On Twitter the author Stephie Chapman has called Swipe Right “a bit When Harry Met Sallyish, a bit Buzzfeedy, some ridiculous Tindering and a lot of sass.” And that is absolutely spot-on! There’s romantic work-place drama like in The Hating Game, there’s longing and misunderstandings like in Meet Cute, with a bit of men and women can’t be friends flirting like in When Harry Met Sally.

Swipe Right is such romcom fun! Reading this book feels like chatting with a friend that you can tell anything (and I mean anything) to and she won’t judge. Seeing the ups and downs of dating in London, her friendships in and out of work, her cool job at Viral Hive — it felt like Fran was telling me all about it herself. Like I was getting all the juicy dating details and emotional purges directly from her. This book is hilarious, sexy, flirty, emotional, romantic, and cool, and that’s why it felt like a friend coming over for pizza at the end of a long day to confide in you. And I love that!

Fran, Ollie, Carlina, Suze — I loved them all in their own way, getting to know them, seeing them all be there for each other, seeing them grow. Especially seeing Fran and Ollie’s hearts change over time.

Really enjoyed reading Swipe Right and would absolutely recommend it!

This was an enjoyable easy read with a great concept.  Ollie and Fran have a job interview for the same position at Viral Hub. Viral Hub is the book's equivalent to BuzzFeed and they're both brilliant candidates. When the company can't decide who gets the job, they create a role so they both can work for them. They seem to be a perfect match for one another and everyone can see it apart from them.

Fran ends up going on some hilarious dates and some that were downright crazy! It was for the most part enjoyable but felt a little bit frenetic how quickly Fran was moving through blokes on Tinder. It was a great plot but I was genuinely concerned for her safety and what was going to happen to her next! I was worried Ollie was going to have to come and save her at one point...

I could definitely see this as a modern day version of 'When Harry Met Sally'. It's an easy read with a good plot. I just wish there had been a bit more romance to the story and a better ending. It felt like the story was building up and went out with a fizzle rather than a bang.

I feel like I've been reading a lot of romance lately and that might be why I chose to give this book 3 stars rather than 4. There is nothing wrong with the book, I just judged it on how I was feeling. I've been reading a lot of romance lately.

Such a sweet read. Great for the beach if it's ever safe to venture out of the house again, but I digress. Loved Fran and Ollie. I thought she was a bit hard on him in the beginning but she came around. I thought he was a bit of an idiot at first too, but the story all came together in the end. I would definitely read more from Chapman again.

Fran is applying for a job at a viral media company. While she is there she meets Ollie who is also applying for the same job. They both get it and at first Fran thinks Ollie is not that great. Over time, they become the best of friends and are even dubbed as work spouses. However, they both already have partners. During a Christmas party, Ollie tells Fran that he thinks about her a lot and they share a very passionate kiss which leaves Fran wondering. Unfortunately, Fran has a terrible break up. She starts a blog where she goes on dates and writes about then anonymously. This goes on for some time and then Ollie drops the balm saying he is going on a world adventure with his girlfriend which leave Fran feeling sadder than ever.

This was a cute story. I liked the plot line. I wish there would have been more steam in the book. Overall, a cute read

Swipe Right is told from Fran's perspective, who begins working at a media content agency at the same time as Ollie. They start off butting heads but quickly become each other's work wife/husband. Both in relationships (at the beginning, anyway...), the book's description mentions that Fran starts an anonymous dating column and Ollie takes off overseas. However, this doesn't happen until halfway into the book, so I personally found the whole rude boyfriend part at the beginning monotonous and was impatiently waiting for her to dump him already! Nevertheless, Swipe Right resurrected itself in my eyes as it features a stellar selection of supporting characters and some interesting dating stories, I recommend it if you're looking for an easy-to-read romance novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hera Books for the ARC - all opinions are my own.

I really loved this book. Something very different to what I thought it might be and in a good way. I loved all the characters and their extended family and friends. I loved the the lead female was not a pushover by some billionaire into all his fantasies, but lived and mapped her own life.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book, I would recommend it to everyone.

