The friendship that will form seems exciting to read about! I love amazing friendships in books so this is a good one to add to your list!

I am so glad this book was available for preview! The first chapters had me hooked and of course I went and purchased a copy so I could read the whole thing! I love the strong female friendships in this book and I'm really hoping that we get books for both Taylor and London too! I loved the fast opening of the book which made it a no brainier to purchase!

This is read for sure. It was a slow burn romance and the plot of the book was more front and center than the romance element in my opinion.

Things I loved. The fact that the lead dude was undercover which gave an element of mystery to this romance. The fact that Samiah was a strong Black woman in STEM. The friendship she developed with London and Taylor.

Things that I wish were different. More details on the crime Daniel was working on. I wish that the backstabbing coworker of hers would got a bigger dressing down. Also, it hit me in the feels how Samiah had a hard time accepting help and her need to control everything. I’ve been like that for far too long and it led to me picking Surrender for my word of the year.

From what I could gather from the extended preview, The Boyfriend Project is a romantic comedy with both romantic and platonic friendship love. Samiah Brooks has been very successful in her professional life and at achieving the majority of her goals, except her romantic ones. The extended preview is basically the set-up for the book. The book starts with a very convoluted friendship meet-cute where through a live tweet Samiah learns the man she has been dating was actually dating other women as well. The story then turns to work where she meets Daniel, a mysterious new hire.

This was ok, something I might pick up if I came across it for cheap, nothing I would recommend though. I enjoyed the platonic meet-cute and the discussions around romantic love being valued as an achievement over professional achievements. The preview read fast and was engaging.

The book had too many ideas going on, and plot seemed to jerk back and forth (cheating, and is Daniel a secret agent?). There was a lot of unnecessary detail, I really don't care what the office looks like and there was a lot of time describing each new room Samiah walks into. There was some ridiculous writing "she was due for a few promotions in the near future," does the writer know how jobs work? Also for a book that is about how professional achievement is important I have no idea what Samiah really does. The plot was not in the least bit believable.

Through the extended preview I could tell that is novel was light and fun. It gave a funny introduction into the main character, Samiah's life, with her two timing boyfriend being busted. I loved that the three women bonded over the fact that 1 man had being trying to play them all. It was a strong feminist moment to me. I hate when I read( or sadly see in real life) about women hating, bashing, and tearing down another woman who was also dating the same person, instead of directing the blame and hate on to the person who deserves it. So that was refreshing to read! I can tell from the few short chapters I read that I will definitely being buying so I can finish this smart, fun book!

If you're looking for some long angst, low conflict stories with characters that stay with you even after you're done reading the book, I highly recommend The Boyfriend Project by @farrahrochon

I've covered another book of Farrah's before and her books never failed to make me happy.♥️

I've definitely seen this book cover everywhere on bookstagram, so when is saw there was a preview i knew i had to read it right away! I’ve been in a huge romance phase so i was super excited!

Pros:
+I couldn’t put the preview down it was entertaining for sure!
+i already love how diverse the cast of characters is! all three of the ladies seem amazing and i love the main guy character
+love the dual perspective but I wish I got to see more of Daniel
+love how the main character works in a STEM field and has a list of things to be successful. She seems to have a lot of potential to be "strong" and "independent" but also "girly" and "romantic" which I think isn't represented in books enough.
Cons:
-the writing seems like it’s trying just a little too hard to be “hip” and “trendy”
-the plot is a little cliché but it’s forgivable since it’s entertaining
-a little fast-paced. maybe I’m too much of an introvert but the friendship was too “insta-friendship” for my liking
-some girl on girl hate?? which is my least favorite trope. just let women support each other. it’s also super weird because it’s acknowledged in the book but it doesn’t have to exist in the first place? it’s easy to just not write it in

Overall I’d definitely read the rest of the book! I want to see how the relationship develops between Samiah and Daniel and where the plot goes.

I'm hooked after reading this preview. I love any situation where women in a "love triangle" (or... rhombus? in this case?) band together rather than tear each other down; after all, they haven't wronged one another but they can help each other make things right. After reading the preview I'm excited to read the whole book! Thank you to the publisher for this preview.

