All the short stories were beautiful and well written by Wanda, Jean, and Richelle. However I wasn't impressed with the book overall. On the majority of the short stories, I wanted more and felt that more should have been written. That's just my opinion and I'm only one person in the big wide world of millions of readers.

I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is my honest review in my own words.

This is a collection of instructive stories set in the world of the Amish faith. They are quick reads with mostly predictable outcomes, but are nevertheless charming, if a bit didactic at times. Christian faith is central to each story and applicable scripture is given as an anchor for each parable-like story. As a longtime reader of Wanda E. Brunstetter, I am impressed and intrigued that her daughter-in-law and granddaughter have joined her in what is now becoming a family tradition. Four well-deserved stars from the reviewer.

This book has 18 great short stories that are tied to a theme. Since each story is different, this would be great for someone who is looking to not get tied down to 200 to 300 page book.

What a delightful book! Amish front porch stories are a series of short stories each of them portraying the fruits of the spirit. Each story is moving and entertaining. I found myself opening up the book whenever I had a free minute or two. Each story carried its own comfort and listen. Of course, I am a fan of Wanda Brunstetter and since the book also included stories by her granddaughter and daughter-in-law I knew that it would be a thoroughly enjoyable read. I wasn't wrong!

If you are looking for stories that captures encouragement, forgiveness, hope and unconditional love, look no further. Each story is unique and flows so gracefully that you feel a sense of peace as you read them. It is easy to picture yourself sitting on the front porch with Amish neighbors and friends as you share your struggles and accomplishments.

The stories are short but so relaxing to read. It was hard to pick out one story over others that I liked. Each one had different topics but you can easily relate to them. I loved how the stories help readers understand that the Amish have similar problems like us. Sometimes we can think that the Amish are different and in some ways they are. When it comes to matters of the heart, we all go through similar feeling and realize that God needs to be a part of our lives to help us get past the mountains that block us from our faith.

I love that the chapters are divided into topics like peace, love, joy and other very familiar subjects related to the Fruits of the Spirit. I loved how the stories helped me see where I am struggling and it encourages me to seek God more. This book is one that should be placed on your bookshelf to read again when you need an encouraging word. I felt like I walked away with a renewed sense of purpose and peace knowing that God is right there to lift me up.

I received a copy of this book from the authors. The review is my own opinion.

18 short stories by three authors, Wanda, Jean, and Richelle Brunstetter. Each story is individual, not a continuous flow. These are very short stories and are quickly read if the reader only has a bit of time to enjoy a read.
Each story is about issues we can all relate to and very well have possibly had ourselves. I enjoy stories I can relate to. One story deals with pride. The Amish take the sin of pride very seriously. Another involves a woman who has been unable to conceive a child. Another is deeply grieving the loss of her husband. Very touching stories. The title says it all, 18 Short Stories of Faith and Wisdom. I can't think of a better title for this!

A sweet collection of short Amish stories, written by 3 great authors. I really enjoyed this one, and the layout works well. Broken down into sections, such as Peace, Temperance, Love, Joy, etc. each short story is a lesson learned. Easy book to pick up and put down, and the short stories make it very portable when you are limited for time. Thought provoking and love the bible verses. A great book and one I highly recommend.

Stories to be savored, maybe an Advent devotion.

I need to disclose upfront that I am not a fan of short stories. However, I am a big fan of Wanda E. Brunstetter. I read this book straight through while on an international flight. Each of the stories was a long-ish short story, with a theme, supported by bible verses. Each had the hero/heroine in need of guidance, which was finally found. After a while, I found some repetitiveness in the format. However, I think this was due to reading the stories all at once while in a less-than-comfortable circumstance. I would recommend savoring the stories, read one, two, three at a sitting, then thinking about the stories and their messages. Maybe next to your fire. Maybe as an Advent blessing for yourself.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the loan of a time-constrained e-arc. I am under no obligation to write a review, and this review is my own opinion.

Amish stories for when you do not have a lot of time
New York Times best-selling and award-winning author and one of the founders of Amish fiction, Wanda E. Brunstetter, her daughter Jean Brunstetter, and her grand-daughter Richelle Brunstetter present short stories in the book "Amish Front Porch Stories. 18 Short Stories of Simple Faith and Wisdom", published by Barbour Publishing, Inc (Shiloh Run Press). The stories are grouped around the topics of Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance. These topics are taken from Galatians 5:22-23. The stories deal with issues that are linked to these topics and how recount how the Amish people solved the issues. Every story closes with a Bible quote that corresponds with the topic that was treated.
Wanda E. Brunstetter is an author well known to me and I highly appreciate and recommend her stories. This was the second time I read contributions by her daughter Jean and her grand-daughter Richelle and I also like them very much (after having also read "The Brides of the Big Valley. 3 Romances from a Unique Pennsylvania Amish Community"). The short stories are a quick read, they are inspirational and relaxing. Through the references to the Bible quotes they are also challenging to the readers' faith and life. I highly recommend this book to everybody who likes Amish stories that deal with love and live, especially also to readers who do not have the time to read a long book.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

These eighteen stories are each based on an aspect of the “Fruit of the Spirit”: Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. These short stories are inspirational and encouraging. There’s faith and wisdom that weaves in and out of every storyline. I liked the way that each story focused on a situation that an Amish man or woman was facing, and how through the sound counsel of others, they learned the importance of each quality. I thought all three authors did an equally nice job on their stories.

