this book was a dnf for me. Overall, it was okay, I just don't think it was entirely my taste. I still intend on referring it to friends and followers who it may fit the reading preferences of. Nothing was glaringly wrong for me, it just wan't my taste, and that's okay!

I enjoyed everything about this book. It was extremely lighthearted and fun! I would not change a thing! This is my first book by the author. The cover is what drew me in.

This started out like a fun read and the cover is brilliant but I just lost interest at about 17% and have not wanted to pick it back up. May revisit in the future but for now its DNF review.

Loved this book and couldn't put it down, was willing Fran on all the way through her ups and downs. So glad I'm not on the dating scene, sounds like you need to kiss a lot of frogs and still not find prince charming. Well written and would recommend x

Content Warning: cheating, revenge porn, gaslighting

I usually don't pick up adult romances (which is what I think this book was), but I had a feeling about it. And that instinct was true! Swipe Right is a cute, humourous, captivating read with really good characters and great chemistry.

I really liked how the author wonderfully explained what gaslighting is and how the victim questions their reality even after the manipulation has stopped. This realisation of the character led to a significant growth and change in how she behaved and what she accepted as appropriate towards her. At the end of the day, this is what I've come here to see.

I loved the romance. These are two people who constantly challenge each other to be better, more level-headed people. And they genuinely respect each other. They also seem to be kind people in general, and work to implement that in others as well.

The friendships in this book are also great. Aside from one instance, the female-female friendships are based on trust and love and bonding, not the classic "i hate you but won't show it to your face" trope which I hate. Feminism! (I joke,,,, unless...?)

The average rating is because this wasn't a breakthrough novel. I had two chief complaints with it: one, the cheating and two, a strange - and possibly offensive - take on polyamory. Other than that, this is a solid novel and delivers what it promises.

DNF. Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this early copy! I decided to not keep reading this one, it was not for me. Thanks!

Fran and Ollie are work colleagues who start off as competitors but their work relationship quickly develops into that of work spouses. Which is great because Fran will need all of the support she can get when she decides to chronicle her adventures in app-based dating for the website they both work for. But what if the right person for her has been standing in front of her all this time?

Swipe Right is a super fun rom-com. It took almost half of the book for it to get into the actual dating part but that was okay because I was absolutely lost in the fun of the Daily Hive where Fran and Ollie work and also just enjoying everything about their lives and their developing friendship. The dating mishaps are hilarious and while the last bit of the book didn't have the same mojo as the rest (for me at least) it is definitely a book that I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun, easy to fall into read, especially if you are looking for a book that will bring the fun summer vibes. It is an absolute pick me up book, perfect for the world we are currently living in.

This was a cute love story, but it followed a plot I feel like is too easily written in our current generation. I feel like a lot of plot points were similar to other recent romcoms lately, but I understand that it is the go to romantic plot line during current times.

Social media, online content and two people so intent on denying they like each other it was honestly kind of frustrating? Swipe Right is all that, and more!

The story
Love could be a click away… Or in the last place you expected.

When Fran meets Ollie, it’s eye roll at first sight. Who does he think he is – with his Ray-Bans, piss taking and artfully styled hair? Forced into working together at Viral Hive, the trendy media content agency, at first they butt heads, but soon realise that they could be BFFs. Fran’s happily settled with boyfriend Lucas, while Ollie is fully committed to girlfriend Lou.

But when Fran’s relationship crumbles, and Ollie sets off with Lou for a round-the-world trip, she decides to start an anonymous dating column, detailing all the perils of dating online – from the bloke who angrily demanded she share the bill when she refused his clumsy advances, to the one that ended their date by weeping into her cleavage – even if it seems that all the good (or even normal?) men are hiding. Maybe there aren’t plenty more fish in the sea?

But, on her dating journey of discovery, Fran’s about to learn that sometimes love can be where you least expect it… you just have to put down your phone.

The opinion
Look, I have to be honest here – when I first started reading Swipe Right? I just sort of went “oh great, it’s a BuzzFeed office romance” and put the book back down. That was a mistake on me behalf, I’ll admit it. Because when I (finally) convinced myself to get back to this story? I flew through it in about 2 hours. The kind of “didn’t get up, didn’t get a drink, ignored the fact I really did need to use the bathroom”-2 hours.

Fran, the main character, is a strong woman. Probably could do with a capital S in there. She also starts this book slightly out of her comfort zone, and in a relationship that isn’t necessarily the healthiest. I mean, it’s frustrating, because you see her make excuses for someone who really isn’t worthy of them. Following along, though, as she starts to realise exactly that, and then refuses to be put down any longer by the likes of him? That evolution in and of itself would make for a pretty good story.

Of course, that really is just the starting point of the story. The rollercoaster of swiping right, writing about her adventures, and of course: Fran’s friendship with Ollie… (And that’s not a spoiler, because, I mean, let’s be real, Swipe Right is definitely the type of book where you know, as soon as you start reading, what’s going to happen)

Everything combines into a story that was highly entertaining, fast-paced, offered a fun inside view into the world of BuzzFeed and the likes, and of course: delivered on the romance.

The rating: 4/5
As I said: highly entertaining as well delivering where it needs to, Swipe Right is definitely one of those books I can see myself going back to later. Even if only to reread (and appreciate) Fran’s articles on her (horrible) dates!

