I love the whole Cavensham Heiresses series, so I was excited to read the latest installment, featuring endearing brother Will from the previous books. This book was decent, but not my favorite in the series. Thea inherited an earldom from her beloved grandfather, making her a countess, but a distant relative decides to challenge the inheritance in court. When the hearing committee makes it clear that they'd look more favorably at her case if she were married or engaged, she turns to her neighbor--and her neighbor's nephew, Will, who can't resist helping a damsel in distress.

In the beginning, I absolutely loved the book. This novel is about a Scottish Lady, Lady Theodora Worth, or short Thea. She took care of her grandfather for the last seven years on their estate Ladykyrk in Northumberland, living completely isolated. Now her grandfather is dead and his male heir, the heir of the English title, challenges her - he wants her title and her estate, a Scottish title that can also be inherited by a female. She knows that she will have to go to London to speak her case but there are some problems on her way - she wasn't raised. She isn't able to pour tea correctly or she doesn't know a single thing about comportment.
In her fear, to lose he, she asks her neighbor for help - an elderly lady, a little eccentric. Her family lawyer tells her that she should get married or at least betrothed to have a better case in London.
On the other side, there is the 2nd son of an influential duke - Lord William Cavensham. Years ago his heart was broken, shattered. Since this day he does not believe in love anymore nor is he interested in marriage. His aunt sends an emergency request to him so within 5 days he travels without a real stop from London to Northumberland, to help his beloved aunt. But what he finds there is no emergency - she wants him to marry Thea to save her. He is not interested in it at all.
Well, that's the start of the story. The issue with Thea and Will is that they both do not want to get married but agree to become friends, best friends. He is Thea's first and only friend. Because they cannot find the charter (an official declaration that the Scottish title can be transferred to a female) in Ladykyrk they have to travel to London. The Canvensham family is influential in London and they want to help Thea.
In the beginning - the first 50% of the book - it's mostly about the fact that they do not want to realize that they are meant for each other, that there is more than friendship. All the family members see what Will and Thea do not see. I really enjoyed those 50% but then it became a rigmarole. It's a lengthy seesaw.
My main problem with the book is that there are no obvious paragraphs with blank lines when the perspective changes. Many episodes are partly explained from both perspectives which is boring and not necessary. I do not like to read things twice at all.
The other thing is that she does not care to lose her virginity to Will but agrees to marry somebody else later one without even thinking that she could be carrying Will's child or that her future husband may care about her lack of maidenhood.

I liked this book! And I wasn't expecting it to be so likeable. Thea and Will are hardheaded that you want to knock their heads together. Honestly! Not a time to be stubborn. Thea is sweet and passionate and clearly an intelligent and capable woman, a good match for Will
This is apparently the 5th book but not knowing the first 4 books didn't detract from this one. It just made me curious about the other 4 couples.
And sometimes I feel like it's Lady Edit and Stella who are behind the Cryer. Huh.
This was a fun read that has reignited my interest in regency stories again.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for a copy of this book.

Rogue Most Wanted is the fifth book in the Cavensham Series. I truly enjoyed reading it! This is Lord William Cavensham's story. He is the brother/cousin of the previous Cavenshams. His leading lady is Lady Theodora Worth, Thea. They meet through Will's aunt who decides to play matchmaker between them. I thought it was cute that they both felt relieved when each stated that they didn't want to marry each other. It is then they establish a friendship, because Will decides to assist Thea in society and help her with her title, that sparks begin to fly. Because of their past experience or lack of that they don't know what to do with each other, so they begin to tread lightly in enjoying their physical attraction. The author did a very good job of making Thea's lack of social skills very believable. We see her stumble along the way and it takes a while for her to build up her confidence. It is Will's persistence to help her that made him a great hero.
Having read the previous books I enjoyed seeing the couples from those books. Will was a little overwhelmed with all the mushiness between them, but it is what made him realized what he was missing out on. At the same time Thea felt loved and accepted for once.
I highly recommend this series! Can't wait for the next one!

