100 COOKIES by Sarah Kieffer is a wonderful cookbook which anyone would be happy to own and consult. Kieffer subtitled her collection "The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More" and it really delivers with beautiful pictures (a must for me with cookbooks!), simple, straightforward directions and recipes for beginner to professional. The only element which I wish was included is nutritional information (although this is all about cookies, after all). Clearly, there are many favorites (chocolate chip or shortbread) and innovations (like Lavender Cookies) from which to choose! 100 COOKIES is nominated for the GoodReads Choice Awards this year (winner announcements December 8) which is great to see since those cookbooks are often designed for more accomplished and sophisticated chefs. A fabulous family present to keep everyone baking together!

Just in time for any type of cookie exchange you might be dreaming of attending or school event and are in need of simple and complex alternatives to the classics and beyond here is your tome. I loved her writing style , her choice of cookies and her layout. It was easy to follow and of the three samples I baked all turned out as promised, buttery, beautiful. A Christmas gift.

This is a beautiful book, both in its recipe content and the gorgeous pictures in there. I loved the conversational tone of the author - it wasn't preachy or like it was talking down to you (which I've unfortunately found in cookbooks/recipe books) and it really felt like Ms. Kieffer could probably fill in for your BFF holding your hand when guiding you to make cookies. The recipes themselves are not rocket science and even a kitchen novice could understand them, and the sheer variety of them not to mention all the variations you can make and which the author points out in the recipes. A real well-rounded book, possibly even a cookie bible!

We made two different types of chocolate chip cookies: Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and Thin and Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies. My personal favorite was the thin and crispy. I liked the taste better than the brown butter cookies. We also got many more cookies out of the batch. However, I much preferred the baking time for the Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies - 8 minutes for soft cookies and 10 for more crispy cookies. Essentially the Brown Butter Cookies came together more quickly than the Thin and Crispy cookies.

I've very much enjoyed looking through the recipes in this book and I'm looking forward to making more on the cold winter days ahead.

I LOVE cookies. Cookies are kind of my thing, especially at Christmas. So I was very very excited to get the ARC for this recipe book.

It was just what I hoped for. Full of beautiful pictures of delicious looking cookies with clearly labeled sections and detailed instructions. This is an excellent recipe book. The only problem was which recipe should I try for this review?

This leads to my cookie confession, I am good at making cookies … except for chocolate chip. I have no idea what is going on, I’ve tried so many different recipes, followed instructions to the tee and they all come out bad. So I’ve given up. I only make chocolate chip cookies from the package now. Life it too short to waste time making bad food right?

With that in mind, I skipped the chocolate chip recipe and ended up choosing the Lemon cookies. They were soooooo good! Very tasty and full of bright flavor. They didn’t last very long in my cookie loving house.

The only caveat I have to the recipes in this book is that they tend to be a little labor intensive. Cook for a few minutes, go in and turn the pan, cook a couple more minutes and tap the pan on the rack, cook a few more minutes and tap again, then they are done. As a person with disabilites, this is more work than I am capable of. The good thing is that skipping those extra steps shouldn’t stop you from making the recipes, but it does change the look of the final product a little. So I can still make these sweet cookies without the extra work if I want.

All in all, this cookie book was excellent, and if you are looking to boost your holiday repertoire then look no further. Just in time right?!

This is an amazing collection of cookie recipes!

Last night, my husband and I spent some time picking out a recipe to try. We were both intrigued by the Neopolitan cookies, so Doug purchased the ingredients and made them today (he's the baker in the family). I'm currently on a keto diet, so I only ate one, but they were delicious! I think they would be a favorite at parties and get-togethers. I truly can't wait to try more of these recipes. Er...ahem...have DOUG try more of these recipes.

I'm seriously contemplating buying a hardcover copy to have on hand. We liked this cookbook enough where we figured it wouldn't be particularly convenient for Doug to steal my Kindle every time he wanted to select a recipe.

If you have baker in the family, who loves trying new creations, I highly recommend 100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More.

To give you an idea of some other recipes, here are a few I'm anxious to try:
- Lemon Sugar Cookies
- Smoky Butterscotch Cookies
- Mud Pie Bars
- Rocky Road Cookies
- Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

This collection would also make a lovely holiday gift.
Definitely recommended!

My sincere appreciation to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for my review copy.

If you love cookies, sweets, baking in general and cookbooks this is an excellent book to add to your collection. There is a glorious array of recipes included in this book. From everyday to special occasion and novice to challenging, I feel there is something here for every baker. This book features easy to follow instructions and scrumptious looking photos that will have you eager to get in the kitchen just as soon as you can to begin baking. There's a large portion of these recipes that are easily made from pantry staples and some that require some more specialized ingredients that if you are like me, you will not have on hand. In my opinion though, nothing is too outrageous and if it can't be found were you regularly shop there is always the internet. While I have not tried every recipe, some of my very favorite ones have been the Brown Butter Chocolate Chip cookies, the Cinnamon Roll Blondies and the lemon sugar cookies. Also included are some helpful tips, tricks and general info that is sure to help elevate your baking game.

100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More by Sarah Kieffer is currently scheduled for release on October 20 2020. 100 recipes for all types of cookies--chocolatey, fruity, crispy, chewy, classic, inventive—there's a foolproof recipe for the perfect treat for everyone in this book. Recipes range from the Classic Chocolate Chip made three different ways, to bars, brownies, and blondies that reflect a wide range of flavors and global inspiration.

