This was okay. I wanted more romance and connection between Lindsey and Jace. There was some chemistry but it wasn’t enough to get me excited about this couple. It was really hot when they finally gave into their feelings, but that lack of intense chemistry still left me wanting. The ending was also kind of lackluster with an epilogue leading into the next book. I’m not sure whether I’ll continue this series even though there’s a larger story encompassing the whole series.

Cherri Lynn is a new to me author but I am totally hooked!

Deadlock is the first book in her new Hacker World Series and it’s black hat vs white hat at its best! Jace Adams has good reason to mistrust Lindsey Morris but he seems to be the only person she can trust.

I loved the dynamic between Jace and Lindsey and the struggle to figure out who could and couldn’t be trusted. Lindsey has several moments of WTF that felt so real, as opposed to other suspense novels where the heroine never questions anything. Jace was a bit intense at times but his backstory played a role in that, and I’m hoping we get more of that as the series continues. The two of them together pushed their comfort zones but also created really sweet moments, the Legend of Zelda scene was perfect! The suspense and romance were well balanced and the steam level was spot on for the action of the book. I’m very excited to see where the series goes and exactly what role Lena did play in the MIT incident!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

I have adored the Cherrie Lynn books I have read in the past (I mean, hellllooooo Ghost!) and I was intrigued by the hacker aspect of Deadlock, so it wasn't a hard decision to make to request Deadlock.

And whilst I liked this story, I didn't love it. I had trouble connecting with the characters, and mostly found them annoying and not really likable.

To me, Jace was just a d!ck, Lena a b!tch and Lindsey, whilst completely capable, a bit of a door mat to her sister - have I said how much of a b!tch I thought she was. But this could just be me.

I was intrigued by the hacker elements of the story - I am so tech stupid most of it flew right over my head.

So, whilst I didn't love Deadlock, I did like it enough that I will read more of the series in the future.

A different twin comes a calling…

This is the first book in the Hacker World series that can be read as a stand-alone.

There are people in life that you don’t forget, like the ones who betray you. In college, at MIT, Jace Adams fell for a pretty face and hacked into the educational records system to change her grades. He wouldn’t have been found out but that pretty face turned him in and he was booted out, his aspirations ruined. Contacted by a clandestine government agency afterward was a welcome happenstance, or was it? When that woman shows up at his door years later his anger at the woman revives with a vengeance. When she says that she’s not who he thinks she is, that she’s the betrayer’s twin and needs his help to find her missing sister he’s not sure he should believe her. Why should help the woman who betrayed him? That the twin was able to track him down was problematic and requires looking into.

As usual Lindsey Morris’ sister who had promised to help with their parent’s anniversary is not to be found. Should she worry? Not until an odd text stating that Lena’s in trouble and asking her to go to an unknown address did she worry. When she gets there the man who answers the door is none other than the man her sister betrayed, the man she had a crush on in college, he didn’t know she existed then. His rage at seeing her is understandable but she needs his help to find her sister whose apartment was ransacked and a friend of her sister that she didn’t know was asking questions.

There is more to the sister than her family knows, Jace’s connections apprised him of certain facts he can’t divulge to Lindsey. Together with some, not much, help from Jace’s friends these two search for the missing Lena, Jace fighting the attraction he feels for the twin he hadn’t known in college and who’s also capable with computers. The main protagonists were likable, their chemistry was not that palpable, the heroine could have been stronger in terms of confidence, and with all the bitterness Jace had his trust issues were quite understandable if a little overdone.

The romance in this story overpowered the intriguing hacker plot that didn’t get enough attention to satisfy this reader. A few meetings where the participants mainly argued didn’t really provide a good feeling for the potential of the group. The level of suspense was minimal, a slight tease that detracted from what could have been an exciting plot if done differently. Though the book ending didn’t surprise what this reader had already surmised it was an interesting development but I’m not sure I’ll continue with this series.

When Lindsay goes to Jace for help to find her twin sister, Jace thinks that Lindsay is Lena and wants nothing to do with her - the person who ruined his future. But he soon realizes that although the twins are identical, they are nothing alike and he can't help that he is attracted to Lindsay. Lindsay has had a crush on Jace since they were back in college when her sister ruined his life. Seeing him now, after all these years, Lindsay can't deny that she is more attracted to him than ever. And hopefully she'll be able to convince him to help her find her sister.

