This series is just so awesome!
Starting from the Mayflower on up until this novel has been a wonderful journey indeed. I try not to miss a one.
I loved imagining myself on the trail with cattle, horses, cowboys and oh so much more!
Wonderful characters with a great plot this author will pull you into Wyatt and Eliza's story and before you know it you're at the end of the book. I was sad when I closed this book because I hate saying goodbye to good friends. But hey, at least we can visit them from time to time cant' we?
To make this story even more exciting the author adds just the right amount of mystery along with some bit of romance as well.
There are some shady characters that you probably will not like. But to me, it takes all kinds to make a story.
I like this story so much! Made me think of watching a Tv Western with John Wayne.
Wyatt is A ok in my book. I wouldn't mind having a Wyatt along in my life either.

Love this book....couldn't put it down. Haven't read the series but this can be read as a standalone also.
Eliza and Wyatt are two childhood friends who get eachother in trouble. Till they go on the Chisholm Trail and both their lives are changed forever. Fast foreward some years Eliza is old enough to settle down and marry. She chooses a man...wrong choice in her fathers eyes and she's sent to see her mothers family for some time away to think about her husband choice. While she's with her family her father has security to watch her & her mother while in the city. Long and behold one of Eliza's security seems oddly familiar but she doesn't know why. Eventually their working together to get Eliza out of a mess that she didn't cause. Read to find out what happens...It won't disappoint!!!!

A fabulous historic story. This author writes such a delightful tale that takes historic facts and weaves a story that pulls me in. From the first trail ride to the last there is a tale of love, family and decent. I was completely thrilled with the story, characters and the ending.

Eliza and Wyatt,the Chisholm Trail,horses and cattle,guns,and family! This is what you will read about in this series of books. It's a great book,I have not read the entire series but after this,I still start from the beginning,but you can read this without going Al the way back. What a excellent story,and writer to lead you down the Chisholm Trail and you really feel like you are doing the cattle drive! Received this from Net Gallery and I'm so glad I was given the chance to do so! You really feel the emotions of this story where you will get to know each and every character in this story. This to me,is hard to do and you will not forget who is who! Read this story and travel down the Chisholm Trail like the real cowboys and don't forget the cow girls, who can also be a "lady" did way back when they were trying to settle the West in 1880!! That way of life was about to change for the better or not,but things change to live a much better life!

While the story started a little slow (imho), it picked up quickly, and soon I couldn't put it down. Several times throughout, I found myself thinking, "This would make a great movie!" It has a little of everything one looks for in a novel: love, hate, mystery, action, jealousy, greed, faith and hope.

I've read most (if not all) in this series, and did someone say that it was going to end? That would make me sad, as I've really enjoyed every one and have been extremely impressed with the research that has gone into each. The Chisholm Trail Bride was no exception.

As the 12th installment of the “daughters of the Mayflower” series, the Chisholm Trail Bride is an excellent addition to a phenomenal series.

The story of Wyatt and Eliza was one of the most interesting storylines that I’ve read in awhile. It kept me captivated the whole story long, just waiting to see what would happen next. My only disappointment is that I felt the characters were not as developed as I had hoped. I felt that even though the story was wonderful, the lack of character depth was a little disappointing.

The relationship between Wyatt and Eliza was excellent, as was the villainous Ben. All in all, this was a great Christian Historical Romance, but just lacked a little of the depth that I had come to love from some of the other books in the series.

I have loved this series and this addition to it did not let me down. I have looked forward to the history, adventure and romance these books have provided to escape in.
Eliza has two older brothers and what they do she is sure to follow. To her mothers’ chagrin, she accepts unladylike dares from her brothers’ friend and neighbor Wyatt Creed. When the time comes for Eliza to experience her last cattle drive, she puts up a fight to go along. Wyatt and his father are going along as well as another one of her brother’s friends Ben Bernhart. Trouble brews however when Wyatt’s father is murdered. With no witnesses and two young men’s opposing stories, Eliza’s father makes a point to distance himself from the two men.
Grown and eligible for marriage, Eliza thinks she has found love. The past has a hard time staying in the past however and the cattle drive once tried to be forgotten comes between Eliza and her future.
This was a well-written adventure and romance. It was suspenseful but easy to follow and hard to put down.

