I love this book! It’s educational while being hilarious and the photos are excellent. It’s good for any age range, as even those too young to read will enjoy looking at the animals. I know I’ll be returning to it often when I need my mood lifted!

E-arc received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a completely adorable book that I could not put down. There are cute pictures of all the animals, and hilarious reviews on each from plays on their names or things about how they don't do what their name says. It also slyly puts some thought provoking things in as well though. Conservation is important, and without it, many other species would be extinct. I immediately preordered this and will be making my husband read it as well.

Bwahahahaha!

This awesome book, which hilariously reviews animals, yes really, is snark-on-a-stick and I loved every second of it! The amazing pictures are just a bonus.

Thank you to Timber Press and NetGalley for giving me this funny ARC in exchange for an honest review!

An idea conjured by Shervin Hess of Oregon Zoo, and with the talents of others in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, this super cute book, full of bright and striking photos and punny tags for each #rateaspecies animal, is an excellent addition to any library.

I really enjoyed sharing it with my kids who are 9 and 11. It is hard to pick a favorite but if I had to.... it would be the Giant Pacific Octopus on pg 11 - it's rating reads: "OCTOMAZING - This waterproof model expands to cover large spaces; customizable coloring blends easily with any decor. Eight arms equipped with suction cups secure to any surface. Bonus: super-collapsible for easy storage." Just picture it. I laughed until I snorted!

I went into this read, expecting repetitive ratings, honestly who could rate these super cute animals less than 5 stars? I was pleasantly surprised by the range in ratings but was in that same note frustrated by the repetitive nature of it. This isn't the kind of book I would recommend to sit straight through and read, it's one to be enjoyed over time, something to pick up for a chuckle, and return to over and over again.

I received an arc of this title from Netgalley for an honest review. I think kids will get a kick out of this book. The author has created a 5 star system to rate animals. Lots of funny pictures and informative too.

Thanks to NetGalley and Timber Books for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. It is hysterical!
Great book for family fun! Play a game by reading the review and then have the kids guess what animal it is!
Everyone should get a copy to support the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

A funny collection of tweets from Zoos and aquariums around the world about some of their favorite animals. Written in the style of a "bad Amazon Review", some of these are funny because they're accurate, others because of intentional inaccuracy.
A quick and cute read about some amazing animals. Includes images of each of the "reviewed" animals. A great fundraiser for zoos and aquariums.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

Animals Reviewed: Starred Ratings of Our Feathered, Finned, and Furry Friends exists because of an idea that came to Oregon Zoo’s Shervin Hess while shopping online for hiking boots. The four-star rating of these boots came with a blurb that could have described the boots or Hess’s favorite Oregon Zoo resident, Lincoln the sea otter: waterproof, great for winter, only comes in brown.

The #RateASpecies hashtag led to this book, a humorous and sometimes educational rating system of dozens of species at a variety of zoos and aquariums. Sometimes providing factoids, other times drawing attention to interesting features, but always entertaining, Animals Reviewed is a great choice for animal lovers of all ages. Every rated animal has a stunning photograph to accompany its rating.

Proceeds benefit the AZA’s mission to advance animal welfare, public engagement, and conservation. The Association of Zoos & Aquariums is an organization dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, education, science, and recreation.

Thanks to Timber Press and NetGalley for the provided e-ARC and the opportunity to read this book. My review is honest, unbiased, and voluntary. #NetGalley #AnimalsReviewed

Review to come October on blog/Goodreads/Amazon.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I spotted this book on Netgalley and was cautiously enthusiastic. Rate an animal? This could go two ways, fun and hilarious or fun at first and than bland. Then I started reading it, and I even pulled in my fiance because I laughed myself silly at the first page. We continued reading this whenever we had time that evening.

We encounter many animals that all live in the zoo there. From tiny creatures to big creatures there is a great variety of animals that get rated. Some even get a special title on top of their review. Some are written with more thought while others seem like a review from Amazon. The reviews were really funny and very spot-on. Plus, I am happy that there was a variety in the star-ratings. Every star-rating popped up. From very good 5 stars to not so good 1 star.

Since I was reading this on my ADE there were parts that just had text and then on the next page you would see the animal. I am guessing that in the paper version you would immediately see the animal, but that wasn't always the case here. So my fiance and I had tons of fun guessing the animal based on the review. Often we knew within a sentence what the creature could be, other times we had to dig hard. :P It really added a fun factor to the book.

There was just one thing that was a nice add the first time, but became a bit less nice with each creature that is on the verge of extinction. I get it, they are dying out, do you need to mention it so many times? Couldn't you have put a bit more creativity in it/another spin to it?

Plus points to the fun way the book ended. We hadn't expected that but it fit perfectly.

All in all, looking for a funny book? Love animals? Love reviews? Try this one out. As for me, I am hoping there will be more books coming. I need more animal reviews!

This book is hilarious. It's got some amazing pictures of beautiful animals. and it often reads like those hilarious TripAdvisor ratings you often see online. Plus, any book with a red panda as a cover star is good enough for me. A must have in any classroom, and a great addition to some early ecology lessons.

This book is really cute and fun. It's a perfect gift for the animal lover in your life.
The only thing I would have suggested was to organize animals by type; I would have loved to skip those that slither. lol

5* Loved this! Loved the gorgeous pics and the witty comments.

There's a lot of thought, affection and love gone into this book. The pictures are awesome and the comments had me snorting. I'll be getting the paper copy of this, as it's something my husband would adore.

ARC courtesy of Timber Press and NetGalley, for my reading pleasure.

This amusing little book rates animals like Amazon users rate the products they buy. My favorite was the anteater, who was purchased for vacuuming duty, but lost a ratings star because it’s “nozzle” was not detachable. The book in no way demeans or belittles animals, to the contrary, it makes fun of humans and our desire to have everything in the world do our bidding

**I would like to thank the publisher for giving me a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Warning: This book will put a smile in your face.
Nature is precious. We should live by that and not take anything for granted. I really like the idea behind the book and all the pictures/reviews. It would make a fantastic present for any animal lovel! Highly enjoyable read!

This was a fun book with a variety of species being rated by different zoos as part of raising awareness and to have fun. I thought the introduction was good to say why they did this and the role of accredited zoo in conservation. However, I doubt many people will read it. I was a little surprised how long some of the reviews were after the examples from the blurb and the cover and enjoyed the shorter ones more. They also got a little repetitive after a while, though I did read this in one sitting. It is more of the kind of book you might browse than read cover to cover. Overall, it is fun and a nice balance of humor and interesting facts about animals from what they eat to how many of them really smell bad.

"Animals Reviewed" is a beautiful and funny book for kids of all ages. It was 'written' by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums through ratings and reviews of special animals they care for in their respective zoos and aquariums.

The photos used throughout the book are so beautiful and the "reviews" are creative, funny and interesting. There are lots of cool facts buried in the animal reviews that you might not know, making it an informational and educational book.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this by myself and look forward to sharing it with my kids too.

I received this eBook free of charge from Timber Press via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I did not receive any fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.

Goodreads Rating: 4 stars.

4.5 stars. Received digital copy, but just as awesome as a physical version! Pictures were adorable and the words were all funny. Lots of puns and snark throughout, which is always a plus for me. Any fan of the hashtag or animals in general should read this!