“Everything in my life had been dulled to gray until I met you…You make my life bright again.”
Jilted at a young age, Lord William Cavensham was left with a broken heart that has hardened over time. Will fell in love once, and vows to never give his heart to another. So when his beloved Aunt Stella sends word that she is in need of his help, he’s speechless that her request is for him to marry their neighbor or else be disinherited.
Theodora Worth has known nothing but life at Ladykyrk estate. Raised by her grandfather, she has grown up caring for the tenants of Ladykyrk as if they are her family. After her grandfather passes, an extended family member swoops in claiming rights to Ladykyrk and all its titles and lands. Theodora runs to her trusted friend, Stella, seeking her wisdom, and is shocked when her solution to keep Ladykyrk is to wed her to her favorite nephew, Lord William Cavensham.
So what happens when two strangers who have no wish to wed but are left with little choice? Well, be careful what you wish for…you may just get it…in the most delightful way!
Dear Reader, I loved this friends to lovers story! I honestly do not think the blurb nor the title give the book justice. Will is not what I would consider a rogue…he had his heart broken as a youth, and is afraid to be hurt again. Theo is a young woman looking for friendship and family…and she finds both with her beloved Will. Together they form a lasting friendship that grows into an everlasting love.
Highly recommend Rogue Most Wanted by Janna MacGregor! Although this is the 5th installment to The Cavensham Heiresses series, it may be read standalone. I can’t wait for the next book and Devon’s story!

The characters in this book were great. Thea was realistic in both her pain and her awkwardness and Will served as a great foil to that. The villains were both delightfully evil although I would have liked to see a little bit more of one of them - I have a feeling he might show up as a reformed male main character in a future book though.

Lord William Cavensham’s cousin Claire reminds him to be careful what he wishes for. He learns that lesson well as he falls in love with Lady Theodora Worth, also know as Lady Eanruig. Ms. MacGregor shares with us the difficult situation Thea found herself in – caring for her aged grandfather as he lost his memory and his care for himself. Thea did everything she could to protect his dignity keeping only a few close servants as she did so. She, also, took complete care of her grandfather’s holdings and vast estates.
Now, Thea finds herself in a fight for her title and lands, her birth right through her grandfather, only a small part of his legacy. How does William fit into this situation? Her sweet neighbors, elderly Stella and Edith plan for their nephew to marry her and help her keep her estate.
William is one of the stunning Cavensham’s who have entertained us previously. All of the Cavensham’s are in love matches, leading the way is their parents, the Duke and Duchess of Langham teaching them about love, too. Yet, William has not been so lucky. He thought he was to marry a distant cousin, but she jilted him causing him to close off his heart. Thus, when his sweet, elderly great-aunts plan his marriage to Theo, he is not about to marry just to help a stranger keep her estate. Then, he meets her and slowly falls head over heals.
Although this charming romance is about Theo and William, her battle for her lands, his reintroduction to his heart, her loyalty to her people, his desire to remain unwed, you see that so much of it is wrapped around Theo’s desire to continue protecting others. First and foremost, her grandfather and his memory. Involved, is her guilt over her feelings once he did pass on. Then, Theo believes she must keep her promise to protect the tenants of her lands from her unscrupulous cousin. He is the one she is battling for her rights.
Ms. MacGregor is a stunning writer who crafts a touching story of the love of a granddaughter for her grandfather while trying to protect others. Thea and William have a touching relationship that will touch your heart as you see them reach their HEA.

What I appreciated about this historical romance is the amount of time our main characters spent getting to know one another which then led to the falling in love. Nothing instantaneous here, which makes their relationship all the more believable to me. This is a story of two good people trying to do their best for others, even to their own detriment. Fortunately, this does not cause them to be martyrs - their intentions are much too good for such negative feelings. I do feel like more time could have been spent on the “big bad villain” and the courtroom storyline, and this causes the second half of the book to be weaker than the first. But it’s all wrapped up tidily with a pretty bow, and I love an HEA. 3.5 stars if I could, rounded up to 4.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed the previous one. This one is about Lady Theodora Worth who was raised by her grandfather when her parents died, in and a small rural area of Scotland. He was of noble status and when he passed away by Scottish law the title her uncle held was to be passed to her yes a (women) not the men. While still grieving her distant cousin is challenging her position as the Countess of the Scottish estate and lands. She is desperate and seeks the only person whom she can trust for help. Lady Stella Payne who agrees to help get hear ready to be introduced into society since she never was. She is also a powerful woman who is related to political people and needs her help to stand a chance fighting her distant cousin for the rights of the title/land at a hearing in London. She’s also a matchmaker offering up her favorite Nephew Lord William Cavensham as the perfect husband to make her claim much easier if she is engaged if not already married. This leads to a quirky meeting and craziness all around when she is invited to stay with his family in London until the hearing. They also will pretend to be engaged while her trusted staff try to locate the missing documents to prove she is countess and owner not her cousin. The book did drag a bit here and there but I was glad I stuck through it . I enjoyed the power of the strong willed Thea fighting for what rightfully belong to her. I was given an ARC from St Martian Press via netgalley. These options expressed are solely my own.

