Janna MacGregor's "Rogue Most Wanted" from The Cavensham Heiresses series was a decent historical romance with some quirks that landed it at a three-star rating for me. Overall, the elements offered a promising premise, but at times, the execution felt a bit too contrived. The cinnamon roll hero, Lord William Cavensham, added a sweet touch to the story, and the friends-first dynamic between him and Lady Theodora Worth was charming. However, the plot occasionally felt predictable, and the chemistry between the characters, though enjoyable, didn't fully resonate with me. While it didn't quite reach the heights of a five-star read, "Rogue Most Wanted" still provides a light and entertaining escape into the world of historical romance.

This was sweet. Maybe too sweet? There was a lot of love in the book. Parents, aunts, siblings, lovers…..everyone is loved. Which is great, but sometimes it was a little too much. However, I loved the characters. They were all so nice to each other and likable. Of course, my favorites were Stella and Edith. Apparently I love the elderly characters that provide the comic relief. There was just a smidge of an obstacle, but was quickly resolved. This was a good story to provide some sweetness into my life.

A strangers to lovers, friends to lovers, slow burn, virgin romance that is another wonderful addition to a great series.

Lady Theodora Worth will be forced to fight for her family land and prove her inheritance, there's just one problem ... she can't find the papers to prove the claim.

Lord WIlliam Cavensham refuses to marry after being embarrased and hurt years ago. Older, wiser and unwilling to bend his jilted heart hasn't changed it's course. When his Aunt requests his help with a situation, will he re-evaluate those rules he imposed on himself all those years ago?

Both Theodora and William are in need of a spouse, will they seek solace in each other to protect their future or will they let the gossip papers destroy their future?

A spicy read that is perfect with a cuppa, a warm blanket, and a cozy chair.

"Rogue Most Wanted" was a book that sounded better than it was. While I find the writing to be okay and the premise to be interesting, I found the characters were rather lacking and I did not enjoy them.

I really enjoyed this, I mean I love a good romance book, and regency ones are always beautiful. This was fantastically written, I loved all the characters ( well aside from the baddie but even he was brilliantly written) and I just wanted to give Will and Thea hugs! Parts of it made me actually cry( the letter she wrote him when she made that difficult decision being one) and I definitely need to find more out about the Cavenshams! Janna Macgregor is now one of my favorite romance authors.

Lady Theodora (Thea) Worth recently lost her grandfather after a 7 year long illness. She ran two estates and kept his health a secret until his death. Now the heir to the entailed estates is saying that the Scottish title also belongs to him. Thea is saying that it passes down through the line (not the male line). However, without the charter from the King, she has a difficult task to prove her claim to the lands she was raised on and cared for over the last 7 years.

Enter Lady Stella Payne, the nosy neighbor. She has a nephew, who happens to be single and has sworn off love. When Stella sets them up, they both agree they don't want marriage but friendship sounds nice.

Friendship blossoms into something beautiful though, and these two have a difficult task of not only proving Thea's claim but also not falling in love.

This is a slow-burn romance with a feisty heroine who speaks her mind (yes!) and a hero whose protective instincts are swoon worthy. Enjoy the friendly banter as their friendship grows and the steamy scenes that are later on in the book. (The banter is really good, and it's what gives this book a 5 star review.)

Very well written book that is worth reading. This is a standalone book and part of a series.

I hate that there are too many books, and I am only a single person with a single pair of eyes. This looked so cute and I have high hopes of coming back to it someday.

A marriage of convenience? Yes, please! I love regency romances where the main characters are either friends or even enemies and need to create a marriage of convenience that eventually will lead to love. This is one of my absolute favorite tropes! Thea and William are such a lovely example of friends to lovers and the story of Thea's struggle to claim and hold on to her grandfather's earldom is enthralling. This was my first book by this author and I will definitely have to look into the others!

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Thea and William conspire together to save her land. She was determined to stop her cousin from taking everything that was rightfully hers. William provided exact what she needed and provided the support that had long been missing from her life. Such a great series that defines heroines that are strong and determined to make a difference.

