This was a new author to me and I enjoyed reading the book. I didn't like the way Trevor treated Agnes or his daughter but the other characters did make me laugh. I received an ARC for an honest review and. when I was reading it I decided I didn't have the right sense of humor to think it was hilarious. and I was thankful for the life I have because I sure didn't want the life Agnes had. I enjoyed reading about the Hollywood couple and how they lived but it was a whole new world to me.
I did like the way the author wrote and would recommend the book to others. I felt a huge range of emotions reading this book and that was one of the things I liked most about this book.

I read People magazine. I watch TMZ. Celebrity gossip is fun. So an "insider" book about the breakup of a Hollywood marriage is right up my alley. So I want to thank the publisher and net galley for an ARC, which did not affect my review. I was excited to receive this book.

I love the tv show Southern Charm, and this reminded me of it. Frenemies, backstabbing, the cattiness, the importance of appearances, it all makes me laugh. This book has it all told with a sarcastic overlay.

So why didn't I love it? Well, it was confusing, especially in the beginning. I couldn't figure out who half the people were and what was going on. And mostly, I just didn't like anyone. There wasn't any one that i could relate to. There wasn't anyone that I loved to hate. I mostly just cringed and hated.

I wanted to like this one, I really did. Unfortunately, I found myself skimming just to get to the end. The premise was definitely interesting: "aging" (to Hollywood standards) Agnes is living the perfect Hollywood life. Perfect clothes, perfectly precocious daughter, connections to the right people and parties, marriage to top producer Trevor. But then Trevor tells her he wants a divorce and they engage in a battle of wits to see who will come out on top.

First, let me just just say that the voice is great. I love that Gigi Levangie captures what I think a lot of people believe Hollywood vapidness to be like. I loved Agnes's humor. Unfortunately, though the writing was great, it was that vapidness that I just couldn't get past. I should have known: I am not one to sit down to any of the Real Housewives.

This is also not the type of book to read while distracted. If you have perfect silence and can settle into this book before bed or something like that, I think you'll be fine. If you have kids, pets, tv on in the background, etc. you might find yourself quickly lost. There are so many names dropped and Agnes rambles off every possible tangent in her head--if I got interrupted mid sentence, I had no idea what was going on. And to be honest, I wasn't that disappointed.

It's so unlike me to give up on a book at 27% read, but in the case of Been There, Married That it was a question of retaining my sanity by stopping. Gigi Levangie's latest book sounds like it was written by someone stoned out of her mind by cocaine or meth. It skips around the Hollywood landscape from demented director husbands with erectile dysfunction issues, to menopausal wives, to make-up artists, mistresses, nannies, housekeepers and a "tween" daughter. Perhaps it is my own lack of familiarity with that scene, but it is impossible to read. And funny? Maybe I just didn't get it because for me the answer it "NO". Strange is that I have read Levangie-Grazier's previous novels and enjoyed them.

Do GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN.? If you and your book club say yes, then put this on your list. It’s the story of Agnes Murphy Nash, married to super producer Trevor Nash.

Starting out as a great satiric/insider view of life in the Hollywood Business of movie making, the reader follows Aggie as her dissatisfied husband launches her into a nightmare divorce.

The book is peppered with other characters, often caricatures, of life in LaLa Land. It’s simply a fun read. For those of you who like Real Housewives, you will love this book. Relax and enjoy, it is readable, fun and engaging from start to finish.

Hilarious, brilliantly written book. Agnes is so down to earth, with such a wry, caustic inner voice, she would appeal to just about anyone reading the book. She thinks or says all the things we are all thinking and are feeling guilty about thinking. Many of the inner workings of Hollywood are complicated and ultimately superficial in today's world. Marriages and families are almost set up to fail. I loved the family and friends.

I began listening to this book with VoiceViewer and poor Alexa kept tripping over her tongue. She just couldn't decipher all of the slang and wasn't at all familiar with Hollywood jargon. I had no idea what she was garbling half of the time, so I had to sacrifice the audible and go about it the old-fashioned way and read it. It helped somewhat but it wasn't enough. I love razor-sharp prose and I love a wicked sense of humor, but sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. The narrative became heavy-handed and tiresome, as though the readability had been sacrificed for the sake of a laugh. I imagine others will love this book, but it just wasn't for me. Sorry.

