This is a spectacularly bad book for so many reasons. DNF, but I made it 40 percent through and feel like I should get a trophy for that.

In really good novels, while I’m reading, I forget that there is an author who sat at her desk day after day after day constructing the book because I’m so lost in the story. The writing in this novel very noticeably calls attention to itself. There are good lines, but I can envision the author at her desk, smiling at her own cleverness.

Agnes is a writer who married a Hollywood big shot. One day she comes home to her palatial mansion to find she’s been locked out. Is divorce next?

I don’t care because Trevor is a horrible man. If your criteria for a good husband is that he’s good looking, rich, and successful, yes, Trevor’s your guy. If what you care about in a husband is that he’s a good human who treats you well, he’s a self-absorbed dick. I care much more about the latter, so of course she shouldn’t get back with him. Even if he didn’t cheat, he LOCKED HER OUT OF THE HOUSE INSTEAD OF HAVING A CONVERSATION LIKE AN ADULT HUMAN BEING.

He sends her to rehab because she eats too many almonds. She actually goes. WTF? Only for a day, but then he can say she’s been to rehab, which of course implies a drug/alcohol problem. I had to stop there because It was all too stupid for words.

This one wasn’t for me. I felt the author was trying to hard to be funny and some was just plain unrealistic. Thank you netgalley and publisher for this arc in exchange of an honest review.

Thank you St Martins Press for a copy of this ARC but I could not finish it. It is poorly written and all over the place. The writing is really hard to follow along.

Read through 15% before giving up. The writing is a bit all over the place. I appreciate witty remarks but there was so much going on that it was really hard to follow along and not be overwhelemd in confusion. Is she talking in her head or are we reading about what’s happening. Too much going on for me. Sounded like a fun book but I think the writing was trying too hard and wasn’t edited enough to make it readable.

I did not finish this book. I only made it through two chapters. The author is trying too hard to be funny. It's overkill and very unrealistic. And, the inner monologue of Agnes is irritating and confusing. It pulls the reader out of the story.

Hilariously funny. I laughed so hard I cried. Fantastic!

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Agnes is a writer, her soon to be ex husband is a producer. This book covers Hollywood life and a Hollywood divorce and all that goes with it. It’s full of humor and exploits.

I was hoping that this was going to be a fun read....but it was more of a hot mess of a read. The characters were so over the top I couldn't take the book seriously. There are some funny parts and a lot of snark in it which did make me chuckle but for the most part, I felt like this book was a little bipolar!

Agnes is dealt a pretty poor hand in the Marriage game, but is able to bluff and blunder her way through the ashes to happiness and success. She is so relatable and real that it's like spending time with a girlfriend who was blindsided by a vindictive, wandering husband. The best part is that she manages to not only find peace, she finds herself.

The humor in this book was great, but I just couldn’t connect with any of the characters. It’s all about Hollywood drama and a failed marriage for Agnes. I wanted Agnes to stand up for herself more. The second half of the book made me understand more of the drama.
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I tried really hard to get into this book, but I had to put it down about 30% of the way in. I felt like that was giving it enough of a chance before deciding it's really not the book for me. And I say that as someone who almost never stops a book in the middle of it. The only way I can really describe this book is as "extra." It's A LOT and I found it exhausting to read. It felt like that friend who is just trying so hard and won't stop talking and who you just want to look at and say, "Shhh. Take a breath and stop talking for a minute."

Not only was the prose nonstop ridiculousness, but the characters felt like caricatures and pretty far-fetched. The story also felt confusing and I had a hard time figuring out what was happening part of the time. I'm not easily offended at all, but some of the writing felt so out of touch and made me cringe. Yikes.

Clearly, Gigi Levangie has a lot of fans and I absolutely hate disparaging a book just because it's not for me. Not every book is for every person and just because I didn't like it, doesn't mean someone else won't. The cover of this book is adorable and I had such high hopes for it, but unfortunately, it wasn't at all the book for me.

When I first read the blurb for this book, it sounded like the perfect light and funny read. While this book did have plenty of good one liners that were indeed funny, the story was lacking. It seemed to jump from one scene to the next without any good transitions and the story itself just fell flat for me.
This story focused on Agnes. A wife, mother and woman in her 40's dealing with some big transitions, all while living the Hollywood life. Her husband Trevor wants a divorce and he will fight to win. But that's all it is for him. To win. He doesn't really understand the consequences of winning and Agnes is a one woman show that is full of some great one-liners, but also genuinely cares what happens to her daughter and to her family.
Been There, Married That had the potential to be more funny if it flowed better and didn't drop so many "famous" names. That honestly drew me out of the story and didn't have the effect that I believe they wanted. The one liners were good, but I just wanted more. If the transitions between each scene were more cohesive this story could've been at least a star higher.
Overall, this book was not for me. I fell asleep a few times while reading it and found myself skimming it because it didn't hold my attention. It had potential, but fell flat.