Ah what a fabulous story featuring likeable characters that you are willing to get together. I must admit I didn't actually understand what job they did... When Fran started her anonymous dating column the pace of the novel really heated up and it was full steam ahead from there. Will they or wont they? You'll have to read it to find out.

This has been the absolute perfect escape read for me. I have absolutely loved this one so much that I have devoured the entire book in just an hour.
This has been an extremely fun read and I have loved it. This is just a perfect and delightful read. I feel like I was able to make an instant connection with the characters involved and they are extremely real.
The work environment described sounds absolutely brilliant, I have loved this one. The spark between Ollie and Fran has been apparent since the very first moment. The story flowed nicely throughout this and the author is definitely fantastic because I had no desire to return to normality until I had finished this book.
Without a doubt a five star read, I'm sure other book lovers will love this story as much as I have. I will definitely be shouting about this one.

Fran lands a new job with a media entertainment company. When she splits up with her boyfriend ends she decides to try Tinder and writes a big about her disastrous dates. A lovely amusing story of Fran's quest to find love. Everyone at work can see that Fran and her work husband Ollie are made for each other. When will they realise this.

Swipe right to your happily ever.

Fran is nervous and excited to be interviewing for her dream job, and suddenly she’s thrown together with this cocky cutie who she butts heads with constantly. While both her and Ollie have significant others, there’s definitely some chemistry working it’s magic on the two of them. Is it meant to be? Will these two work it out? Or will fate step in and put them exactly where they’re meant to be in love, work and life?

The first half took a bit to build up - Her boyfriend is just a doofus, from the moment he was introduced it made me like Fran as the main character less just for putting up with him. When she finally dumps him - in the BEST way, and one of my favorite parts of the book - she decides to take that energy and pitch a How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days style dating series for work.

I typically love this trope, the one who's right next to you being perfect for you, except there's all these obstacles. At first, I didn't feel a connection with these characters like I wanted to - Fran just seemed too stuck on all the wrong things, and the wrong guys for her, but the ending won me over. A delightful more than just friends story with a bit more of a modern feel with the social media emphasis.

Thank you to Netgalley, Stephie Chapman & Hera Books for the ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.

4 Stars! I loved this new sweet Rom Com nod to Nora Ephron’s When Harry Met Sally.

Fun cast. While a bit dragging at times, the rich diverse cast of friends and coworkers made up for the over attention to detail and backstories.

What I didn’t like? British formatting...I think. Just closely spaced together. No double quotations to indicate dialogue. It just was distracting.

Also, single POV and no epilogue is a major bummer too.

But I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend to others.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

This story was a classic When Harry Met Sally type of romance. You knew from the start the two characters were going to fall madly in love with each other but you read along because you want to see the play by play! I loved this story. Being in quarantine has put me in the mood for romance chick-lit stories and this one hit the spot!

This is a very interesting rom com about 2 people who met during their interview and are both in relationship. When they met first they had something but they remain as friends. I hated the female character bf like was such an ass and i did not like how the ending was like freaking fast

Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman was an instant pick up for me as it was described as the book version of When Harry Met Sally (my favorite movie of all time)! This RomCom takes place in London, it begins as Fran meets Ollie during their group interview for a content creator position at a Buzzfeed-Esque entertainment website. The meeting is not exaaaactly love at first sight; however, there is something about Ollie that won't let Fran forget him.

Noticing the infectious dynamic between the two of them, Fran and Ollie end up being forced to work together, going from competitors to 'work spouses'. As Ollie leaves their job and takes off on a worldwide trip with his girlfriend, Fran has broken up with her partner and is struggling to create new content. She makes the bold decision to write about her adventures with online dating. What she will learn through this process will change her life.

This book had it all: rivalries, attraction, love, break-ups, friendships, you name it! Fran and Ollie's dynamic from the start was infectious, you could not help but to root for their relationship, whether it was just as friends... or more!

