This book was cute. The art was fun. It wasn't overly original, but it was cute and fun. Jill is a great character.

The story and artwork are cute, and convey the energy and rambunctiousness some children have very well. The King and Queen try different methods to get Princess Jill to calm down, but nothing works. When an upcoming visit from neighboring royals is announced, they worry that they won't be able to get Jill to sit still long enough to meet them, but fortunately they bring their son, Prince Pablo, is very like Princess Jill (they both end up swinging from the chandeliers), and they get along well. There's a bit of a message of letting energetic kids be energetic and not try to tame them, and while I mostly approve of letting kids be who they are, sometimes there needs to be compromise- that lesson should've been in the story too, I think. Also, the end is very abrupt- are we to take it that it's okay for her to behave without regard to others as long as someone equal to her does it too? I give this book 3.5 stars, but I always round up, so 4, and that's because the art is fun.

This was a very cute book! The girls I read it to loved it and wanted to hear it quite a few times! This book is definitely one that I will buy for gifts for kids I watch. Wonderful book!

Unfortunately, this book just didn't do it for me. As a teacher with many students diagnosed with ADHD, I think it's sending out the wrong message. Although Jill's parents do eventually accept her at the end of the book, the majority is spent trying to "fix" her problem. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would feel for a child to listen to this book while struggling to focus in a class setting. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

This was a cute story, and I liked how it ended, but it also frustrated me a bit. Kids are energetic! It's what they do, which can be very annoying, but it didn't seem like her parents actually did end up accepting her, but just giving up I guess. Not my favorite.

Unbound Busy-ness

I review a fair amount of children's books, and I absolutely love the joy expressed in this particular book. Princess Jill, indeed, never sits still—as everyone in the household who has to deal with her tells the king and queen. The royal parents gather wise men, witches, and Sorcerers, trying to help “cure” Jill of her busy-ness. But nothing helps, and the illustrations showing Princess Jill's face reveal her utter joy in all of her zany activities. As I read it, I couldn't help but smile. The illustrations are simple but work well, showing Jill’s can't-be-stopped nature. Definitely make sure that both you and the child you are reading it to look at all the pictures, especially the ones that have Jill in them, as sometimes she is doing silly things not specifically mentioned in the text. I did think, though, that the book stopped abruptly. It brought us just to the point where Princess Jill meets a prince who made very well be her perfect ally. I would have loved to have seen some scenes of them together as they strengthen their friendship. I also thought it was odd that the king and queen of the other land would dress their son as a court jester. Sure, he may be busy like Princess Jill, but that doesn't make him a court jester! This book is simply pure fun, and if your child has an active nature, she or he may very well identify with either (or both) Princess Jill and Prince Pablo.

The illustrations in this book were so fun, simplistic and vivid all in one! The story shares a struggle many parents face when their vision of a perfect little family doesn’t wind up matching with reality: They struggle to find a solution. In the end it’s best to embrace the uniqueness of each person and celebrate them for who they are!

This is a cute book about a princess that won't sit still. The king and queen are worried that she may never be still so they try different ways of making her sit still. The illustrations are good as well.

This feels like one of those picture books more for the adult reader than the child listener. The message seems aimed more at the adults, centered as it is on the king and queen learning to accept Jill.

Princess Jill Never Sits Still is a story about an energetic princess. Before Princess Jill was born, the castle was quiet, but when she came along, the castle was filled with sound. Everyone in the castle tells the King and Queen that the Princess doesn’t sit still, and the King and Queen ask for help because they don’t know what to do. Then one day, the King and Queen from Farawaylandia come to visit, and Princess Jill’s parents learn to look at her in a new way.

I thought that this book was cute, but I thought that it was missing something. I’m not entirely sure what the message of this book was supposed to be, but it might have been that there’s nothing wrong with letting kids run around and be energetic. I also think that this book could have been a couple of pages longer, to show more of Princess Jill and Prince Pablo and their shenanigans.

