romance and I assure you, you’ll love it as much as I did!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. The thoughts and opinions are my own.

I volunteered to read and review a readers copy through Netgallery of Fractured Honor . This is a fantastic story I really enjoyed reading it .
It's full of suspense and intrigue, heartbreak , dispair ,dark times . It also has love and great friendships and family . This story takes you on quite a journey . Beckett is a troubled special forces military man . Sierra is a veterinarian with a beautiful soul and has loved Beckett most of her life . If you throw in alittle girl , an old dog and great friends and a great storyline you get a fantastic story . It's a well written statement , outstanding characters .
It's an emotional heart wrenching at times mixed with humour and love it's a winner . I highly recommend taking the time to read I'll definitely be reading more from this author

We have met Molly in the previous two stories in this series "Fractured Honor" and "Buried Lies" and though you don't have to read them before this book I would recommend it as it will make it much easier to follow the storyline

Jase Weaver always loved Molly Boyd but she fell in love with his best friend so he had to hide his feelings but that didn't mean that they went away Now Molly is the widow of his friend he suffered from PTSD and they were in the process of divorcing when he died. Will he be able to move on with his feelings will he tell Molly how he feels will she resiprocate. The interesting thing about this book is that is a total 180 from the norm her the hero pines for the female character Will they finally get the HEA that they deserve you will need to read to find out

We already know what happens in the prologue from Noah's story.

Is it really necessary to finish this right now, Jase? You should be in bed. At least you haven't lost your sense of humor.

His grandpa must have been very important to him.

The gun salutes are always mystifying to me.

Carter's parents are horrible.

She didn't get the guy's name?

The lackey needs money. Ironic.

Man, the funeral was practically a party compared to this wake.

I don't know that I would have wanted pictures of Carter after the injury.

So creepy and disturbing.

Heehee, Mrs. Wong is fun even when she's hurt!

What is running away going to accomplish?

She can't expect him to wait around, hoping for crumbs.

Aw, poor Ella learned a hard lesson. I hope she can trust men later on.

Janet's a moron.

Dammit. Jase survived war. He gets shot on home soil? That sucks.

Irony is real, Rafe.

Best present ever.

Aw, Carter is definitely watching.

Glad her mom and grandma go their heads out of their butts.

Molly is an ER nurse and married to Carter, a former Green Beret, but he came back from a mission with TBI. Their marriage has been going downhill since. She files for divorce but he comes after her. Jase has loved Molly since he meet her, he saw her first but when she laid eyes on Carter, that was it. Now Carter is gone, she’s pregnant, and had debt collectors after her. They want her insurance money but they don’t know how they are going to rule the accident. Jase will do anything to keep her safe and admits his feelings but Molly is scared. She’s been through so much and thinks Jase could turn out like Carter. It takes some time for her to figure out her feelings but she doesn’t want to lose his friendship. She is working and gets threatened by the man wanting the money Carter owed them. Jase comes just in time and chases them. He gets shot after shooting the other two. Can they get him to the hospital in time to save him?

Loved this story. Action, mystery, sex, and a nail biter. There are some parts that may bring a tear to your eye. Romantic and so darn good I hated for it to end.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This is book three in a series and while the story continues from the second book, there is plenty of explanation if you have not read any of the previous books or need a refresher since reading the previous books.

Molly has really had it rough when her husband returns from a deployment with a brain injury that totally changes the fun loving husband into a violent wife beater. Then to make matters worse, Carter leaves her with a mess after he dies.

Jase has always loved Molly but she choose Carter and he has always been in the background. There are a lot of sad times for them as their romance is not a smooth one and Molly has some issues that she needs to overcome if she decides that she wants to be with Jase.

Lots of drama, intrigue, and a great HEA for Jase and Molly. We also get a bit of a preview when we see Tiana and Mac (Aiden) who will be in the next book. Looking forward to the continuing story of this group and to see what is in Tiana's past!

This is the third book in the Crimson Point series and while technically it can be read on its own, I highly recommend reading the other books in the series. In the earlier books, we saw the troubles Molly was having with her husband Carter and just why she had filed for divorce. After being injured in Afghanistan, Carter was struggling mentally and Molly was no longer able to safely live with him. Fortunately for her Jase was always there but until this book, Molly never knew just how far Jase was willing to go for her. And who wouldn't want a guy like Jase in their corner!
This was a terrific novel of romantic suspense and I appreciated how the author handled Molly and her mixed feelings regarding Carter. It felt as though she was very sensitive in the way she handled the entire Carter situation. It looks as though the next book will be centered around Tiana and Mac, given Tiana's background that should prove to be a great read.

I knew this was going to be a bit of a tumultuous read. Between Survivors Guilt, unrequited love and trying to protect Molly, you know Jase was never going to have it easy.