This is a delightful read. The main character is so relatable and lovely - you really root for her to get the man she deserves. Humorous and heartwarming. I just couldn’t put this down!

Unfortunately, I was slow in downloading this story and it was archived before I had the chance. I'm sure it is a wonderful read.

Fran has just scored her dream job, she's now a digital content creator at Viral Hive. While at her interview, Fran meets Ollie who it seems Viral Hive also liked as when she starts work, he is there too on day one. The team at their new employer tell the pair that they were impressed with the pair's chemistry and would like them to work together on some projects. Cue the start of a beautiful relationship...

...but Fran has a boyfriend and Ollie has a girlfriend. When things get messy, Fran branches out on her own and tries her hand at internet dating. She blogs about her dates for work and when none of her dates pan out, she realizes that sometimes the right thing is right in front of you.

This was a really cute book. There are hints of cheating involved in case this bothers anyone otherwise I fully recommend this one if you're after a light and fun read!

Wasn't for me. The cover was so freaking cute tho but I just wasn't a fan of the characters or the plot.

What a charming read! Delightful beach reading. Very cute chick-lit style book. I enjoyed this one.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

I can date my love for the friends-to-lovers trope back to the first time I watched When Harry Met Sally. Since that fateful night, I've been on the eternal prowl for other books and movies in which, over the course of the story, friends--best friends, preferably--fall in love with each other. The more obstacles they face and the more time they take to come to the realization that they're in love and/or get together, the better. So, naturally, after seeing several reviewers compare Swipe Right to When Harry Met Sally, I knew I just had to read it for myself.

Swipe Right wasn't bad, but it was no Nora Ephron masterpiece either. While I enjoyed Swipe Right well enough, it was missing the It Factor that made When Harry Met Sally such a huge hit. I don't think I can pin down whatever ineffable quality sets When Harry Met Sally apart from other rom-coms like it, but I do believe that Swipe Right failed to live up to the comparison in large part due to how its main characters and love interests, Ollie and Fran, were received. Whether they appeared together on-screen or apart, both Harry and Sally were always charming and funny and likable; they came across as people with whom the viewers would want to crack open a cold one. Ollie and Fran, on the other hand, were just... not so charming and funny. Frankly, I found them both annoying more often than I didn't, and it never bodes well for a book when I'm cursing the main characters on a continuous loop inside my head for most of it. But, to Swipe Right's credit, Ollie and Fran never irritated me enough to make me consider not finishing the book, and the sheer number of obstacles keeping Ollie and Fran apart guaranteed that I stayed invested in their relationship and continued flipping (electronic) pages. I should also note here that while I didn't find Ollie and Fran, as characters, particularly charming or funny, Swipe Right still had its fair share of charming and funny moments, as any rom-com worth its salt should.

Neither wholly original nor particularly surprising, Swipe Right is a frothy read from start to finish. There are some parallels to When Harry Met Sally, but the book is, at best, a poor man's B-movie remake. Although it's not bad, it's not really anything to write home about either, especially not when judged comparatively. That being the case, I think it's probably best to forgo the comparison altogether so that the book can stand on its own and be judged without having a When Harry Met Sally-sized cross to bear. Whatever else it may or may not be, Swipe Right is a light and cute read that has its moments. If you want some pure rom-com escapism with a When Harry Met Sally twist, then look no further than Swipe Right. Otherwise, perhaps you'd be better served having what somebody else is having instead.

3.5/5 Stars

I thought this was super adorable, I enjoyed the characters and their chemistry together. There were some plot devices and lines that I didn't really care much for and could see people being really upset about them. Overall very cute, quick, and adorable rom-com. I would recommend giving this book a read!

I’ve had this arc on my shelf for a while. Life and lockdown have slowed my reading down a little and, being completely honest, I prioritised a couple of other books assuming this one to be another ‘online dating disaster’ story. How wrong I was!

Swipe Right is a brilliant book, wonderfully written with excellent characters - I couldn’t put it down.

I absolutely loved Fran and Ollie. Fran was a very normal person. She enjoyed the odd smoke, which is so strange to read in modern books, but made her character even more real. Supporting characters were well described, unique and easily identifiable throughout the book.

The story is quite a roller coaster, one that keeps you interested with a few little curveballs thrown in.

I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting an enjoyable, romantic, funny novel that will grip you from the very start and have you rooting for the main characters.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for my advanced copy of this book 📚

Slooooow burn, requires patience

Fran is incredibly confident walking into her interview, that is until she's paired up with Ollie who's an arrogant idea thief. They both wind up landing the job, off the basis of working together on a project. Fran isn't sure she's going to be able to make it a day without Ollie driving her crazy, but the rest of the office sees a connection between them. Both Fran and Ollie are in serious relationships but their friendship blooms to the point of work spouses.

I love seeing two friends fall for each other. As someone who married her best friend of eight years, I was able to relate having everyone around us tell us how right for each other we are. I also loved the hilarious accuracy of what app dating is like and how truly awful it is.

Overall I didn't love this book. For it being a romance, there wasn't much romance. It took too long to get to the main event. The book could've sped up by about 25%. The whole book circled Fran and Ollie's relationship yet there was only about 5 pages of it.

Thank you NetGalley and Hera Books for the eARC.

This was a cute but frustrating story about 'The One' being right under your nose. This book has lots of humour and lots of emotion, which made for a great easy read.

I'd love to read more books from this author.

Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this E-book to review.
