Loved this modern tale with Greek mythos woven in. Fast paced and exciting read. Lots of different elements woven in from action to adventure to fantasy with fun romance elements woven in.

To be honest I enjoyed this so much more than I actually thought I would. Such a cool concept for a book! Would definitely recommend to a friend.

I liked the idea of this book a lot when I read the first few opening chapters. I was a little disappointed that the main character was a high schooler. I feel that this book could have been NA and been more enjoyable. I am curious to read the author's other two works that are not published and are still on Wattpad.

I enjoyed the last part of the book the most when Cupid, Cal, and Lilia let the other Myths out of their Sims. I hope they are talked about more in the other books because I would like to see the author's take on them.

I am also very intrigued at the hint of a love triangle at the end.

Cupid's Match is the first book I've ready by this author. Well-written characters and interesting plot made this a great read.

This book sounded promising from the description. A mythological contemporary with a hit of forbidden romance. However, that's not the novel that was provided.

This book felt very rushed. The world building wasn't really there.

Cupid's character felt bland and inconsistent. The relationship between the characters felt quite forced.

Hey Everyone!

Can you believe we have reached the week of Christmas, because in all honestly I can’t believe it. I’m just glad I have all my presents bought and wrapped. Today’s book that I am going to review is not really a Christmas book, however I absolutely loved this book and wanted to share it with you all. Cupid’s Match by Lauren Palphreyman, is an amazing take on Greek Mythology and romance.

The book description was taken from the Goodreads website:

“He’s mythologically hot, a little bit wicked, and almost 100% immortal. And he’ll hit you right in the heart . . .

“Miss Black, we have a big problem.”

Lila Black doesn’t believe in matchmaking, let alone soul mates. So then why is she constantly being hassled by the Cupids Matchmaking Service? But this gilded, cherub-bedecked dating agency isn’t exactly what it seems . . . and it’s about to turn Lila’s entire world upside down.

It turns out that Cupids Matchmaking is the real deal. As in, it’s run by actual cupids—who don’t look at all like they do in the paintings—and they have a serious problem with Lila’s “match.” Because this guy shouldn’t be in the system. He shouldn’t have a match. And while he’s irresistibly hot, he’s also incredibly dangerous. Because Lila’s true love match is Cupid. The original bad boy of love. And he wants her.

Now Lila’s once-normal teenaged world has exploded into a mythological nightmare overrun by crime-lord sirens, wrathful cupid hit men, magic arrows that cause no end of trouble, and a mischievous, not-so-angelic love god she can’t seem to stop herself from falling for . . .

Adored by 50 million readers on Wattpad, Lauren Palphreyman’s smash-hit book is now in print for the first time.”

This book had me laughing out loud, crying, and on the edge of my seat to see how it would all end. This isn’t your typical High School romance, but it is something better and involves a lot of mythology. Lauren has created a world that you won’t want to come out of, because her characters are one’s to fall in love with, and you will want their story to continue. I was hooked from the first page, and couldn’t put the book down until the very end.

If you love a good romance, mythology, and hot guys then you need to pick up a copy of this book as soon as possible.

Go on an adventure to discover a new side of the God of Love Cupid, my dears!

Hard hard pass. It sounded like it was going to be hot and funny but it fell flat. Cupid himself was meh and boring, Lila wasn`t anything spesial either. I was hoping to be blown away , grinning and loving it. I did not.

‘Cupid’s Match’ by Lauren Palphreyman was super cute and lots of fun. It did a great job of translating well-known and loved mythology to a contemporary setting, and the plot was original and super entertaining. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun, light read!

Cupid’s Match brings Greek Mythology to the modern era with a humorous and tension-driven take on the tale of Cupid.

Entertaining
You know, I honestly did not know if I was going to like Cupid’s Match or not. It had been sitting on my digital shelf for quite some time that I had almost forgotten about it. However, I was looking at some of my oldest digital arcs and finally decided to read this.

I was not disappointed.

Cupid’s Match was a fun read. It follows Lila, who storms into the Cupid’s Matchmaking Service to get them to stop spamming her. Here, she finds out that her soulmate, her match, is none other than the god of love himself, Cupid. However, the first rule of the Matchmaking service is that no Cupid can ever be matched.