Molly may appear to some as thinking Jase was 2nd best but she clearly admits to wanting him first before she was dazzled by Carter. But it was clear that whilst they may have loved each other, Carter wasn't always the perfect hubby. Even before his slide into insanity due to his TBI, Carter seems to have been able to take his wife all too easily for granted.

Molly deserves happiness and her baby deserves a family. One that wants them rather than feeling an obligation to want them. Molly's own family aren't exactly going to win any medals either. I've always been a proponent of a family is what you make it and Molly seems to be ready to embrace that too. Crimson Point is now her home and no-one, not even Carter, his ghost or his bad decisions are going to chase her away!

Jase and Molly may seem to fall into a relationship quickly but Molly and Carter were apart for a long time before she finally left him and love has it' own timetable. it won't arrive when society or small-minded folks, determine the right amount of time has passed.

Looking forward to Mac and Tiana's story. Come on Mac, do the home country proud - even if you are from Edinburgh and the girl who broke your heart was a Glaswegian like me!

I have been eagerly awaiting Jase and Molly's story, and it didn't let me down! The author does a good job of making this a story that can stand alone, but I really recommend reading the earlier installments to truly understand and appreciate the dynamics. I just loved Jase and how protective he is. It was so satisfying seeing him and Molly finally come together! The suspense really took things to the next level for me. The last two chapters were just adorable and really showed why I love these two together. Can't wait for the next installment!

Molly Boyd’s husband, Carter, is dead. He suffered greatly from PTSD and was becoming a danger to her and to himself. As a nurse and wife, she had done everything she could to help him, but it was never enough. Molly is pregnant and Carter never knew that he was going to be a father. Thank goodness for her many friends in Crimson Point, especially Jase Weaver. Jase was Carter’s best friend and along with her many friends has helped Molly through this terrible tragedy. Jase has loved Molly, from afar, and has always had her back and now she needs him more than ever. Something in Carter’s past has brought danger to Molly and her baby and Jase will be there to protect her. Can he keep her safe and protect his heart? Molly is beginning to have “more than friend” feelings for Jase, but does this make her disloyal to Carter? A wonderful continuation of the Crimson Point series where the town takes care of their own and friends become family. Ms. Cross writes a wonderful romantic suspense series making you (especially me) eager for the next book. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. How can you not root for Molly and Jase? You couldn't ask for a sweeter love story. Throw in some action , danger and some bad guys and you have the perfect read.

Finally, Jase and Molly get their story. It feels like I've been waiting forever since their story has played out slowly over several books. One of the best things about these two characters is their willingness to do what's best for the other person no matter what. They are loyal to their friends and thoughtful and caring. This was a case of going from opposites attract (Molly and her late husband Carter) to finding a soul mate similar enough to read you like a book. I enjoyed the characters from the previous books being so present in this book and also the pop in from quirky Zoe from another favorite series. This had a lot of tension, a little bit of danger, and a realistic look at finding love after grief. I really enjoyed it.

I received an ARC from Net Galley.

I am officially obsessed with this story. I loved Molly and Jase. My heart broke for her and the way the author helped you understand and sympathize with Carter's issue. Military head trauma is so often overlooked and misunderstood. I appreciated the past views of Carter before the injury as well. There were moments I truly bit my nails wondering how Jase and Molly's story would play out and if they would find the happiness they both deserved. As always the side characters are amazing and I am far too excited to get Mac's story. Worth every minute of reading!

Love is never easy…

I knew Molly and Jase’s relationship was going to be a messy one to resolve but I had no idea how complicated things were going to get! Jase had loved Molly since the first time they met. He stayed in the background, standing up for his best friend who married the woman he himself wanted. When circumstances changed, Jase thought now might be his time...

When timing is everything, these two just could not catch a break! Or get on the same page. Guilt was a huge issue, understandably, and a whole host of other things worked to keep them apart. The push and pull was one thing that never changed as they each tried to reconcile their feelings with the other and a ghost…. Misunderstandings persisted and outside forces caused havoc making this a roller coaster for their hearts. And mine.

If you are looking for lots of angst, danger and suspense with your romance than this story will tick all the boxes. Marry that with friends and family that support, cajole and poke when needed, then this story has it all!

