Great story that kept me reading until the end! I've read several stories in this series of books "the Daughters of the Mayflower" and I have enjoyed each one. This particular book involves a couple that grew up together, but were separated as youths, one believed to be dead. As they get to know one another again, she recognizes some things about him, but she can't quite place why he seems familiar, since she believes him to be dead long ago. Eventually she learns the truth and she is more than happy to have her old childhood friend back. Wonderfully told story I will enjoy again and again!

This was a beautiful story of childhood love. Eliza and Wyatt were best friends, always getting into trouble together and enjoyed star gazing. They go on one Chisholm Trail ride together as children. Also present is Ben, the spoiled son of a Judge. He sets his sights on Eliza, even though she is far too young to marry. When a murder occurs during that trail ride, with only Wyatt and Ben as witnesses and suspects, they each say the other committed the crime. Justice is served swiftly and Eliza mourns losing her best friend, Wyatt, for many years.
Fast forward to nine years later...Ben still has plans to marry Eliza and make a name for himself in the government and nothing will stand in his way. Eliza's father forbids it because he knows what happened on that trail ride so long ago. Will Ben succeed in his quest or does God have other plans for Eliza?
I really enjoyed this book as it had a bit of a different storyline than most historical love stories. I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing through NetGalley. All opinions in this review are my own.

This was a very good read but not one of my favorites in the series but I think it’s because I’m not as interested in this time period. Still, this series as a whole, including this book, is overall one of the most enjoyable series I’ve read in the Christian historical fiction genre.

That being said, characters, storyline, lovely message - all of these were wonderful.

As always, I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Another great addition to the Daughters of the Mayflower series, this one is less of the sweet romance style and more of the action-adventure / mystery style....and I loved it! One night changes everything for the three main characters. Their pasts haunt them and continue to define how they cope with that night, and how the world sees them, until one of them decides that it will no longer hold him down. It takes the entire book to unravel the misdirects, half-truths, and outright lies...but our heroes come out on top. Beautiful history and imagery of the Chisholm Trail is included, but setting takes more of a backseat than most of the stories in this series. Can't wait to see where their descendants head next!

This was an amazing book that was hard to put down. It was full of action and intrigue that kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were unforgettable and well developed. Eliza was a strong independent woman that went against her parents' wishes and became engaged to a man that her father did not approve. Her father wanted her away from her fiance and had provided security to see that he stayed away. John Brady is the head of Eliza's security. He is a loyal man with a mysterious background. Eliza is pulled into a situation that puts her and her family in danger. The plot twists and secrets come unveiled. Eliza and her security guard must find a way through the dangers. Only with God's help are they able to overcome the dangers they find themselves in. This book was filled with dangers, action, and intrigue. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves historical fiction with romance, action and suspense.

The Daughters of the Mayflower is one of, if not the best series I have read. The biggest problem I had was waiting for the next book to come out. Fans of Christian historical romance will not be disappointed with Kathleen Y'Barbo's novel. I love this authors voice. She writes such strong enjoyable characters. Ones you want as a best friend or neighbor. We meet Eliza Gentry at the young age of 12 as she is going on a life changing cattle drive with her father, brothers and their cowboys along the infamous Chisholm Trail. The next time we meet up with her is nine years later. All grown up and at a marriageable age. I would highly recommend this highly enjoyable story. Beautiful story. This is the first Kathleen Y'Barbo book I've tread but it will NOT be the last. I loved the descriptive scenery and how Kathleen transports is back into the 1800's. Eliza and Wyatt were both strong characters who immediately grab you and make you hope for their happily ever after. This story was very well written with powerful word choices and descriptive language. WONDERFUL!

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and am freely giving as honest review.

This was such a great story, I hated for it to end. The characters were well formed and kept me engrossed in the pages of the story. This book had so much to love from the cattle trail, to the danger and excitement that was within every page. I felt so many emotions while reading this book, sadness, hopelessness, all the way to explicable joy! I felt as if I was living the story out through Eliza. Eliza found it so easy to love family, friends and her love of the outdoors, often making wrong choices because of it. The author does an amazing job of keeping the story flowing with danger, secrets and of course love. There were times I found myself on the edge of my seat, I felt as if I would burst! This is definitely a book you want to give yourself time alone with, believe me you wont want to be interrupted. Days later and this story is still holding my thoughts, I feel as if I’m missing out on the life of Eliza Gentry!