100 Cookies is a cookbook that focuses on the joy of cookies- who does not love cookies? I admit to already have a couple cookie oriented cookbooks- but I had to take a look. I think the recipes are well organized and nicely varied. There are more than a few that I have made before, some variations on things I have seen elsewhere, and some I want to try. There were some perfect for newcomers or dabblers, and some for the the more intense bakers. The instructions were well written and easy to follow. My only complaint is more about my personal formatting preference of recipes than anything wrong. I like my ingredients list at the top of the recipe, and this configuration used a sidebar style. There is nothing wrong with this, and maybe I will get used to it, but it just really bothered me for some reason.

If you are interested in trying different recipe versions of well-known cookies, it's worth checking out this book. The book is divided into sections: The Classics, Brownies + Blondies, Fruitextravaganza, The Next Level (fancier desserts), Time to Play (cookie variations), Pan-Banging Cookies (cookies with a ripple effect), Mix + Match, and Extras. What I really liked about this book was that almost every recipe had a picture. I tried the recipes for chocolate chip, peanut butter, and kitchen sink cookies. All were delicious but I still prefer my own familiar cookie recipes. However, I tried the brownie recipe and it was the best homemade brownie I've ever had! This book is definitely worth trying out, because you might find a new favorite recipe.

100 Cookies by Sarah Kieffer is a baking book that is packed full of amazing ideas and recipes for creating yummy treats. The instructions are well-written and easy to follow with many beautiful images to accompany them. Also, the pan-banging technique that the author has featured in many of the recipes makes for an incredible cookie experience.

If there is one dessert that is my favourite to make, it is a cookie. 100 Cookies has so many ideas that there is really something for almost everyone within its pages. Having never heard of pan-banging before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this book. It is an absolute game-changer for anyone who loves cookies.

The book is well laid out and divided into sections:

Introduction (including tips and equipment)
The Classics
Brownies + Blondies
Fruitextravaganza
The Next Level
Time to Play
Pan-Banging Cookies
Mix + Match
Extras

❀ WILL STEP-UP YOUR COOKIE GAME

It was hard to decide which cookie to start with, but I eventually settled on the Snickerdoodles. The recipe itself is quite similar to ones that I have created before, but the method of banging the cookie tray multiple times provided fantastic results. By lifting the tray and letting it fall back onto the rack every few minutes during baking creates these amazing ripples. If you love the crispy outside of a cookie, this is one idea that will step up your cookie game.

❀ FUN AND INTERESTING COLLECTION OF RECIPES

Another fun inclusion to the book is a playlist created by the author. This is such a lovely and interesting collection of recipes that will really make for some relaxing and stress-relieving time spent in the kitchen. If you love to create desserts and are looking for new ideas, 100 Cookies by Sarah Kieffer is a definite win.

100 Cookies is a tutorial and recipe collection for everyday and fancy baked goodies developed and curated by Sarah Kieffer. Released 25th Aug 2020 by Chronicle Books, it's 304 pages and available in hardcover and ebook formats.

This is a definitive and extensive collection of recipes with something for everyone - from classics (chocolate chip cookies, brownies) to fairly fancy and innovative (olive oil sugar cookies with blood orange glaze, lavender cookies with white chocolate - créme fraîche glaze). These will gladden the heart of anyone who has ever searched in vain for a cookie recipe to take to a family gathering or other event. This will become a staple for every cook who enjoys holiday baking.

The introduction (indeed the whole book) is written very clearly and covers everything from tools to supplies to "how-to" tutorials and techniques. The recipes are grouped roughly thematically: the classics, brownies & blondies, fruitextravaganza, the next level (fancy!), time to play, pan banging cookies (special technique for getting crispy edges and gooey centers), and mix & match. The author has also included a generous selection of affiliated baking and ingredient recipes including pie dough, puff pastry, brown butter, pastry cream, lemon curd, and others.

The recipes have their ingredients listed bullet style in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard with metric measurements in parentheses (yay!). Special tools and ingredients are also listed, along with yields and cooking directions. Yields, description, and prep time are included in a header bar. Most of the ingredients are easily sourced at any moderately well stocked grocery store.

The book also includes a short author bio and conversion charts, along with an index including an ingredients index. There is a short bibliography and links for sourcing specialized ingredients and equipment. The recipes themselves are varied, and represent a wide variety of holidays and occasions to celebrate. They're tasty and many are simple and easy to prepare, requiring few ingredients and little prep time. Other recipes are *very* fancy and will impress even the most jaded tastes. I am definitely going to take the sugar cookies with blood orange glaze to our departmental cookie meet-up this winter (assuming we're allowed to gather by then).

Five stars. This is a winner collection.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

I haven’t actually made any of the cookies from this book so I can’t comment on how well they bake - but I was certainly sold based on the photos! This is the perfect book for anyone who loves cookies; there really are as many recipes as claimed.

I absolutely loved this baking book! It really made me want to try every single recipe! It's a shame I got recently diagnosed with Celiac disease, so pretty much all of these have some sort of gluten, but im interested to try to swap out with different flour!

Mini Review: I did not get a chance to bake any recipes from this book, but I will definitely be checking this book out again after it is released! I went through and looked at the recipes, and saw many (There were so many delicious looking cookies!) that I would like to try. If you're looking for a cookbook for desserts, I would tell you to try this one! :)