While it seemed to get off to a bit of a bumpy start, I love it when brands I use are mentioned in books but find it a bit jarring when done to the point of knowing the shade of foundation used right out the gate, I feel that is it safe to say that I will be finishing this book. After all, I'm really curious about the midmorning snack in khakis and loafers and his deal with dossiers and memorizing specific information about his new coworkers.

The sample alone was enough for me to pick up the full length novel. Can't wait to review this one on an upcoming podcast episode.

I was already interested in the book, but this extended preview sealed my interest. I adored how quickly the premise was established and how FUN the was the trio of catfished and triple-timed women became friends. I also adored how there wasn't even a whisper of jealousy or pettiness there...just pure jubilant hatred of toxic men. I'm not sure about the rest of the plot with Samiah's co-worker, but I'll trust Rochon considering how freaking thrilling those opening chapters were.

• The boyfriend project
The book started with a good pace. A very fun, quirky and interesting point to read about our main character. How guys mess up and how society fuck up our thinking of feeling content.
The book even gripped me into it till 3rd chapter.
But pretty soon the book started getting very boring and slow paced. It felt like only the 1st 3 chapters were supposed to get you hooked enough to dread through the other chapters
The book obviously had a pretty good plot thought and even very strong and stable characters. Stable in their own way. Fun in their own nature. But it felt like I can just skip some chapters and still not miss the gist or any specific detail to the end of it.

• Character development- 3☆
• Story Plot- 3☆
• Side characters- 2.5☆
• Flow of the story- 2☆
So overall- 2.5☆

The preview didn't draw me into the book as there was limited interaction between the two main characters- they meet briefly before it is cut off. The set up was well written but I'm not sold on buying the rest due to that, plus confusion (not intrigue) at the male character's backstory.

I just read the preview for this and I’m off to buy the book now! A strong character with a storyline that draws you in immediately. Looking forward to the rest of this great read.

I loved the beginning where the girls find out they are being cheated on and went to confront him. I only read this preview chapter, but I will be looking to read the book sometime soon.

The Boyfriend Project starts with a woman, Samiah, finding out her boyfriend, Craig, is on a date with another woman and tweeting all of his lies. Samiah and another woman both show up to the date to confront Craig. The three women bond over their experiences with Craig and agrees to catch up for drinks later.

This preview was cute and funny. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

I enjoyed this preview enough to purchase the book when it released, and the fun has continued into the full story (or as much as I've read so far). In this Extended Preview, we get captivating modern love-life drama as it unfolds almost theatrically, extremely relatable talk about office life, an adorable meet-cute followed by charming interactions between the love interests, and an exciting future of adventures for these once-scorned, now-internet-famous, always super-empowered women! I'm actually most looking forward to seeing more of the group of women. They give me serious John Tucker Must Die vibes.

Things I didn't enjoy as much: 1) I found the amount of descriptive details in the opening scenes unnecessary, to the point of it being distracting from what was actually happening in the story. 2) It always makes me uncomfortable when books start by wysing the person the main character is already dating, but in this case it proved to be damn right. 3) I found it weird and frustrating that at the end of this extended preview, you still have no idea about the app Samiah wants to make. 4) Also weird: there's a 'Daniel is probably some sort of... spy..? ..undercover cop..?' situation that isn't properly introduced yet, so I'm not sure if it's intriguing or off-putting / untrustworthy of him. And that's where the preview ends... But it's done its job and hooked me enough to purchase, so we'll find out soon enough!

This book is the perfect summer read! I loved the that the way the whole swear off men only to have the perfect one fall in your lap didn’t feel forced! The characters were lovable and there were so many swoon worthy moments! This book hooked me and left me wanting more, not because it didn’t have a beautiful ending just because I loved the characters so much! This book is a must read for 2020!

Netgalley has offered an extended preview of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Three women who have never met bond when discovering a man is trying to date all of them at the same time. One of my favorite things about this preview are the personalities of each women. I love reading about strong female characters, and the first few chapters have this in spades. There is also the introduction of a secretive new co worker to our protagonist Samiah’s company. Not much has come out about him in the preview, but enough to make me curious as to what exactly will be going on with his role in the book.

The premise thus far seems unique and the addition of this mysterious co-worker has definitely peaked my interest, so I would say I’ll be looking for this book when it come out.