What I absolutely loved about this story was Fran's exploration of herself as she learned what she truly needs and wants in a partner as well as who she is, a smart, talented woman who deserves it all!

Ultimately, I really enjoyed this story and the multiple relationships it displayed, if you are into RomComs I would recommend picking it up for a fun summer read!

4 Stars
This was a delight in the way it took the Harry Met Sally troupe and turned it on its side with today's internet, open, free-wheeling sharing. It takes to people who become co-workers and how they develop a friendship of sorts. They work together perfectly yet do not cross over into more until much much later.

This had banter, quirky dating issues and all the other fun stuff.

I really enjoyed reading Fran’s journey from getting a new job to internet dating.
I couldn’t put this book down and read it in no time at all.
I really hope there is a follow up to this story as I didn’t want it to end.

Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman is a contemporary romance, and my first book by this author. I absolutely loved this book, from beginning to the end. This book is similar to when Harry met Sally, because Fran and Ollie friendship takes place over years. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a heart warming story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Sometimes, a bit of romance is exactly what you need. A little distraction from the rest of the world and, when it all works out well in the end, then you know things will be okay. That's exactly what Swipe Right manages to do.

When Fran interviews for a job at content website Viral Hive, she didn't expect to interview against Mr Cool. They instantly clash but have great creativity and ideas. But even if he hadn't caught her eye, it doesn't matter, because she has Lucas and he has Lou. But when Fran's relationship with Lucas crumbles, she decides to get on Tinder and document her dates - great content, after all!

I have a lot of gripes with romance novels (but still keep going back to them). They don't always get it right. The friends are just there as filler for the MC. The MC is cuter than she realises. The ex is a total douche. The new guy is swoon-worthy. They make a few mistakes and then BAM. Kisses at midnight. Or in the park. Or at the coffee shop.

Thankfully, Swipe Right doesn't quite go in for all of those tropes. Fran is probably hot, but aside from having notable red hair, there's not much about her looks. She comes across as a lot more ... normal. She's also sharp and snarky. She's not wet, she makes mistakes and she can hold her own. So far, so go.

Her chemistry with the new guy, Ollie, is totally on point. They clash. They call each other out. They care. Definite sparks and, if you know that feeling, then it's definitely there in this book. I was a bit worried he would have to come and rescue her at one point, but thankfully ...

My rom com gripe here is that all the dates, all the men, that Fran meets are definite pieces of work. Some are pathetic, some are manipulative, some are nasty. That was just the bit of depth missing from this for me - well-rounded male characters that don't require romantic interest. Likewise, there could have been a lot more going on with her friends. I've read a lot worse (!!!) but am still waiting for that rom com that gives me it all.

But seriously, Fran and Ollie - great chemistry, natural conversation, very believable. It worked and I enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom. Even better, this story takes TIME. It's not 4 weeks of sizzling chemistry. It's years. I need a little realism in my fuzzy romance feels.

I think if I were to read this at a different time it might be a 3.5 rounded down to 3 stars, but given that this book did me no wrong, it's up to 4 stars.

The last part of the story focuses on romance. We remain in a traditional register but its end makes us smile. It is an enemy to friends to lovers story that we take pleasure in reading. It has Christmas scents. We want to read this with a plaid on our knees and a cup of hot chocolate. It's really cute and we take pleasure in rereading it just for the excitement it arouses.

“As Harry puts it, men and women can never be friends because 'the sex part always gets in the way.”
― Nora Ephron, When Harry Met Sally

I've always loved the movie, When Harry Met Sally, and it was obviously used as inspiration for this story. Unfortunately, while Harry and Sally were funny and endearing, Ollie and Fran were not. I found them both mildly annoying, and their voices sounded WAY older than the twenty-somethings they were. Their chemistry was seriously lacking. The timeline jumped forward so frequently, I guess we were to assume they were spending far more time together than we were told.

My favorite part of the entire book was Fran's description of her time spent with "the musician." I literally laughed out loud, and added an extra star for that chapter alone.

This is a cutesy, sweet novel, but offered nothing new.

Available for purchase May 13th, 2020.