Theodora is in a bind and scrambles in thought as to how to extricate herself from the dismal calamity before her. She must come to terms with her choices or forfeit all. How in heavens name should she go about this, finding a husband of all things when she had no idea of manoeuvering in society. Imagine such an innocent let loose in the ballroom, now all the rats and perverted souls have come to nibble.

Book Title: Rogue Most Wanted

Overall rating: 3.5/5 Regency Romance with a bit of scandal and courtroom drama.
Heroine (Lady Theodora Worth): 4/5 Thea has taken care of the estates and her grandfather for seven long years, missing out on her Season in London. Her title is being challenged she will need the help of some friends to keep it.
Hero (Lord William Cavensham): 3.5/5 Will does not believe in love after his heart is broken at 19. Now at 29 the second son of the Cavensham family finds himself trying to deny himself of a love match.
Plot: 3/5 Thea’s title is being challenged by a distant cousin and she is willing to try anything to keep her home and tenants safe. Including marrying but not Will. He is the serious great nephew of her neighbor and both decide quickly they will not suit but he agrees to help her. Together they wil try to save Thea’s title but can they keep their hands off each other along the way?
Personal Review: Thea is a far better person than most people; she sacrifices a huge part of her life to care for her grandfather with dementia. His own heir doesn’t even bother to check in on him. She truly cares for her tenants and employees and was even willing to sacrifice her own happiness to protect them. She's a stand up character with a moral backbone that could only rival Ned Stark’s.
The first half of the book was definitely my favorite. Thea getting to know Will and truly become friends was cute. Thea learning what it means to be apart of Society was fun as she grew up mostly isolated from the world.
I wish there was a bit more banter between Will and Thea in lou of the back and forth admiration for the other.
If the court case was going to be the frame story, there should have been more time in court. Ferr-Colby was a bit too much of an idle threat, he didn’t really appear enough in the story to produce real tension. This made him feel like a throw away character rather than the main antagonist.

Only made it through 35% of this book in 4 days. I felt no connection to the characters and no chemistry in the couple. I am usually able to read a book in two days. This book just wasn’t interesting and the couple was annoying. The writing seems to try to hard to be flowery. I apparently liked the writer’s work in the past and gave her good reviews. This was just boring.

Review: Rogue Most Wanted is a sweet historical romance that packs a lot of steam. The book has become one of my favorite 2019 reads because the characters were relatable and they made me sympathetic to their struggles. It’s so refreshing reading a story where the main love interest doesn’t treat the heroine like garbage. Will is loving, kind, and generous despite the hurt he’s experienced in his past. I love that he supported Thea from beginning to end. With a title like Rogue Most Wanted, I thought we would be dealing with an immature ladies man. I was so wrong! Instead I was blown away by how charming and caring Will’s character was.
To my surprise, Will was one of the best historical romance characters I’ve read. As for Thea, I love that she wanted to be independent and save her title and land. In the beginning, I found her a little frustrating and cold toward Will but that changed quickly. I loved the character growth Thea went through and the author did a great job showing it throughout each chapter.
I highly recommend grabbing a copy of Rogue Most Wanted. The author does a wonderful job creating an original storyline that will leave readers scrambling for more from Ms. MacGregor. I look forward to reading more from this author.

The opening chapter was a fun and easy introduction to the Cavensham family. Will Cavensham, the second son of a Duke, knows that he has found The One. All the men in his family just know when their soulmate is found, but poor Will finds out the hard way that young love/infatuation isn't the same thing as the real deal. After the heartbreak of rejection, he vows that love just isn't for him.
Until a nosy aunt decides otherwise.
Lady Theodora Worth was an admirable woman. I loved her outlook on life and her she refused to be cowed by her horrible relatives looking to strip her of her title and lands. It still felt a little weird to me that as a grand daughter of a Duke, she had little to no education in etiquette, but it wan't that big of a deal.
The first half of the book was great. The second.... not so much. It's like the author didn't quite know what to do with the characters once she got them established.
Enjoyable characters hampered by inconsistent pacing and a strangely untethered second act.

I absolutely loved this book. I really liked Will. This story is about Lord William Cavensham’s heart was broken years ago by a one he loved, and since that day he vowed to never love again. But his Great Aunt Stella is determined he’ll marry. Thea does not want to marry the first man she meets and Will does not want to marry. So they have a pretend engagement. I really enjoyed the plot of this book.