This book is full of suspense, drama and romance. I loved how even thought Jace is considered a genius, he just couldn't understand his attraction to someone who looks exactly like the person who ruined his life ... the heart wants what the heart wants! And WOW the steam between them could burn the sheets! The author set up the series nicely by introducing you to the other members of the Jace's team ... and you just know that they all have their own stories. A great start to a new series.

Wow! I hadn't read a book by Cherrie Lynn, but I liked this one! I was caught up in the cat and mouse and "where will the story go" the entire book! Holy cow there is a lot going on in this book and it was a perfect set up for the books to come! I can't for the books to come. Lindsey's twin (Lena) is hiding secrets and has sent a message to Lindsey to go to an address for help. The address of Jace, the boy that Lena got kicked out of school. Needless to things, Jace and Lindsey had a rough start that is for sure! Throughout the book, you don't know who to trust, what is going on. It was fast paced and kept me on my toes and there were twists and turns I wasn't expecting. Jace was a good hero, I did get mad at him a couple of times because of his doubts about Lindsey but I did kind of get of because of the damage Lena did to him....but I still wanted to smack him. Lindsey, I just thought she grew as a character and in the end she became the badass.

The secondary characters were all great and the bad guy is a real bad guy....This book does have a conclusion but the underlying story does not end. That doesn't bother me, and I don't consider it a cliffhanger, I could stop reading now and be content....okay not really because I like the storyline and characters :) But, I don't think you will feel like you are left on a cliffhanger. Now, lets just get book two out!!!!

I give this one 4 stars because I didn't like the ending. I mean, don't get me wrong, there is a conclusion but to me it was more HFN rather than HEA. The book was written very well and it was fast paced, I enjoyed reading it.

I loved the book specially towards the end. I would also recommend reading it atleast once.
Romance- 2 1/2
Suspense- 3
Story type- HEA
Lead characters:-
Hero- 3
Heroine- 3
Pros:-
1) Love the twist about twins.
2) Towards the end the heroine becomes strong.
3) Book became exciting towards the end.
4) Love the ending would love to read tge next book
5) Love that the heroine is so talented and towards tge end she also becomes strong.

Cons:-
1) 1st half was kinda slow.
2) Heroine was kinda dull during 1st half.
3) Author could have worked more on romance part of the novel. It felt kinda abrupt.
4) Final showdown should have been more detailed.

I would love it if, Lena reveals the reason for the stunt that she did in college to Jace and Lindsey, in the next book. I love that author has revealed little something to look forward for the next book.

Overall it was a good book. I waiting desperately to read it. I totally love the summary of the book. Though I don't understand, where the name of the book came from, still its catchy and intriguing.

This is my first book by Cherrie Lynn and it was quite good. The build up of the plot is at a steady pace. Great chemistry between Lindsey and Jace. I would classify this as Romantic suspense. Great introduction to the Hacker World Series.

Lindsey Morris’ receives a strange message from her twin, Lena. Lena is missing and her apartment has been trashed and Lindsey is to go to a certain address for help. Lena is the mysterious twin, while Lindsey is content to spend time in her home and with her computer work. The address leads her to Jace Adams, computer hacker and former Air Force. Lena was once responsible for wrecking Jace’s future, why would she think that Jace would help her now? Jace was not aware that Lena had a twin, so his reaction to Lindsey was hostile…at first. There is more to Jace than his computer hacking and he agrees to help Lindsey find Lena as whatever Lena is involved in may relate to his past. This romantic suspense was quite involved as Lindsey and Jace work together to solve Lena’s disappearance. Although this story seemed complete, the ending seems to leave doubt that “happy ever after” is not entirely secure for Jace and Lindsey. This is my first time reading this author and I enjoyed the first book in the Hacker World series.

Although we get to meet the entire hacker team, this first book focuses on Jace and Lindsey. In college Lindsey’s twin Lena got Jace kicked out of MIT. Now, Lindsey needs Jace’s help getting Lena out of trouble.

Of course there’s the mistaken identity moment when they first meet again and Jace thinks Lindsey is Lena, but thankfully, the author didn’t go down that route of one twin pretending to be the other and the potential lover falls in love with the “wrong” person. Once everyone understands there are 2 of them, the real fun begins.

This was a fun read. I was entertained in all aspects of the book. The romance wasn’t forced, the characters had chemistry. The camaraderie and sense of family was evident within the hacker team even when they were disagreeing with each other.

These were two characters who needed each other. Jace needed someone who loved him unconditionally and Lindsey needed someone to give her purpose and who just needed her.

The epilogue gave a hint that maybe everything is not as it seems and more shenanigans are in the works. Maybe even Lena gets her own story….? I look forward to the rest of this series.