I’ve read every installment of the Mayflower Brides series and each story builds on the strength of its predecessor. The Chisholm Trail Bride felt different. It was exciting. It was unpredictable. It made me tear up within the first three chapters. This 12th book of the series is so strong, I can only imagine how wonderful book 13 will be.

The Chisholm Trail Bride by Kathleen Y'Barbo is book number twelve in the Daughters of the Mayflower series and it is a keeper!

With a strong cast of characters that were well fleshed out, I lost track of the time reading it. I have read all of the books in this series and I think this one is my favourite. While the story had a grim, but intriguing plot, there was still plenty of humour, faith-filled elements and of course romance.

​I loved Eliza, hated Ben Barnhart (I just wanted to punch him in the face) and adored Wyatt who loved Eliza. Wyatt's devotion to Eliza reminded me of God's love for us. Wyatt loved Eliza from afar, intervened when she needed help and basically kept his distance until she was ready for the truth. God's like that too.

You will love the opening lines (word of warning, you will be hard-pressed to not sing them). And as always with this series, you do not have to read the other books as it can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend it!

And now for another installment in the never-ending series!

I actually quite like Kathleen Y'Barbo's writing. It was her book The Pirate Bride that first got me roped into this series, so in a way I blame her (kidding, kinda), so it's a good thing that I've mostly enjoyed her books. While I did like The Pirate Bride more, I liked this one better than The Alamo Bride. I also like that the characters in all the books she writes are descendants of previous books, while also being able to be standalones.

I think there were moments of this book that were 4 star worthy, and I felt like it was a good story and I enjoyed it. But overall I think it was mostly just ok. Several plot developments were entirely too convenient to be realistic, especially the resolution to the main problem, which was very abrupt and anticlimactic despite being a huge part of the storyline the entire book. It kinda just disappears in the background.

That being said, I did like the overall romance and the reasons the two characters were kept apart. I liked seeing them as children and then jumping ahead about 10 years and seeing those comparisons. I also really liked the way it ended.

If I have one more small complaint it's that other books in this series have been based during a major historical event, the Revolutionary War, the Battle of the Alamo, the Civil War, or the Children's Blizzard, to name a few. This just kinda took place around the time that people were traveling on the Chisholm Trail, and the actual trail itself played a very small part in the story. I guess I just felt like it deviated from the typical pattern and would have liked a little more historical context.

That being said, I definitely liked this one more than previous installments in the series, and I'm curious to see the next one NetGalley will inevitably deliver to me in the next few months.

An adventurous cattle drive, some romance, and a battle for the truth. A few unexpected twists and rich historical details were woven into the plot along with the large dynamic family that made this story come alive. This is another fun loving and inspirational read in this series.

The Chisholm Trail Bride is the twelfth book in the Daughters of the Mayflower series and the third written by Kathleen Y'Barbo. Each book can be read as a stand alone. If you haven't read any of the books in this series, I totally recommend reading any written by Kathleen Y'Barbo. She is one of the best authors of the series. Her stories are fast paced, entertaining and full of lovable characters. I read this book in less than 24 hours, I just didn't want to put it down! The majority of this story takes place away from the Chisholm trail so if you were thinking, by the title, you were going to be tagging along on a long dusty cattle drive you are in for a delightful surprise. Secondary character, Justine, reminded me of my younger self with all of her dressing up and eavesdropping...needless to say I loved her! This book was a clean Christian themed romance that was a joy to read.

As I’ve enjoyed other novels in the “Daughters of the Mayflower” series, I didn’t hesitate to jump at reading Kathleen Y’Barbo’s “The Chisholm Trail Bride”.