Lady Theodora Worth is still grieving the loss of her grandfather when the family solicitor informs her that her estate may be in jeopardy. Her grandfather's male heir is challenging her right to inherit the Earldom that could be inherited through the female line. He is not happy with only inheriting the Dukedom. Thea had taken care of her grandfather for seven years on her own as he became more senile and he hid the charter that conferred the estate on Thea. She seeks out her eccentric neighbour who agrees that Thea must marry to stop the gossip rampant in London. Thea has lived in isolation for years and has no idea how to conduct herself in society or how to find a groom. When Thea meets her neighbour's nephew sparks fly, but she doesn't wish to marry without love.
Lord William Cavensham had his heart broken years ago; he firmly believes the family fable that a Cavesham knows their true love at first sight. He has never forgotten how it felt to have his heart broken, and he has contented himself with assisting his family with the running of their estates. When his aunt summons him for immediate help, he is not expecting her to announce he is to marry. He sets out to advice his aunt's neighbour of his intention not to wed when the beguiling woman declares she won't marry him. He finds himself drawn To Thea and wanting to help her, but he can't stop fantasising about having more than friendship.
This is the fifth book in Ms MacGregor's Cavensham Heiresses' series. I have read some of the previous books in this series, but each one can be read as a standalone. This series has been a mixed bag for me, some was an okay read, and I didn't like another. this book was simply okay. I feel the author overly complicated matters. As a point of clarification to the author, Northumberland is in England, not Scotland. The main basis for the struggle in this book is the heroine has inherited a Scottish title along with an estate, but her grandfather's male heir received the English title. Her estate is in Northumberland which is the topmost point of England bordering Scotland, English rules apply, so the entire plot is inaccurate. Even if the dukedom was Scotland the estate in dispute is not. This may seem like nitpicking, but it is a significant part of the book, I like accuracy.
Aside from the above, I liked the first fifty per cent of the book, but the plot began to drag after this with a lot of unnecessary filler. I like the characters they were both likeable people who were clearly meant to be together, but I need a story to hold my interest.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review all thoughts an opinions are my own.

I cannot get enough of Janna MacGregor's books! I absolutely loved Thea and William's story. This book has everything you are looking for in a good romance. One moment you are so happy for them and by three quarters of the way through the book there were tears streaming down my face. This is exactly the kind of romance book I am always on the lookout for.

A charming romance with just the perfect amount of heat. I loved this book, the characters drew me in and though I might have wished for one resident jilter, Avalon, to have received more of a comeuppance than the forgiveness she received, the novel rounded out nicely. I also felt that the evil duke in question could have been a bit more abhorrent and even more forceful in his treatment of Thea, but he was decent enough in the role of antagonist, the f not necessarily cringe worthy. All in all it was a good read and I look forward to reading more from Ms. MacGregor.

I was fortunate and received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy at no charge from the author. Janna MacGregor has outdone herself in this book. The heroine, Thea, is vulnerable, yet strong and composed. The hero, Will Cavesham, is charming, dashing and honorable, yet still a little unsure about expressing his emotions. A beautiful romantic tender love story with vividly described scenes, characters pulling you in to the drama, making you feel a part of the surroundings and going-ons. Even though this book is part of a series, it can be read without having read the previous books. Janna Macgregor gets better and better with each book . A must read!

You know that moment in a book when you know you’re hooked on the story? Yeah, well here I was waiting for that moment…and waiting….and waiting. I’ll be honest, the first 40 % of the book really dragged. I didn’t feel the chemistry between characters, to me they looked more like friends than lovers. I was reading the first half of the book for ages. Every time I thought I read like ten percent more, I looked at the bottom of the page and was a little disappointed that I only read one percent. I was even thinking about quitting the book.
But I didn’t. Because this was my first Janna MacGregor’s book and I was determined to finish it.
But oh boy, was I tempted to quit it.
I really expected more from this book. I can’t even remember half of the book.
Also, the newspaper’s sections were sometimes quite annoying and unnecessary.
I don’t consider myself an expert in history but I have read a lot of historical romances so reading about them being together in a room (even though they were friends) unchaperoned or without the door open, left me quite itchy. Weren’t things like this considered as a step closer to the altar? (I’m seriously asking)
It’s an ARC so I won’t go into details that there were grammatical errors because I’m sure the book will be edited before publishing.
I’m just not happy with this book. At the end of it, if asking me about my opinion I can say just ”meh”. It took me two weeks to read it. I just wish the book hooked me from the beginning and that it wasn’t so slow.
3 ”meh” stars.