The first book is a freindnemies story line. Lindsey has a sister who is missing, and that sister betrayed and hurt Jace, who is a main hero. She sends a cryptic text to Lindsey to find him. This has it all Action, Passion and Geek-speak.

This was a great start to the Hacker World series. Warning, this book may keep you up at night. Fast-paced and full of action. Twins Lena and Lindsey are polar opposites and their involvement with Jace makes for a great story. Enter the world of computer hacking and the many roads it takes you. A world of danger and suspense. Quite a story with entertaining characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Lindsey Morris is so mad at her sister Lena when she is absent from their parents' anniversary party that was suppose to be a joint planning en-devour. Lindsey is used to her sister doing her disappearing act and leaving without a word for days and weeks at a time. But...this time Lindsey has had enough of being left holding the bag and stomps to Lena's apartment when she does not answer her phone. What she finds is a destroyed and vandalized room and evidence of violence! Seeking the help of an Ex-Air Force Hacker Jace Adams is the only path available to Lindsey in the race to find her missing twin. Great characters and action keeps the pages turning. "A copy of this book was provided by Entangled via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." Can't wait for the next in Lynn's Hacker World Series.

Lindsey and her identical twin sister Lena are very different people. Lindsey gets pulled into danger when her sister Lena doesn't show up for their parents' anniversary party. Lindsey ends up on Jace's doorstep. Jace's plans for his future were derailed by Lena and he has a lot of emotions about it years later. He never met Lindsey back when he knew Lena. He is more than shocked to see her at first thinking she is Lena. Then even after finding out she's not he is unsure if he should trust her. They end up working together to find Lena. I really enjoyed the book. It was full of suspense and a lot of twists and turns. The characters were enjoyable and interesting. It was quick paced and easy to read. I totally recommend! I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Romance and hackers and finding a missing twin!

Lindsey Morris is angry at her identical twin sister Lena for missing their parent’s anniversary party when she receives a message that Lena ran into trouble and ask an address that Lindsey didn’t know for help. The address belonged to Jace Adams that Lena asked to hack her grade at UMass and then turned on Jace and he got kicked out of MIT and joined the Air Force because he needed a job. Jace still hated Lena but decided to help Lindsey who actually was a classmate of his even if he didn’t remember her because he thought that Lena was trying to set him up again and he wanted to find out more.

Deadlock is very much a romance mixed with the mystery of Lena’s disappearance and what she actually did for a living and the connection with Lindsey which was an interesting surprise at the end of the book and now I want to read the next book in the Hacker World series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My first by this author and I enjoyed it. I love a good twin story and when Lindsey's twin, Lena does missing, she turns to Jase to help her find Lena. This book kept me wondering and guessing what would happen next. You can tell this is the first in a series as it sets some things up. Overall I would recommend and I look forward to reading more. I was provided an ARC for my honest review.

Deadlock is my first book by Cherrie Lynn, but it won't be my last. Ms. Lynn has delivered a well-written book. The characters are fabulous and are my favorite part of the book. Lindsey's twin sister is missing. She has one text from her sister telling her she's in trouble and for her to go to a certain address for help. Jace hated Lena after she got him tossed out of MIT. When Lindsey arrives looking like Lena Jace doesn't believe her and sends her on her way. Jace and Lindsey's story is packed with drama, action, humor, sex and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and hope to read more from Cherrie Lynn soon. Deadlock is book 1 of the Hacker World Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. But there is a really good hook that will make you want to buy the next book in the series in the epilogue.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m a happy reader these days because several of my favorite authors are stepping outside what we usually see ,and of course love, from them. This is the case with Deadlock. While there is plenty of angst, a Cherrie Lynn staple, this one’s got intrigue and danger as well.

Lindsay’s flaky twin sister Lena is missing and she’s directed to approach Jace, an ex-military, super-secret-force hacker. (Out of curiosity: Is Cherrie Lynn secretly a hacker? Cuz I sure couldn’t follow the technical stuff and am happy to assume she got it all right.)

I loved the twin angle, I always find that fascinating, especially when the twins are as different from one another as these two.

Jace hates Lena for reasons, once revealed, are convincing. Can he trust Lindsay? Can she trust him? Is Lindsay right to focus her anger on Lena? As the plot speeds to a conclusion Lindsay makes a really dumb move (but necessary to hasten things along) and the result is a fair bit of violence, vividly described. The book ends on a semi-cliffhanger as this is the first in Lynn’s new Hacker World series. I want the next one ASAP!