Been There, Married That by Gigi Levangie Grazer
.
📚 Trevor & Agnes Nash are living the lush life of a Hollywood power couple with their daughter Pep. It seems like all is bliss, til Trevor decides he'd rather no longer be married and only focus on himself. What's a Hollywood wife to do?!? No one prepares you for this!!! 😅 A divorce ensues, and while you'd think they'd be able to handle this as adults, it seems divorce brings out the worst in some people. Trevor is competitive, to say the least, and will stop at nothing to "win". Agnes takes the hits and must find a way to look beyond the hell he is putting her through, in order to keep her daughter's best interest first and foremost.
.
📚 I'll be straightforward and say that this was not an easy book for me to get through. I have a hard time DNFing a book, so I m•a•d•e myself finish it. Reading should never be this way. It was meant to be a fun, light read, but it seemed like the author was trying TOO hard to be funny and outlandish. I felt like this detracted from the story and it lost my interest throughout the beginning. I simply did not want to pick it up. However, it did get better in the second half. I feel like the author went back to the original storyline and stopped trying so hard to make the reader laugh. The characters were hard to love (😬😬😬 even simply to like), but I did enjoy Fin's character. She stole the show and it made me **almost** want a sister like her.

Wow okay, where to start. This was all over the place. This should have been right up my alley because I love funny sarcastic books and people, but this wasn’t it. The humor was there though out the whole book, but I feel like it was way to much. Like Agnes didn’t know how to deal with what was happening and had to be sarcastic. I mean don’t get me wrong she was dealing with a lot of crazy shit but damn. She had her moments where she cracked me up and said some off the wall things so that made me happy.

Her husband was a total man child who was super wishy washy, threw tantrums, and very vindictive towards her. I feel like he should have gotten beat up or had a glass thrown at him because he just got away with so much and was on my nerves. I also thought I’d like her sister Fin, but sadly I didn’t.

I did like Pen the daughter and the house keepers they were super funny. They kept me reading till the end because I wanted to see more of them. Sadly though this is a 2 star read for me. I love the cover art, the title and really thought from the synopsis this would be for me, but I know we can’t like every book. I hope you love this book if you do decide to pick it up.

I received a free copy from Netgalley, the publisher, and the author in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for this ARC.

The one thing I read consistently about this author was her ability to make the reader laugh out loud - and that is absolutely true. This was an easy read between reading books to my newborn and trying to catch up on my physical TBR pile. It was easy to escape into, and easy to enjoy. I look forward to more from the author.

I had some very mixed feelings about this book. Overall, I thought it was ok, but there were places where if I was the type of person to just stop reading a book, I would’ve put this book down and never made it to the end.

Oh man... where do I start with this book?

Wow this was a rough one my friends. I'm not going to sugar coat this review and I'm sorry if you're not a fan of my honesty. The writing was ALL over the place. I'm a huge fan of humor and jokes in my books... but there was so many that I was getting confused as to what the heck I was reading? I think the author was trying wayyyyy to hard to have humor in her book.

And let me talk about the characters. YUCK! I was not a fan of Agnes at all.... I just feel she was ridiculously fake and wayyy to over the top Hollywood scene. Ok.. I live in OC and have never met someone like Agnes... but who knows I guess there could be someone this shallow?

To be honest, I skimmed more then half the book and felt like I wanted to poke my eyes out. I should have stopped reading this book but was hoping hoping for something.

I can't recommend this one at all.

1.75 stars

This is my first book by Gigi Levangie. I found this book funny for the most part, but the rapid fire one-liners and snarky comebacks got a bit tiring. Agnes tells her Hollywood insiders perspective on being a wife to a wealthy movie mogul until he's done with her. Trevor the producer soon-to-be-ex has very few, if any redeeming qualities. It's hard to understand the amount of utter nonsense she puts up with and the blasé attitude toward possible infidelity in her own home. Yes, it's fiction, but it's got to ring true, people in LA can't possibly be that jaded. There is a lot of LA and movie industry specific humor packed into this story that was funny by way of making them all caricatures of real people.

The people I wanted to see the most of were their pre-teen daughter Pep and Agnes's sister Fin, the house maids were pretty entertaining too. I tried really hard to love this book, but it was just too big of a stretch for me. Trevor and his lawyers were calculated and horrible to Agnes causing her a panic attack and they both ask her out after it's all over with? *smh* Levangie needed a better editor to help whip this book with potential into a really funny one.