I haven't read any of Gigi Levangie's earlier books but I will be searching for them now. A laugh out loud story about a writer, Agnes, married to a big shot producer, Trevor, arrives hone from a book signing to find she is locked out of her home. Surprise! Trevor wants a divorce. The story that follows is full of characters that just want to help in their own way. Her sister, fresh out of prison, her dad who has his on ideas about marriage and divorce, Trevor's over the top attorney, Agnes's quiet attorney who gets the job done without all the fanfare. Three hilarious nannies who help not only with Pep, the daughter, but also advise Agnes on how to handle Trevor and his multiple assistants. A light fun read that will put a big smile on your face and make you laugh out loud.

In my opinion this was a hot mess. About 2/3 thru the author organizes her thoughts...before that it was all over the place. Book about spoiled Hollywood types and their drama and not interesting drama. I would skip this if I were you #netgalley

The writing of this book seemed very choppy to me. I could not even finish it. I did find some of it humorous but not enough so to continue reading.

Started this book last night, did not find it funny at all. Sorry I can’t finish the book. Wish I liked it but maybe I did not read enough. Hope others give it a chance.

Laugh out loud funny. Been There, Married That by Gigi Levangie reads like a roman a clef, not saying that it is but it reads like one what with the name-dropping of both real and imaginary people. It has an insider's feel to it that is delicious; just right for a summer read. Is there a special term for a winter read? This book comes out in February; it just may be the thing to curl up with in front of the fire with a bottle of your favorite libation on Galentine's Day.

Ms. Levangie has a real ear for a clever turn of phrase, I love the way she so precisely worded things. I highlighted so many times because I just enjoyed a phrase, a sentence, or a passage so very much. I will be recommending this book, my sister for one will get a kick out of it. I haven't read many books of this genre, I'm not sure what this genre would be actually. I suppose Women's Fiction but it seems more than that. It is definitely comedic, there is sadness too.

I know at times I would become so frustrated with Agnes. How could she not see what that rat Trevor was doing, what that so-and-so Petra was up to? I guess that what makes a lot of it seem plausible. We can't see the forest for the trees. We can see when it is happening to others but not when it happens to us. (There is none so blind as those who will, or is it can, not see.) I hesitate to say more because part of the fun is seeing where the story goes.

Been There, Done That is a fast read, I neglected a few things this afternoon to read it with pleasure. If you like a book with a sometimes sassy main character who talks to herself, this will be a real treat to read. I carry on conversations with myself in my head often, I probably shouldn't admit to that publicly ... what I mean to say (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say no more ...) is that Agnes is a relatable character. In fact, I should mention that all character descriptions are well defined making them easy to picture in your head. Go ahead read the book, if you must, count it as a guilty pleasure. While you do, I'll be looking for more book by Gigi Levangie

I enjoyed this novel very much. The characters were extremely well drawn and sympathetic, and the story line was seamless. Highly reccomend this excellent book.

Sometimes, you pick up a book and you know it's going to be work to get through it but you know in the end it will have been worth it. Then there's those time when you pick up a book and you know it's going to be work to get through it and you wish you could be doing anything but reading it. For me, unfortunately, it's the latter. I could see where Gigi Levangie Grazer was going with this and I sure was rooting for this book to live up to it's potential. In the end, it just fell flat. I love a good Hollywood romp, romantic comedy, but it's got to be light and funny and fast. This was none of the above.

OMG this book will make you laugh out loud so many times and make you say WTF at the behavior of the characters!! It really is a great book that tells of the behind the curtain part of Hollywood.

This was definitely not a novel for me. It had too much drama and too many grown people acting in ways I've never seen happen in reality. It felt like reading an episode of The Real Housewives of whatever.

I dnf’d this book Several chapters into the story. I just did not like the writing style and it felt choppy and hard to follow. I’m sure there are readers who love this author. It just wasn’t for me.

Good quick beach read. BEEN THERE MARRIED THAT is another in a string of entertaining tales about Hollywood and those who inhabit it. Since it bears absolutely no resemblance to my life at all, I thoroughly enjoyed the cattiness, the intolerable husband and the sycophants that surround and the wife's struggle to maintain some semblance of sanity and balance in the midst of an awful situation.

Gigi Levangie Grazer is back! I have all her older novels in paperback (Maneater being my absolute favorite) and am so glad that she is writing a brand new one here. This book had me laughing hysterically! I loved Agnes even though she sometimes came off as a pushover, and loved how it felt like I were watching reality tv! This is certainly one of those books that should be in everyone's beach bag!