Molly was in danger from the very first opening of Chapter One. What surprised me was where the immediate danger was coming from. What a great way to start a book. And the emotional intensity continued because let's face it, Jase had an unrequited love for Molly, for years. Add to that, the physical danger starts to ramp up and it comes from a place that Molly would never have suspected. But that danger is absolutely real and potentially vicious. Because this person (a.k.a. John) is extremely violent and we see example after example of what he does to people who cross him. *Shiver*
Molly is a really good main character and has a good cast of people who love and support her. Included in that group is her BFF's, Sierra & Poppy. There is also some good men in her group of friends that both Molly and Jase share. Men who were fellow military brothers who share a really tight bond.
Jase makes for the perfect book boyfriend. He's sweet, protective and loyal to his friends. And he has some mad skills; some from the military, some in accounting, some in restoring a special car. That isn't even touching on his skill and care as a lover. Yes, there will be some steamy scenes in this book. He is so unbelievably tender with people. Well, at least those who aren't trying to hurt Molly that is. It didn't take long before I was definitely Team Jase being with Molly. I just wondered how they were going to get there and how much pain it was going to take.
Some cute, funny scenes were added by a little girl named Ella and her passionate love of animals. Walker is one of her neighbors dragging sad faced waddling dog. Ella is totally in love with him and spends all of the time that she can with him. Ella's single mother, Tiana is fiercely protective of her daughter and she has some good reasons to feel that way. Aiden who also likes to be called Mac shows up in the story as he meets Ella with Walker and is charmed by her. He also butts heads with Tiana who instantly becomes a fierce Mama Bear when she spots them together. I do want to read that story also because the times that Aiden did show up in the story he did make me smile with his Scottish brogue and teasing ways. The Excerpt for that book looked pretty good too (Rocky Ground, Crimson Point Series).
I enjoyed the fact that there was a good Epilogue included. I also just have to say that I enjoyed the authors writing style. I will definitely be looking out for other books by this author in the future.
One other thing I wanted to mention may sound a little shallow but I didn't really care for the choice of the eBook cover. The muscles definitely fit with the described body of Jase but the rest just didn't seem to fit that well. This guy looks a lot older than I thought Jase was supposed to me and to be honest I didn't think he was all that great looking. Ouch, sorry about that but that's one person's opinion I guess. Still, I don't regret for one minute reading this book.

Molly and Jase have been friends for years. Jase and Carter, Molly’s husband, were best friends and team members in the military. But a career ending injury for Carter changed everything. Things changed again when Carter was killed in a car accident. Molly is not sure how she’s going to make it and Jase is determined to be there to help her through whatever she needs. Neither expected the danger that came from a part of Carter’s life that no one knew anything about.

Okay, first off, this book was bloody adorable!!! Who says a book with a hot shirtless man on the front has to be a horrible, trashy read with poor grammar and no plot? This book is everything that that last book I read wasn't. It was a story with a plot and with purpose, not just a thinly veiled sex infested. It has substance. It's about discovering and building a relationship that will stand the tests of time. This book was what my soul needed. Just a sweet story of two people finding their way to happiness together after over coming self imposed hurdles and an unknown threat. After all, a little suspense and an action scene or two never hurt anyone, right?

The majority of the book is just this sweet dual perspective from two people who are on different levels of attraction for each other in the beginning, but slowly working their way to a mutual level of attraction and absolutely adorable love. Adorable, I say!!! The author cleverly throws in a few other perspectives from people close to the pair to give a bit more of a complete picture (and I daresay, a hook for the next book?).

Jase is this wonderful man who desperately wants his shot with the woman he has secretly loved for years. It's not the way she looks (which he loves), it's her personality that has drawn him in. The way she can light up a room with her smile. The way she laughs. The gleam she gets in her eye when she's gearing up to verbally take someone on. He loves her for her and despite his best efforts, his need to let her know how he feels it leaking out and making her shy away.

Molly is this wonderful woman who takes all the hurdles life is throwing at her with such grace. With her ex gone and his past actions coming back to bite her in the ass, she takes it all in stride, on top of everything else. She starts off liking Jase as a good friend. But she notices how her reactions change to his presence. But she's clear with herself that it will never change their relationship because she couldn't stand another heart break. When he confesses he feels the same, she panics and everything is thrown out of balance for the two of them.

Sigh...so sweet.

The only thing that got me was when there is finally some 'action' between the two of them I noticed a repeat in the phrasing about nipples within two-three paragraphs of each other and I mentally fell out of the story for a moment thinking "How f**king tight can one woman's nipples get???" It kinda took away from the story. I also didn't require the epilogue. While it was a bit funny, I would have liked it if it had ended with "even the bullet part" from the end of the last chapter.

In Conclusion

Shattered Vows it a true romance novel. It's a sweet story of two people stumbling through to meeting each other on an emotional level with some suspenseful tones throughout that didn't take away, but rather added to the awesomeness of the book.

I am totally recommending this to my girl friends!

Molly and Jase find a way to heal from the past and a pathway together with a future in this Crimson Point book 3. A page turning story with good characters and story line.

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

This was definitely a new twist to a romance. A pregnant widow and her deceased ex-husband’s best friend. Their relationship is not without its road blocks. Molly certainly plays the hot and cold widow to a T.
It’s an interesting dance. 5 stars!!
