This is the story of a woman who has passed the age of forty and decided her every day life needs a little spice. The problem is....she really likes her life and it's not spicy at all. An entertaining look at what her "faking it" to become a writer of erotica. Hannah, 44, is a wife, mother of three, teacher and a writer, but not just any writer, she wants different. She soon comes to realize that her life does not give her much experience on the subject of erotica. So, she invents an alter ego for the purpose of research. Twinky is born with all of the attendant problems and curiosity her new found identity might need. If you can imagine any trouble a mid40's woman can find, Twinky finds it!

This is a very entertaining story meant to give readers a vacation from the everyday stress of life. Rebecca Smith has taken a normal, everyday woman who is content with her life but decides she needs to stir things up and given her the freedom to do so. But in the long run, she comes to value what she has...and has a little fun along the way.

This was a quick, fun and easy read! It made me chuckle in places and was a welcome lighthearted distraction.

This book was so fun! This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

This entire book hit the mark for me. It was very hsrd to get through. I didn't feel any sort of connection with any of the characters and the dialog came off very cheesy.
I wont say that it is a bad book, it just fought to keep my attention.
Thank you netgalley for my read!

Such a funny book that had me giggling all the way through! Just the kind of book we need at the moment. Really enjoyed the writing style and characters

A book that's easy to read and very entertaining. I would recommend it if you need a book for in the train/bus or other short traveling.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

I really struggled with this book-it never really caught my attention and held it. Hannah, the mom, feeling restless and underappreciated decides to write an erotic novel. She hides it from her children and there are many moments of panic that they may find out-got a little redundant for me. I felt like a lot of the book was included details that do not further the story along. I wish this book was a little bit more focused on Hannah and her journey.

Whoops - I did not realize that this was a sequel to a book called More Than Mum. Perhaps I would have enjoyed this book more had I read the first book? This book wasn't bad, it was just...fine. I found the story to be a bit tired and I didn't much care about Hannah's "big secrets."

I did not realize when I started reading this that it is a sequel. I felt like I missed information about the characters without having read the previous book. It was also very slow paced and hard to get into. Characters were hard to connect to.

This book was given to me an an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Oh come on! How could you read this book and not giggle here and there and just smile at the book.
This is why I love reading. This book is why I love reading so much because you can just sit back and read and not think! Its been a while since I've enjoyed a book for pure entertainment value. Its one of those books that you can't help but love and laugh at! Hannah is picture perfect mom of three, but it turns out she is working to get her first book published and even better, her first book is an erotic novel! Its one she doesn't want her kids to find out about either.
Get ready for a great fun read that will keep you laughing

Hannah Thompson is your typical wife, mother, and teacher who one day decides to take her chance at writing an erotica novel. It turns out the book is somewhere between humor and erotica, even though she didn't mean for it to be funny. Hannah is now writing her second book in the series, but is struggling to keep up the humor while adding more sex on top of dealing with her everyday life with her children and husband. Hannah begins to search for her inner sex goddess in the hopes that this will help her writing, finding herself along the way.

Overall, this book wasn't bad. I enjoyed that Hannah was relatable and showed that not everyone knows what they are doing in their life or when it comes to sex. It was fun to see her explore things like sexy outfits and S&M parties. Though I liked the book, I didn't feel blown away. I liked the message by the end, but was hoping for more scandalous adventures along the way.

Thank you to Netgalley and Rebecca Smith for an advanced review copy of Faking It. This book was easy going and light hearted. Surprisingly it brought up some poignant questions around sex and how messy it can be in real life and tied them into the mum life seamlessly. Scarlet was quite annoying as a character though which made it difficult not to skim over when reading her interactions with Hannah.

This was a fun read that I ultimately ended up enjoying. The start was a little slow but once I got into it the characters and plot drew me in and kept me reading. The main character, Hannah, publishes an erotic novel but she's nervous about it all because she has teenaged children. She fervently hopes her kids don't find out what kind of book she's published! The book was funny and felt very true to life. I highly recommend this book, 4 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK - One More Chapter for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This one did nothing for me. Another "Mama got her groove back" book where the protagonist manages to be the perfect mom while finding her place in the world. Nothing new here and wildly unrealistic as people are messy messy beings.

What a fun read. It was funny & light hearted. Just what we need right now. It was a quick read. I would love a sequel.

This is the sequel to More Than Just Mum, which I didn't realise until I started reading this book and I became annoyed with the characters and the plot. I went looking through all of the books I had read in the past few years, certain that there had been other stories like it that I ended up not liking. And I was remembering correctly: I did not like the first book in this series, and I did not like this one either.

Hannah is such a doormat of a character, with a useless husband and children who don't respect her and a mother who's constantly undermining her. But she is now a published author, after her husband and best friend sent her erotica manuscript to a publisher in the first book. Except she's so filled with shame about having written erotica, she's desperately trying to keep it a secret from everyone.

Aren't we past the whole "oh, a naughty romance novel, how scandalous!" by now? It's just so depressing to have Hannah's accomplishment buried under layers and layers of shame. And she's so embarrassed even thinking about sex, it's a miracle she has had enough sex to end up with three kids. I am just so over books that perpetuate this idea that women can't be older, mothers AND sexual beings.

Rebecca Smith did a great job with this book. From the second I saw this cover I knew I had to read it. While I did really enjoy the writing & Smith's prose, I never really connected with the heroine Hannah which was the only downside of this novel for me. I am very much looking forward to more work from this author in the future!

I tried desperately to enjoy this, but unfortunately it wasn't for me. It was very slowly paced, and I waited and willed for something to happen in the first half of the book. It picks up a little towards the end, but unfortunately that was too little too late for me.

I also found Hannah to be a rather unlikeable character and couldn't connect to her at all. I would have loved a book where she discovers her sensuality and bring some life into her marriage. Unfortunately this isn't what was in store here.

2 stars
Arc form NetGalley. Hmm, I don't really know what to say about this book. At first, I liked it, but, further I got into it, I found it a little bit repetitive, flat, maybe still a lil boring.
I can't give it more than 2 starts ("it was ok") and I'm sorry, but..

I tried very very hard to like Faking It. The premise seemed original but Hannah's self doubt was so all-consuming and constant from beginning to end that it made me dislike her, The pacing was quite slow and I almost put it on my DNF pile but persevered. I thought there were some funny moments and one liners but overall, it just wasn't for me. It had heart and I know other readers may enjoy it but it was not anything I particularly cared for.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