This is my first book by the author.
Lady Theodora Worth is the heir to a Scottish title which is questioned and she has to prove that she is the rightful heir. She has not set foot in London, has not moved in society. She has to marry in order to strengthen her claim in the eyes of the male lawmakers. Her neighbour Stella suggests she marry her nephew Lord William Cavensham. It was a slow book on how both Theo and William try to sort out their issues and find love.

Sigh...I tried, I really, really tried - but this book was just not for me. So rather than dissect the plot, I will be brief and just give my general overview of the book.

The writing is fine, the "idea" of the story is fine and even unique, but William is not a rogue, not even close and Thea just broke my heart, repeatedly. Then there are the "The Midnight Cryer" epigraphs at the beginning of the chapters - they are just malicious - I guess that is the point, but they seemed disproportionally so. I liked William and Thea, but honestly, it was just too much drama for drama's sake for my personal taste.

I enjoyed reading Janna MacGregor's book, Rogue Most Wanted. I cared for the two protagonists and enjoyed their coversations. They had interfering relatives and the heiress of course had a problem that she needed help with to keep her land. I would recommend this book

One of the best regency romances yet. It was believable and transported me back in time. I fell for Will and Thea in a special way. I couldn’t put the book down because I was so enthralled I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. Book provided by NetGalley.

Guest Review by Joann Maggio

I must preface this review with how much I love the writings of this author. I have read all her books and am never disappointed. Her characters become so real you find yourself talking to them.
Theodora Worth has her agenda she needs to marry quickly her next door neighbor intends to aid her. Aunt Stella, her neighbor, has her own agenda she wants her to marry her nephew Will.
This develops into a classic romance that only Ms MacGregor could intertwine. With humor and restraint I found this a wonderful read.

Rogue Most Wanted’s strongest point was Thea and Will’s immediate friendship and then development into romance. Their relationship was sweet and emotional and strong. It made it worth it to keep reading even when the pacing dragged (it felt a bit too long) or when plot elements didn’t mesh particularly well together (suspicion over her grandfather’s death, the missing charter, Ferr-Colby as a simultaneously overdramatic yet boring villain?). Ultimately, an enjoyable relationship in the midst of a somewhat lacking plot.

I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A Rogue Most Wanted is a great romance for those who enjoy a happily-ever-after. In this book, the hero is reluctant yet does his duty with a bit of a nudge and ultimately falls for the hero, whom needs a little help. I did enjoy this book but it isn't a favorite from Janna.

A new historical romance centered around two strangers-turn-friends turn-fake-lovers to avoid the peril of losing one's home. In this fifth installment of The Cavensham Heiress, Thea and William weaved their way to each other's hearts through mutual friendship and intimate bonding. It is a sweet, heart-warming romantic journey for any fans of historical romance out there. William Cavensham possessed the quality of a hero worth swooning over. Thea equally matched his wit and caring nature making these two the most suited couple. I loved every second I spend on this novel and you will to!

Thanks to St Martins Press and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Great story and characters in this one. I always devour this author's novels and this one was no exception. Thea is a lovely heroine - spirited but not stubborn in an annoying way. Will was an interesting one - at times I just wasn't sure I liked him as he came across a bit too one-dimensional. Still lots of fun to read.

This Captured My Heart! I loved everything about this story, the well developed, charming characters. I loved the storyline and I loved the exquisite writing that was so descriptive that it swept me away to a time long ago.

I became so wrapped up in their journey, as well as these characters, and their story captured my heart. Their immediate attraction as well as their support for one another, constant caring, thoughts and actions as they struggle through the ups and downs were so emotional at times. And my tears fell rapidly.

But on a lighter note, I loved Lady Stella and Lady Edith and their shenanigans and manipulations that they instigated to bring these two together. As well as seeing the Cavensham family members again and feeling the love they have found and how readily they supported and brought Lady Theo into their circle.

Such a heartwarming and exquisite read. Loved every minute of this story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
