Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

So what intrigued me about this book was the fact the it was about a female serial killer which is actually kind of rare in real life so when I see something like that in a book I want to read more about it. Just fair warning there are graphic scenes in the beginning so be prepared for some gruesome murder scenes.

Tim is a mortician, a quiet mild mannered man.His wife Susannah is a chef and... also a serial killer. After she is caught and then flees her captor, Tim is worried that she will come after him so he flees as well. Be prepared for more murders, twists and turns, and weirdly funny characters.

Thank you Netgalley for the copy to review.

Unfortunately I did not realise this was a sequel when originally requesting (my mistake completely, I was just taken in by the description).

I didn't finish the book due to this however from what I did read, I enjoyed the authors writing style and I loved the concept for the plot. When reading other reviews, everyone seemed to love this book so I am hoping to get my hands on the prequel and then get to this.

I've based my star rating on other people's reviews by gauging what I enjoy in books and what they've discussed too

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read and review this title. I will review this title at a different date.

There's nothing worse than finishing a book only to find out that there's a prequel you didn't read first! That being said I felt as though I was thrown into an already-existing plot that I knew nothing about! It was tough to get on board after that... Watching things happen at a distance without clearly knowing the characters or background story. I believe I would have given a higher rating had I read the prequel first. Completely my fault there, but always grateful for the opportunity to be approved for my requests on netgalley!

‘Til death do us part…

Obsession can be a dangerous thing.

Susannah dabbles in darkness, finding sadistic solace in the death of those who deserve it. But now she wants something more. Or, more to the point…someone. She’s on a manhunt. She will possess him, one way or another, whether in life, or death. She hasn’t made up her mind yet.
He’s the only one who ever accepted her. Who even maybe loved her, in his own strange way. And then, he left her, which could turn out to be a deadly mistake. Her husband Tim, a mild-mannered mortician, has packed his bags and fled, a fugitive from his homicidal wife. She wants him, and what Susannah wants, she gets. Will Tim continue to elude his murderous mate? If he doesn’t, will he survive her peculiar form of love? This journey through the mind of a stone-cold killer will leave you on the edge of your seat. Close the doors, lock the windows, and get ready for a bloodcurdling ride.

My Review:

I had previously read a review that stated it should not be read at night. Well, I can tell you I should have listened. This thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. It is scary and the type of book you cannot put down.

I was provided this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion. And, I can tell you I highly recommend this book. But beware, you should read during the day when there is enough light that you will not be easily frightened.

This was a quick read... i dont think there was that many pages..

I felt that this story is in-between a bigger story. The story just started what felt like in the middle of a conversation and finished a little bit later in the conversation. There was no beginning and no end, no reason or explanation.

I really liked the version of a female serial killer but there was no character development. A tad disappointed in that regard.

When I read the synopsis and learned from another review there was a previous book- I decided to read it first. In “ The Quiet One” we are introtduced to Tim Eckels and his wife Susannah. They met in a cadaver study course which he was taking for his future mortuary business and she as part of culinary classes. What Tim doesn’t know is his wife is a serial killer.
At the end of the previous book, Susannah is on the run and Tim had left town looking to build a new life.
This picks up the story with Susannah headed towards Chicago and Tim ending up in Key West.
Neither can stop thinking of the other though for different reasons. Tim is in fear of the day she finds him and Susannah isn’t sure of what she wants- to kill him or rebuild their lives together.
I read both books in one day- it’s a fast, engaging story and you can’t wait to see what happens. This one is not as filled with graphic violence but the author does a great job keeping the fascination with how easily provoked Susannah is and how little it takes to push her towards murder.
I really enjoyed both of these books and thank you to @netgalley and S Prescott publishing fur an author I would not otherwise have found as she is most described as an author of cozy mystery.

I liked this one very much! It was so creepy and fun.

The writing was great, switching from Susannah to Tim and what’s happened from each of their perspectives. They both had very distinctive voices and were such interesting and unusual characters.

Was this entirely realistic? Probably not, unless Susannah is one extremely lucky person but it kept me so enthralled I didn’t even care! She was so smart, resourceful and evil (though maybe not entirely!). Tim is just an odd duck, weird and off putting (but also not entirely). It’s alluded to that both characters had difficult childhoods but not much is given about that. There is a prequel out, or coming out, that I’m sure will shed some light on that.

This ends on a cliff hanger with a huge reveal (I saw that one coming quite a while before). Normally that would aggravate me but I liked it so much I plan to continue so I’m ok. Looking forward to seeing where this one goes!!