I liked the simple illustrations in this book, and I especially liked the crayon-line line that showed Princess Jill in motion. I liked some of the random details, like the exasperated expressions on the King and Queen’s face. I also liked that only parts of the illustrations were coloured in, bringing attention to certain things that were going on.

Overall, this was a cute book. I think it would be a fun story to read to any kids who are full of energy.

I honestly loved the art style and the way the princess’ movements were illustrated on the page—I want to read more books from the illustrator—but I found the story too short for its point to be clear. It ended rather suddenly, before anything had actually been resolved. Understanding that it’s not a bad thing for children to function differently is good, but being an acrobat or naturally energetic doesn’t give a child permission to do whatever they want. It’s a fun story, the presumed moral just didn’t settle well.

Not your typical princess. Great way to look at atypical characters and looking for the positive aspects in people. Illustrations were amazing

The illustrations in this book are so fun! Great perspective on high energy children. My preschooler enjoyed the story and the rhyming aspects.

A wonderful tale of seeing our children's energy in a new light, their desire to express their gifts on full display if we'd only see it! The funny view is that this is a book for the parent as well as the child, ha!

Art in a Dr. Seuss-ish style, text count low per page, about 20 pages, a sweet short jaunt in another royal world. Recommended for storytime to our youngest little ones.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Myrick Marketing & Media publishing for an ARC for review. Honest opinion given.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title.

The illustrations are so much fun! And I know many parents will relate to a child who has a lot of energy and enjoy sharing it with their children.

I pretty much adore the energetic antics of princess Jill, born to the king and queen who reside in a stuffy old palace. The premise of this story makes me wonder what it was like when Theodore Roosevelt moved his family and all those pets into the White House. I bet there was a lot of worry AND joy.

When the newborn princess Jill is introduced to a joyous, unnamed kingdom, it’s all cheers and happiness. Very soon, the king and queen discover that their little princess can’t be tamed. Rather she is constantly bounding and twirling around throne room, the kitchens and the gardens, to the great dismay of the staff.

This lovely picture book displays tiny Jill’s paths denoted and marked in a heavy red line over amusing illustrations. What to do? Well, the royals consult various experts of the land—witches, warlocks, wise men who all make the same diagnosis. Princess Jill can’t be still!

The “experts” proceed to prescribe a series of ineffective treatments. What finally solves the dilemma is the introduction of another little royal from a different kingdom. Enter just as rambunctious, Pablo, who is perpetually bouncing up to the chandeliers, just like Jill.

But, WAIT! The story of Jill abruptly ends there, leaving readers wondering how they dealt with two overactive children. I guess it’s how we all dealt with our own children.

No message here, just a fun read.

Picture book. 3-7

My kindle edition was out of order, but I was still easily able to put the story together after reading the pages. Let me just say that this story is fantastic. This book is perfect for kids and adults- kids can see that they are just like other kids, and some adults just need to learn that kids aren't meant to sit still.

Adorable illustrations. Children are often told to "sit still," with the connotation of not being able to do so as being negative. This was a fresh take on children with extra energy and viewing it in a positive light instead of as being punitive.

Princess Jill is full of energy and never stays in one place for long. This is an issue as she moves through the kingdom and creates havoc for others to fix. The King and Queen don't know how to solve or curtail her energy. They are visited by another royal family from Farawaylandia and discover they are not alone - only the visiting King and Queen recognize Jill's talents and celebrate them as they are the similar to their son's talents.
A high energy tale that flips the sedate princess waiting for someone else to provide the action and offers equal time to both genders connecting as they are.
Looking forward to sharing this with younger readers who will identify with the energy levels.

Absolutely loved this story book. It reflects upon how restless children are and why it isn't really a bad thing. Everything is new for them and they are enjoying learning. I would give 4 stars to the illustrations and 5 stars to the story. There is repetition in the story which makes it easier for the young readers too.
The kindle version doesn't work properly hence I couldn't read it to my 7 year old. But otherwise an interesting quick read !
