Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

I've Never Met A Dead Person I Didn't Like is a heart-warming adventure story based on one woman's experience. Living in-between the physical world and the spirit realm, yet feeling a stranger in both, Sherrie Dillard crisscrossed the country in a search for answers.

Along the way she was led to help the poor and homeless on skid row, install water systems in Mayan Indian villages, live alone in a tent in the mountains and make art with juvenile offenders. It was in these diverse environments that she came face to face with saints, angels and dark spirits and learned to trust her psychic ability.

From her early secret encounters with spirits who guided and ultimately saved her life, Sherrie Dillard finally accepted that what made her different and odd, was also her greatest gift. I’ve Never Met A Dead Person I Didn’t Like, is a powerful story for anyone who listens to or doubts their own intuition and the presence of their loved ones on the other side.

A beautifully written, eminently readable book. Sherrie Dillard writes in an easy, no frills style that just draws you in and warms your heart. I found this book very difficult to put down as I felt I was travelling alongside Sherrie on her psychic (and geographic) journey.

I have never read anything else by this author before but I will now be seeking out her earlier books.

My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my copy.

I could not put this inspirational memoir down. Sherrie Dillard's story should be heard. She has suffered abuse as well as personal growth. I can't wait to start reading her previous books.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

This book is about Sherrie Dillard's voyage of discovery. From a childhood of abuse, through her discovery that she could speak with spirits, Sherrie lets us accompany her as she discovers herself and her powers.

Sherrie is a gifted story teller who doesn't shy away from the darker elements of her life. This is a powerful telling of somebody coming to terms with being different and finding acceptance and love for who they are along the way. It will not be a story for everyone, it builds upon religion and spirituality, but even as an agnostic I found it compelling and moving.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in how we discover ourselves, or to anyone who likes powerful biographies.

The author wrote a great account of the personal journey they embarked on. The honest and detailed writing made it easy for the reader to feel invested in their journey.

Sherrie Dillard did not have an easy childhood. In part this was due to traumatic abuse, but the other part was due to the fact she discovered she could communicate with spirits. On her own at seventeen and with no money to her name, she traveled across country while interacting with both the tangible world and the spirit world.

From the Northeast of the United States to Mayan Indian villages, Dillard describes her experiences of being pulled towards situations thanks to interactions with the spirits, including interactions with saints and dark powers.

Sherrie Dillard is now a renowned psychic and medium, but I’ve Never Met a Dead Person I Didn’t Like goes into the difficult path that lead her to her current position. Her voice is frank and direct, never shying away from her traumas or frustrations.

I’ve Never Met a Dead Person I Didn’t Like is available July 26, 2019 from John Hunt Publishing.

Sherrie Dillard's memoir is a quick, engrossing read. Her tone makes it easy to feel like you are having an intimate getting to know you conversation. This is a bit of a double edge sword though, like all getting to know you conversations, a lot of depth is left out. I would have liked to know more about her experiences and the people she met, both living and dead.
I read I've Never Met a Dead Person I Didn't Like in nearly one sitting and enjoyed slipping into the author's world.

I really enjoyed this new book by Sherrie Dillard. It was refreshingly honest and fun to read! I was sad when it ended since I was thoroughly enjoying Sherrie's personal stories. I also appreciated getting to know the author on a more personal basis. It provided me insight to my own personal journey and struggles we all have when we are highly intuitive.

I am in charge of our Senior School library and am looking for a diverse array of new books to furnish their shelves with and inspire our young people to read a wider and more diverse range of books as they move through the senior school. It is hard sometimes to find books that will grab the attention of young people as their time is short and we are competing against technology and online entertainments.
This was a thought-provoking and well-written read that will appeal to young readers across the board. It had a really strong voice and a compelling narrative that I think would capture their attention and draw them in. It kept me engrossed and I think that it's so important that the books that we purchase for both our young people and our staff are appealing to as broad a range of readers as possible - as well as providing them with something a little 'different' that they might not have come across in school libraries before.
This was a really enjoyable read and I will definitely be purchasing a copy for school so that our young people can enjoy it for themselves. A satisfying and well-crafted read that I keep thinking about long after closing its final page - and that definitely makes it a must-buy for me!

I absolutely loved Sherrie Dillard's memoir and I couldn't stop reading it late into the night. Dillard's journey takes you to fascinating places that you couldn't imagine. She shares so much of her life with the reader in a truly relatable way. She's not too graphic like what's found in the latest flurry of "TMI memoirs" - her approach is just right.

What a life! I'm thankful for books such as "I've Never Met A Dead Person I Didn't Like." This memoir illustrates how powerful the memoir genre can be when well written. The author's profound experiences and insights are truly worth sharing with the world.

Thanks NetGalley!

the blurb gave me high hopes for the book, and I was a tad disappointed in the outcome. It wasn't what i expected at all.