I definitely recommend this and plan to read more by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and S. Prescott Thrillers for a copy in exchange for a review.

My thanks to the Author and Netgalley.
I didn't know there was a prequel before this book. I should probably find it and read it. Still, a female serial killer? A clueless husband. "Was he though?" Not sure I'm convinced. I actually liked this book, and I'm hoping for a continuation. It didn't seem to have a definitive ending. I hate that! But, I seldom get to read about female serial killers, and I like it!

I thought that this book was very dark and very descriptive. The killer was extremely well written, yet I did not really understand the husband much. He seemed so different from her that it was kind of unbelievable. When she tracks him to his new location, there is a lot of creativity and deviousness in the way that she shows him that she is there. I think this could really be part of a series and didn't really have a true ending. I would definitely enjoy reading more from this author. Thanks for the ARC, Net Galley.

A well written psychological thriller! I loved that the main character was a woman serial-killer. I have always had a mild "obsession" (if you will) with cults and serial killers. So this story was right up my alley. I couldn't put it down and will definitely be recommending this to everyone!

Female serial killer? Got me at that sentence. After reading a chapters or so, I realized I should have read the pre ious novel as this is sort of a sequel. So, quick change, read the first book and started The Killing Girl again. Really pleased I did it that way so that I had the backstory and enjoyed this novel so much more. Gory and great,!

I didn't read the prequel to this one and perhaps I would have enjoyed this book a bit more if I had. I didn't feel like there was much of a plot to this book and the characters didn't seem to grab my attention. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was an enjoyable read but I had one problem which was that I did not like either of the main characters.
The book did end in away you can expect a sequel but because I'm not invested in the characters I won't bother reading it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of The Killing Girl.

This was a great book! Tension began building on page one. I am kind of squeamish, so a couple of the scenes were almost too much for me, but they seemed perfectly in character for a serial killer...yet I knew this going-in. This novel was an original take on what it may be like inside the mind of a psychopath. With the comforting knowledge that this was a COMPLETELY FICTIONAL tale, it was cool that the villain was such a chameleon, blending in to almost any environment undetected. I found the idea of a strong-minded female who truly feared nothing quite refreshing--even though she certainly had her flaws. (Obviously.) I will definitely read from this author again. I will check out the prequel (and assume there will be a third installment).

Thank you to NetGalley and Summer Prescott for the ARC!

If you are a fan of Chelea Cain, the female serial killer series you will love this novel! Frankly, I wasn't quite prepared for the first scene to be as graphic as it was, so just be prepared for some gruesome murders. Susanna has been captured but of course she is as smart as she is strong so killing her captor is easy, allowing her to flee for parts unknown. Mild mannered mortician husband, Tim is worried that she'll come after him so he too flees in search of anonymity. Lots of colorful quirky characters. more murders, and surprises that may take your breath away!

My Thoughts
I had never read any of Summer Prescott's books and all I could ask myself was how had I missed hearing about this author. The book opens in the thick of things with Susannah on the run (for her freedom and her life), but in the midst of figuring out what to do next, she's also determined to find her husband Tim. Chapters alternate between what Tim is doing( to avoid being found by his serial killing wife) and what Susannah is doing(to avoid being caught and to find Tim), and I have to say both characters are like a mesmerizing trainwreck that I just couldn't look away from. I don't want to give anything away but I was furiously flipping pages to find out more about Susannah and Tim and I actually didn't want Susannah to get caught (strange but true.)
Some information about the author from GoodReads: Summer Prescott is well-known in the Cozy Mystery realm, having written and published several Best-Sellers in the genre. An avid reader of Thrillers, Horror and Suspense, the author has decided to follow her passion with the debut of her Thriller, The Quiet Type, which launched in the top 50 of the Serial Killer category on Amazon. The novel has received high praise in its reviews, and Summer is considering a possible trilogy or series to continue the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Killing Girl and was intrigued to discover that there is a prior book. I am looking forward to reading it but felt this worked fine as a standalone.4.5 well deserved stars.
I received a DRC from BookBuzz.net through NetGalley.

WOW! Scary is not quite a strong enough adjective to describe this book. After reading, I had to convince myself that I did not know ANYONE who was capable of the things in this book. It is definitely not a book to read at home after dark when you're alone. Summer Prescott did a great job of pulling me into the story and keeping me there. A remarkably scary walk through the lives of two very different people who's worlds collided with a BANG!