However, of course, Cupid has never been one for rules as he enrolls himself in her school to meet his so-called match, sending Lila’s life into a chaotic mess.

It was a fun novel, and Palphreyman made the romance work by staying away from the insta-love trope. Instead, Palphreyman works on developing the friendship between the characters first and foremost, giving their relationship an excellent foundation to build off of.

However, the story also worked because Palphreyman used misdirection. For example, everyone who works for the matchmaking service is called a cupid, so Lila’s match may be another cupid and not the Cupid. Palphreyman’s writing style worked; she developed the story, and the characters worked well.

I also loved how Palphreyman brought to life Venus, Aphrodite, to many. Palphreyman’s rendition of Aphrodite is cruel, delusional, a perfect sociopath, but it is not far from classic mythology. Aphrodite cares much about herself, seeing herself as the sole governor of love and mandating that everyone keep their minds clear by forgoing love themselves.

Final Thoughts
It was a brilliant way to make Greek mythology unique in this case, and it worked for Cupid’s Match. As a novel, it works well on its own, but I hear it is the first trilogy. I will say I am intrigued, but I do not know if I am that intrigued to read the rest because it is a story that holds together well and comes to a solid conclusion. Great mythological characters such as Pandora, Medusa, and the Minotaur among the cast of characters helped with the climactic ending.

Cupid’s Match was a unique way to bring Greek mythology to life. It stands out amongst the crowd and stays away from cliches and tropes.

There’s just something missing from the book. The plot line is there on the surface but there is nothing deeper. Feels like a hollow read. Kinda confusing at points, and feels as if certain plot points came out of no where.

This book was the cheesiest of cheese and not in a good way. It felt like an amateur fanfic written by a 15 year old. It gave me Vampire Diaries vibes but wasn’t even as good as that. It also seems weird to me to be matching g soulmates at 17. Like the immortal creature is matched to the teenage girl. This book could have been better if they took this premise and grew it up a little. Anyway, it just wasn’t fir me. The plot was thin, the characters were two dimensional. There really just wasn’t anything there to sink my teeth into. The best thing I can say is that it was a quick read and I finished it.

This book came from Wattpad! Glorified fan fic, turned fiction. Love it. It's quick and easy, horribly entertaining. If you like Jennifer L Armentrout's Wicked trilogy, you'll love this.

You ever read a book and you really want to like it but some things are just so far fetched it makes you have a hard time with the entire story? That was this book. I found the premise of the story fun and not something I have read before so that was exciting. What I didn't find so fun was the fact that a multi-century-year-old guy would still ask a girl to a high school dance. It was two worlds colliding and not meshing in my brain. I don't see how two guys driving Lamborghinis could fit into a high school in a small town. And how a 17-year-old girl could basically not check in with her dad for several days and not have any repercussions for that. I really enjoyed the inclusion of several mythical characters and their supporting roles in the story. The action was good and I did enjoy all of the characters no matter how unbelievable their actions might have been. All in all I would say this earned a solid 3 to 3 1/2 stars for me. Thank you, NetGalley for the eARC copy.

Unfortunately this book was a DNF for me. I only made it about 40% through and I had to put it down. I wanted to like this book and the concept was interesting but it felt like too much of a soap opera for me. It drove me nuts that even in serious situations Lila was making jokes and her reactions just seemed so immature to me. Bummed I did not like this more.

As much as I wanted to enjoy this, this was most definitely not my thing. I found myself excited about the cupid elements of this, but I just did not click with the writing at all for some reason.

Title Cupid’s Match
Author: Lauren Palphreyman
Rating 3 stars

This book is from Wattpad Books. (I didn’t know that was a thing) I really like the characters, i especially liked the fact there was no insta love trope. The characters were well written. There was love, comedy and betrayal. I think it’s a good book for people into romance and mythology.

I received this book from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I sadly DNF"d this book because a) it started off in a very weird place, and I felt like more build-up was necessary, and b) as much as I was hoping for it not to, it just felt like a cliche Wattpad novel (which makes sense when you realize that's exactly what it is). The premise did sound really good, though, & right up my ally (I'm a HUGE fan of Greek mythology retellings!), so maybe I'll consider trying this book again at a future date!