I have read all of Sherri Dillards books and each one has awakened a part of me in my mediumship. She has such a beautiful way of writing. Like all her other books, this book flows when you read it. The energy shifts as you turn the page, but the energy in the book flows through you. Its like you are walking next to her through her life as she tells her stories. This book lifted my spirits in knowing that I am not alone in my abilities in connecting with spirits and the dead. I, like Sherrie, am not scared of them. I find it comforting that they trust my intuition in seeing them and hearing their messages. Her stories in this book are beautiful. You feel her emotion as she describes her experiences and weather or not you believe in psychic mediums, you will feel her experiences and they will move you emotionally. The one thing I really appreciated about this book is it connects all her other books. I was able to recognize parts of this book that were stories mentioned in her other books and they all connected. It was amazing how this book, page by page, sewed her other books together. I can not wait till this is released so I can gift it to friends and recommend it to my clients. Thank you Sherrie, you are a beautiful soul.

It's understandable that some people will be skeptical about Sherrie's experiences, but no one was more skeptical about them than Sherrie herself. She has written a lovely, personal and touching autobiography about a person who just wants to do good, be the best she can be and, most importantly, with a really strong desire to help others. There is nothing more admirable than this quality in a person, especially one who has had such a tough upbringing, and struggles which continued into adulthood. Those who take issue with her psychic side need to understand that these abilities are unpredictable and often unwanted. You also need to understand that the messages arrive symbolically and in ways that are culturally appropriate for the receiver. See Jung's work on the collective unconscious through to the work of modern science on the primacy of consciousness. With any luck some of Sherrie's infectious positivity might rub off on the doubters and they'll have a closer look at the nature of mind, especially their own.

The Goodreads plot description actually makes the book sound much better than it is. I had high expectations and was disappointed. I received this book from a publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I think that I received the book because I had written a good review of Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest. My review of that book is here.

I did not know that this book was a religious book, otherwise I never would have read it. I was totally open to believe that the author saw ghosts, until that is, she said that she sees the spirit of "Mary", angels and saints. I was immediately turned off and became a disbeliever in her "psychic" ability. I also found her Mayan spirit "Tetchuwatchu" to also be unbelievable. I googled the name and literally nothing came up. Is it even possible that google doesn't know something? The author claims that the name means "teach you watch you", but I mean come on. Are we really supposed to believe that the ancient Mayans had names that sound like the English meaning of their Mayan name? "Techtu" in Mayan means "teach you" in English? Highly doubtful.

Do I believe that the author has stronger intuition and instincts than most people? Sure, it's possible. Who doesn't get bad feelings sometimes when danger is present. I could even believe that the author believes she sees these spirits, but it just didn't seem realistic to me.

I am going to have to give this book 2.5 stars. I am really on the fence as to whether to give it 2 or 3 stars. In the end I really just struggled to finish this book. I definitely would have given her book 3 stars had it not been for the religious aspect. Overall the book was, for my taste, too spiritual and not paranormal enough. However, if I were open to religion or spiritual topics, then maybe I would have liked this book better. That is to say, please don't totally discount this book based solely upon this review.

Story was a good one but I found it really annoying that the word ‘indigenous’ was used way to many times

This book is essentially a memoir of a psychic. It was interesting reading about her life, her struggles and her ultimate success in overcoming the issues she faced.

Well written and easy to read you feel a connection to the author as she recounts the events of her life and can only admire her strength and determination as she faces her own unique events.

This is a book with such a different premise, I was so looking forward to reading it. However, for me, although the first few chapters were interesting, I then lost interest and found it a self indulgent diary more than anything. It just didn’t flow and I found myself flicking through it rather than being truly engaged.

Thanks for the opportunity to preview.

I’ve read several books regarding spirit guides the last few months where the author wrote about their life and how they began speaking with their spirit guides, and I enjoyed them. There was just enough of their life story to help you understand how they ended up meeting their spirit guides and how they began communicating with them, and how you can read their signs and communicate with yours also. So I was sort of expecting the same thing here, but I was a little disappointed. If you’re more interested in reading a biography about a person’s life and how they overcame hardship and other life stressors and not so much about the spirit guide part, you’ll enjoy this book. The author is very thorough, very detailed about all that she has gone through, and you can’t help but feel for her and want to give her a big hug. She really needed her spirit guides in the worst way as she has been through it all, abuse, homelessness, a relationship with someone she thought understood the medium in her but later realized he didn’t, you name it. But I can’t say I enjoyed reading this as what she has been through is just so awful, and a few things were just too personal for my own life and left me a little down after reading it as it was just so heavily detailed. The part about her spirit guides was almost written as an afterthought to me. There are 2 or 3 she discusses a little more in detail at times, but a lot is written as she would go into the woods at her favorite spot and see her guides, and there wouldn’t be much elaboration beyond that. You won’t find much discussing how to figure out your own guides, how to look for signs, etc, so if you’re looking for that type of guide, this won’t be for you.

I think things were just overly detailed for me, and I would have liked more elaboration and help on the spirit guide aspect. This was just more of a biography read than anything, which isn’t a bad thing if you enjoy that type of book. It IS helpful if you’ve already read about the subject to give some more examples of situations where and how they may appear, though. Just don’t go into it expecting a thorough book on spirit guides.

There also seemed to be a sudden ending to the book, or else something just felt missing at the end of the book. I was surprised when I checked where I was and realized I was reading the last chapter.
