Nature into Art follows the well-documented history of the Gardens at Wave Hill in the Bronx. Thomas Christopher sets this book apart from other gardening books by using Wave Hill as the one ultimate example of what a garden can be. It is contrived and natural, soft and harsh, planned and accidental. He explains the way that Wave Hill is set apart from other gardens because they made the decision to break gardening's conventional beauty rules, but in every photo, you can see how stunningly beautiful the outcome was. This is a great book for anyone looking to learn more about Wave Hill, some fundamental ideas about gardening, or just to gain inspiration!

I had no idea that a unique garden like this existed in New York! This is a book well worth owning just for the photographs alone which are stunning. A must-read book for anyone who loves gardens and enjoys reading the history of various gardens, just because the histories are fascinating.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wave Hill is a hidden gem in New York, and I loved how beautifully this book captured it. In addition to the stunning photos and descriptions, the book includes how-to tips like a recipe for potting mix and how to build an alpine trough for gardeners feeling inspired by this book.

I don’t know what drew me to this book. I had never heard of WaveHill before, but after reading this book, I definitely would love to see it next time I am in New York if I am in that area. This is such a great combination of pictures and gardening design.

This is a great book for a gardener or a landscaper. It could be used in a horticulture class. Older students might enjoy this and it could be used as a reference book.

Nature into Art by Thomas Christopher is a lovely book about a public garden in the Bronx. The book describes the layout and original plans for the garden and includes full color, beautiful photos.

The book is more of a coffee table book than an instructional book. I"m not sure which it was supposed to be. The sections on creating alpine boxes and other instructional sections were very helpful. The pictures are BEAUTIFUL and inspiring. The pictures represent gardens I would like to have. The climates didn't necessarily meet my regional requirements but I would love to try these..
