Unfortunately, this is nothing special. Some parts are funny, but many of the jokes that are in here, I've already seen done before in the comic form or just as a random tweet floating on the internet. The part which is nicely done are the reoccurring "storylines" and the jokes build on the previous ones. It is not the worst picture book I've ever read, but it is not the best one either.

I feel like I've been in a slump lately with ARCs. While I thank Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this one, it just wasn't my cup of tea. The illustrations were simple but funny. The comics, on the other hand, were nothing special. It was like reading stale jokes on my Facebook timeline. 1 star, sadly.

I was reading this comic on Tapas so when I saw there is an arc I had to read their comics again.
This is full of dark humor, witches, death, doggos.
This isn't for everyone and not all will find this funny. But for all readers out there with a dark sense of humor, this is the book for you.

Sadly, this book wasn't really for me. I did really love the robot, I thought he was adorable! But the bulk of the comics weren't to my personal taste unfortunately.

This didn't really stand out as a fantastic comic book for me, I liked the merge of old and new technology and that every comic strip told a story in four boxes. But overall, its not my sort of humour!

Man, if being famous and writing a comic book is this easy, I could do that. I don’t see what’s special or stands out about this honestly, just generic stuff anyone would’ve made. I mean.

Some of this was super funny and some of it was kinda meh but overall it was enjoyable! I especially liked the use of recurring characters spread out through the comics. Would recommend if you have a darker/drier sense of humor.

War and Peas: Funny Comics for Dirty Lovers is a collection of webcomics produced by Jonathan Kunz and Elizabeth Pich. Originally published on their webcomic War and Peas, this collection, due out 3rd March 2020 is 160 pages and will be available in paperback format.

The art is deceptively simple. The single page comics are in 4 panel format, with many recurring characters (Death shows up quite often, for example). The humor is ever so slightly off-kilter and is surreal with elements of magical realism, nerd culture, absurdism, and irony. About half of them elicited a smile or giggle from me.

This would be a good selection for current fans of the authors' work online, or for fans of webcomic style 4 panel art in general. It's a very fast read with appealing quirky art with a modern (somewhat nihilist) aesthetic.

Three and a half stars.