This story was such a good story and the characters had me drawn in from the first page to the end. It was well-written and historically descriptive with the places and scenes that projected much excitement. Eliza Gentry was a relatable character and it was not easy to love her, her family and friends. The romance between Eliza and Wyatt Creed was nicely developed and you can see that both characters had strong personalities and convictions. There is quite a bit of surprises, twists and turns but it made the story interesting and draws the ready to wanting to know the end and if there will be a HEA for the H/h.

As with the other stories in the “Daughters of the Mayflower” series, this one did not fail as a very nice historical Christian romance novel. Having read another of Ms. Y’Barbo’s novels in this series, I find the author a very good writer and enjoy reading her books. Totally recommend this read and others in this series.

This series has had some outstanding additions and this one is just so good. I've long been a fan of Kathleen Y'Barbo and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. The characters were well fleshed out and the plot was very believable, as was the history. I really recommend this one.

This was such a great story, I hated for it to end. The characters were well formed and kept me engrossed in the pages of the story. This book had so much to love from the cattle trail, to the danger and excitement that was within every page. I felt so many emotions while reading this book, sadness, hopelessness, all the way to explicable joy! I felt as if I was living the story out through Eliza. Eliza found it so easy to love family, friends and her love of the outdoors, often making wrong choices because of it. The author does an amazing job of keeping the story flowing with danger, secrets and of course love. There were times I found myself on the edge of my seat, I felt as if I would burst! This is definitely a book you want to give yourself time alone with, believe me you wont want to be interrupted. Days later and this story is still holding my thoughts, I feel as if I’m missing out on the life of Eliza Gentry!

The synopsis of this book is very inaccurate. Despite that, I really enjoyed the story. Wyatt Creed is not a Pinkerton man. He is 14 and on a cattle drive with his friend, 12-year-old Eliza Jane Gentry and her father (the boss) and a brat of a boy named Benjamin Barnhart. Things with Wyatt’s angry drunk of a father get out of hand, and the 2 boys end up in an altercation that changes their lives forever. Eliza grows up thinking that Wyatt was killed that night on the cattle drive and years later thinks she is falling for Ben whose political ambitions have him doing whatever it takes to succeed. Eliza is stubborn, just like her dad and they butt heads often. Eventually, she learns a whole lot of truth, but not before getting into a whole lot of trouble. Wyatt has made a new life for himself as a well-respected detective with his own agency, but he’s never forgotten the little girl who was his dear friend.

The twelfth book in this series finds the bride to be in Texas. I loved reading about the trail ride and the historical references. The astronomy part was unexpected as I had never thought about a young girl's interested in the stars during that time period. The mystery of the second person's death was obvious to me but liked the way the author dealt with it. John Brady wss my favorite and of course Ben was the perfect villain,with just enough mystery to keep readers wondering what he was up to. Recommended!

Beautiful story. This is the first Kathleen Y'Barbo book I've tread but it will NOT be the last. I loved the descriptive scenery and how Kathleen transports is back into the 1800's. Eliza and Wyatt were both strong characters who immediately grab you and make you hope for their happily ever after. This story was very well written with powerful word choices and descriptive language. WONDERFUL!

The Chisholm Trail Bride by Kathleen Y’Barbo is full of intrigue, history and romance. The story begins in April 1880, it begins along the Chisholm Trail during a cattle drive. Eliza is 12 years old and is along with her father to help the cook. She also loves to go on the drive to watch the stars at night with her friend Wyatt Creed. Everything changes when Wyatt’s father is murdered and he is one of the suspects along with Ben Barnhart, the son of a prominent judge. How long will it take for the truth to come out?
I enjoyed this book very much. It is part of the Daughters of the Mayflower series though certainly a standalone story. The characters are so well developed and come to life on the page. There are a lot of surprising twists and turns throughout the story. It is a nice length and all the loose ends are wrapped up at the end; you won’t be left hanging. The only time I had a problem was when someone named Abigail appeared and I had to go back and read and decided she was actually Adelaide from earlier and at one time Wyatt is called Wyatt Gentry. I give this book 5 of 5 stars and recommend it to everyone.