Although the stories are short, each felt complete and I felt as if I’d met the main character in each story. This is a sweet book and I’ll look forward to reading it again.

Amish Front Porch Stories is a collection of charming stories written by three generations of Brunstetters, Wanda, her daughter-in-law, Jean, and Wanda's granddaughter, Richelle. These 18 short stories are centered around the Fruit of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians in the Bible. There are 2 stories for each of the characteristics, including meekness, joy, faith, and peace and five others. Readers meet characters who are struggling with pride, depression, anger, challenges for a care-giver, cranky neighbors, and pesky animals such as lost dogs, escape artist horses and mischievous goats. Each of the stories has relatable and realistic situations that resonate well with the reader. Amish Front Porch Stories is a book that readers who love quick reads, Amish stories and Christian fiction will not want to miss.

If you're looking for a book you can read in short spurts, this one is perfect! Or of course, you can just read it all in one sitting, if you have time and just can't put it down. The book is filled with lots of heartwarming Amish stories sure to give you a warm, fuzzy feeling as you read. Readers won't be disappointed!

“Amish Front Porch Stories” by Wanda, Jean and Richelle Brunstetter is a combination of short stories about everyday life among the Amish. Each story is a look into the life of an Amish person who is having a crisis of faith or direction, and who, in the end finds the solution to their problem in their relationship with the Lord.

I did enjoy this book, but the stories were repetitious and not exactly that interesting. Each person’s everyday life was becoming boring, difficult, or unfulfilling. Although I could relate to quite a few of the vingettes, I wasn’t really that interested in the book itself. I did not think it was up to Brunstetter standards.

I really enjoyed the peaceful and sweet stories by this writing trio. This book contains 18 stories which all seem to teach a life's lesson. The stories include different topics, including depression and overcoming. It talks about life's hardships, joys and sorrows. The stories were obviously short but all told a wonderful theme with life's various happy and not so happy moments. It seems that the other characters in the stories often share some good advice and help to others. I enjoyed these suggestions and ideas. Good book to make you think about things!

I enjoyed this book and even the cover is pleasant and enjoyable to see on the bookshelf..

I recommend this book!

Amish Front Porch Stories by Wanda E. Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter & Richelle Brunstetter contains eighteen short tales of simple faith and wisdom. These short stories take us to Amish country where each woman is going through a struggle. I like that each story teaches us a life lesson. Simple Actions takes us to Berlin, Ohio where Anna Hostettler lives next to Lucy who is a chronic complainer. What is the best way to handle Lucy? Cardinal at the Window in Seymour, Missouri has Esther Stutzman struggling with depression while being overwhelmed with raising her seven children. How can Esther find joy once again? Nina’s Struggle has Nina Miller uncovering the truth about her father. I enjoyed each of these uplifting stories. We get to see these Amish women have problems just like us. Just because they choose to live differently, does not mean they do not have struggles. Depression, loneliness, pride, feeling awkward, lacking confidence are problems all of us face. These stories allow us to learn a new way to overcome these various issues. There is a scripture that go along with each story. I found myself writing down many of them to contemplate later. I feel that Amish Front Porch Stories would make a lovely gift especially to an individual who has trouble overcoming depression. Finding joy in a humdrum life can be hard, but there were some great tips provided. You can read one, two or all eighteen of the short tales in Amish Front Porch Stories. I enjoyed these well-written, heartwarming tales. This is one of those books that I will be find myself visiting often.

Amish Front Porch Stories.....to me, this was Amish Front Porch "Lessons"!!! Each story is short but meaningful. They truly are lessons on living life, in a peaceful, faith filled way. Each has a lesson to be learned and possibly a new way to look at life. The Amish see life through eyes that are not tainted by the English world so, at times, they see what we have lost because of our lifestyle. Sit back, clear your mind, open your heart and enjoy and learn from each of these "lessons"!!

The tip of Anna Hostettler's pencil broke when she picked it up to write in her journal. She set it aside and grabbed another one. An ink pen would have worked better, but Anna preferred a pencil with an eraser. It gave her the freedom to delete anything she'd written or changed her mind about.
Like so many other days this past week, today has not been good. The temperature outside is soaring, and the humidity has become so thick I can barely breathe. While I was downstairs doing the laundry this morning, one of the cats got into the house and ate the bowl of cereal I'd left on the table. Then on the buggy ride home from the grocery store, my horse threw a shoe, and now I have a headache.
Anna lifted her pencil from the page and reread the words she'd written. Not a very positive journal entry.
She turned and was surprised to see her friend Katie behind her. "Guder owed. I didn't know you were going to be here tonight."
Her friend chuckled. "Same here." She looked across the room. "Andrew's sitting with our little ones while I get my food, and when I return to the table it'll be his turn. We chose something from the menu that we know the kinner will eat."
Anna envied Katie and Andrew. They'd been married only four years and had been blessed with two children. Anna and Amos had been married five years and still had no children. She had miscarried twice and had come to accept the fact that they may never have any babies.
I highly recommend reading.
