A bad boy pirate! This book had me at hello. I enjoyed reading about these two characters coming together. The character development was lovely, and the plot had a good cadence. I would recommend it.

This is a dramatic, engrossing, suspenseful and exciting story. Drago is tough, stubborn, dedicated and loyal. Eva is caring, determined, brave and insecure. The two start on opposite sides of an issue, and Drago uses Eva for information that helps him. But Drago has a conscious that shows up occasionally, testing his convictions, especially when it comes to Eva and the twins. The storyline progresses from a simple opposites attract to all out war. I love how Drago evolves from a pirate to an entrepreneur and Eva grows from being a scared child to being a brave adult. The book is filled with interesting history and entertaining characters. This is an amazing and captivating series that belongs on your TBR list.

Drago and Eva story made me enjoy this book so much I wondered how come I never read anything by this author before. Not anymore! The book made me wanting to know how their adventure ends, and when I did I felt I loved it, and I craved more. Chloe Flowers - you are on my favorite list now!

Drago is a man drowning in his own dark hell filled with acts he wishes to forget. One glimpse of Eva’s eyes draws him ever so closely to the light from within. But his soul is corrupted and tainted and such goodness he sees dims his chances of being in her presence. What Drago was unaware of is that Eva is in her own personal hell and trying her best to redeem the soul she thought she had lost. An adventurous, exciting and romantic tale where cupid intervenes causing turmoil on their heartstrings.

I received an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first book I've read by Chloe Flowers, but not the first book in the series.
The author has done a lot of research about the history of New Orleans and skillfully brings her story extra depth by including the history and historical figures in the narrative.
While this isn't really the type of book I'd normally read, I enjoyed it nonetheless.
If I get a chance, I'd be interested to see how earlier books in the series compare.

This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Flowers and it is not your typical "Ton" Regency Romance.
Our main characters are a "retired" Italian pirate and a former gutter snipe who is now a novitiate-in-training with healing abilities.
Drago, our hero, needs to steal the very relics that are housed within the church where Eva, our heroine, resides. Having been taken into the church when she was a young girl. after having her face marred by her "protector". We follow the two from Jamaica to New Orleans. While they are working toward different purposes and trying to avoid being caught in the cross hairs of battle they begin to care for each other.
The only negative thing that I can say is that I wish they had given a little more information about Dragos' cousin who is mentioned toward the end of the story. I can only hope that the reason for the omission of detail is that her story will be covered in a later publication.
If you enjoy a book that has it all: mystery, intrigue, action, adventure and a HEA then this is the story for you!
I recommend that you purchase the book to find out more. You will not be disappointed.
Finally, I would like to thank Chloe Flowers, Flowers & Fullerton, LLC and NetGalley for gifting me with a copy of this book for my honest review.

A soon to be nun, who is a healer, helps a pirate with his young charge. Soon they are involved in the Battle of New Orleans testing their trust for each other and a new country called America. Against the odds of reason, they fall in love. Eva will save him from turning to the dark side and bring him into the light. A nice pace to the story.with.lots of action.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I voluntarily read this for an honest review

I really enjoyed this - it was absolutely not your usual historical romance and it was all the better for that. Loved the historical aspect

It was darker than my normal romance fare and I think I enjoyed it more for that

I found the story unpredictable and enjoyed the way it played out

A romance with a bit more substance than the usual

This definitely not your normal Historical romance. Something slightly sadder and darker was rippling in the story and once you finish it you would know. Through out the book I didn’t know how it would end and also slightly thought it could be a sad ending. But all well ends well.
