A great premise and a good start to a series. The main character was tough to love at times but overall a good book with great promise.

I really liked the idea of this story and overall it's not a badly written book. My major flaw with this book is that I couldn't stand the main character. She came off as immature and really got on my nerves.

When I saw this involved fae, of course I had to pick it up. Trisha is a great heroine, and while a fairly typical teenager in most respects, she does have something special about her - the ability to regenerate. Although I'm not sure if I could team up with my ex, (who tried to kill me), to hunt down a dangerous criminal, I really loved how the plot evolved. It's a great read for anyone who enjoys an urban fantasy with a dash of thrills.

this was a great start to a series, it was a great young adult novel with great characters and I enjoyed the world-built of this.

“So many questions about my parents and why Starren wanted to know about them so bad. But that was okay. Nina caught my eye and smiled. I smiled back. It was okay as long as I had my family.”
-Cassie Greutman, Regen

2.5🌟/5

I received this e-book from Netgalley.

Beware of the spoilers 😊:

Trisha (the main character) is a fae who lives on earth. She lives with Nina and Dan, her foster parents, while being not only unaware of where her biological mother might be, but also with obvious trust issues.

The story developes into some kind of “fae hunting” where we meet different creatures such as trolls. We are given many...soooo many questions, such as: where did Trisha’s mother go? Why don’t we ever see or even comunicate with the fae council? What was the council trying to achieve with Jasper’s powers? Perhaps some sort of world domination? (Jasper kind of tells us why, but it would have been better if the author would have explained it more in depth).

I was very conflicted on how many stars I should have given to this book, even though I wouldn’t have given it more than 3 stars. There were some errors which I think the author should have tried to edit it more and unfortunately the ending was what I didn’t appreciate, it felt as if the author was telling me: “yes, I could have answered the many questions given throughout the story, but I didn’t know how”, which gave me a sour taste in my mouth and validated my final thought that this book is not even close to what a finished book should be.

Although this story takes some time to get to a good pace, it is one of the better YA fantasies that I've come across. There is eventually a good amount of action with a dash of romance appropriate to a teen book. Delightfully, Greutman didn't write a tale of a teenager with unique abilities that are used badly but in a heroic manner. The main character, Trisha, actually deals with difficult moral and ethical dilemmas that she must resolve.

Really enjoyed Regen! I haven’t read many fantasy books but that’s starting to change. The plot is well written and I like all of the characters in the book.

I adored this book and was drawn into it from the very start.

I get the impression that this is the first in a series, which I look forward to. It will be interesting to see what occurs with the characters as they grow and develop.

I always love some Faerie / Mixed-World books and those have always been my favorite. So coming into this book I thought I would be mesmerized by a different perspective—not so much. I felt very rushed and very… ashamed with the way the main character acted for most of the book. She was downright rude to her foster parents and I get that sometimes it happens, but this was constant… I did not appreciate the way that this was written out as much of it was unbelievable. The parents were fantastic in their own way for taking in a childlike Trish but I do feel like it was fairly fake the way they reacted to things.

The book does have a fantastic action adventure angle which is great for students who want it but everything else in the book just creates an uncomfortable atmosphere which would make some students put it down. I would not put this book in my collection as I do not believe it would circulate once students read it once. It would be found on the dusty shelf with other books that kind of make you feel ashamed.

A book about Trish who gets killed by her boyfriend and left for that, but is able regenerate due to her being Fae. The powers that be in the Fae world need her for something though, so now they are offering her freedom to live with her foster parents in exchange for her help in catching a fugitive alongside her killer boyfriend.

I really liked this book and definitely hope there is going to be a sequel, there needs to be a sequel! It was a solid storyline, you find out about stuff along with Trish, which I like...you get tiny explanations at a time and there is still a lot left to uncover. This was a book I read a little bit further in when I really didn't have the time and what made me think about it when I wasn't reading. Not a lot of books do that for me, so..if you like a book with a strong female lead, a bit of adventure and mystery, go get this one!

Regen by Cassie Greutman is a book about Trisha Penchant, a Fae who grew up with humans, who ends up joining forces with an ex-boyfriend that tried to kill her in order to fight for her freedom from the Fae Council. This description really intrigued me to start this book, but I was a bit disappointed.

I felt the premise of the story was great. The setup for captivating character dynamics, goals and motivations were there but I found the execution lacking. I couldn’t connect to the characters (well maybe the Fosters and Jaime more so). The writing came off very “tell” and not “show.” And some scenes were given long descriptions while others that I personally thought were more important were breezed through.

It honestly took me a while to get through this book and I forgot what half the characters even looked like. But there was definitely action and a happy ending of sorts.

Foster child Trisha's life seems to be going well: a decent set of foster parents, even a boyfriend. Then she wakes in the woods and works out she's been shot by that boyfriend. She should have died but hasn't, her Fae power to regenerate has saved her. She now finds herself forced to work for the Fae Council to track down an escaped prisoner - but are the Council the good guys?

I liked Trisha, she's strong, working to do the right thing and, despite her awesome Fae powers, wants to stay in the human world. A good read.

Regen by Cassie Greutman is a fun YA novel about a fae girl trying to live her life with her foster family while also learning about her fae abilities and dodging trouble from Faerie. I like how Trish is a teenager with confusing feelings with just the right amount of attitude that's not over the top. I liked the confusion it caused that she was a fae that was not supposed to care about humans but which obviously turned out to be untrue due to her growing up in the human world. I've always been a fan of stories about Faerie and Greutman did not disappoint. I enjoyed the different types of creatures as well as the abilities we saw in this first book of the Penchant for Trouble series. I'm excited to see what will be next.

Fun, fast, thrilling read. I was hooked from the beginning. Absolutely loved it, but I’m biased I love fae books so it was onto a good start. Great characters and an interesting plot, highly recommended read.