The Chisholm Trail Bride by Kathleen Y'Barbo is book number twelve in the Daughters of the Mayflower series and it is a keeper!

With a strong cast of characters that were well fleshed out, I lost track of the time reading it. I have read all of the books in this series and I think this one is my favourite. While the story had a grim, but intriguing plot, there was still plenty of humour, faith-filled elements and of course romance.

I loved Eliza, hated Ben Barnhart (I just wanted to punch him in the face) and adored Wyatt who loved Eliza. Wyatt's devotion to Eliza reminded me of God's love for us. Wyatt loved Eliza from afar, intervened when she needed help and basically kept his distance until she was ready for the truth. God's like that too.

You will love the opening lines (word of warning, you will be hard-pressed to not sing them). And as always with this series, you do not have to read the other books as it can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend it!

This was an action packed and intriguing historical romance! It truly kept me engaged!
I have to say I had a little struggle to relate to the heroine during the first part of the story, but she did some maturing along the way, and the hero just made up for her shortcomings with his heart of gold, honor and total devotion to her, that I kept rooting for this couple to find their Happily Ever After until the end! And it was quite satisfying!
Eliza Gentry and Wyatt Creed had been best friends during childhood in her father’s ranch in Texas until a tragedy at an unfortunate cattle drive sends Wyatt away. Now, ten years later, Eliza is very heard strong, and rebels against her family and wants to elope with Ben, the son of her father’s enemy. That’s how it ends in her father sending her off with the cattle drive heading to Forth Worth and the Barnhart ranch, under the protection of Wyatt, now a Pinkerton Agent.
This cattle drive seems the least convenient place to fall in love, with danger and death lurking at every turn at the hands of cattle thieves, but Wyatt can’t help his heart that has always belonged to Eliza. Can Eliza forgive his mistakes in the past? Can Wyatt protect her and, more important, will they both survive their adventure to have a chance at true love?
I was totally engaged with the story, that was fast paced and full of action. The villain, Ben, was truly awful and that made it more exciting and dangerous.
Wyatt was a true hero and I loved how he melts Eliza’s defenses with his actions, more than his words. The romance was really sweet and tender in spite of the action and danger amidst.
I enjoyed this story and recommend it to all historical romance lovers! It has a mix of everything: adventure, drama, a bit of humor, intrigue, and the sweetest romance!

I love everything that this author writes. I always try to make sure that I read her new releases. This is another wonderful book in the Daughter of Mayflower series. I have not read all of them - but they all can be read as a standalone.
Eliza wants to go on the cattle drive - however, her life changes in just an instant. Her best friend and partner in crime, Wyatt is along with his family - and an accident changes the course of their lives. His arch nemisis, Ben, has a huge interest in Eliza - and states that he will marry her someday -- Eliza does not want that

This book then picks up 10 years later. It's fun to see them down the road.
Heartwarming romance and a clean read.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley - all thoughts are my own.

I was so happy to read this series, The Daughters of the Mayflower series.
Sadly this is the last book in the series and I've read every one of them.
I have had so much fun reading and learning about different times in history. All stories though fictional are based on events happening in history and the back of each book gives us a summary of the events the book is based on.
I loved the plot of each book and how easy it was to follow along and the characters you really feel as though you are listening to a private conversation with them.
The books are not romance heavy and concentrate more on the historical aspect which I enjoyed a lot.
I can always count on clean, sweet, inspirational books which is just what I enjoy reading.

I loved this series idea Barbour Books came up with and look forward to more series such as this.

Satisfying Western story about Eliza who grew up in a wealthy Ranch, going on a cattle drive with her father, brothers and two of her friends. The boys get into a fight that changes all their lives. Interesting tale of Texas prestigious families and their lives. A wild and spoiled girl who grows up, learning lessons as she goes. Mix in a murder mystery, kidnapping and betrayal. Great read!
