This was an adorable and cute childhood book. I found many scenarios relatable and could remember the awkwardness of those times as a young woman.

I loved this book! This is a new-to-me author and I thought she was funny, witty and I really enjoyed her illustrations. My favorite were the expectation vs. reality comics - so relatable!

Review to be posted on 17th May on blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review!

I just LOVE Cassandra Calin's art and comics, I follow her on Tapastic and read her comics immediately when they come out. I also got one of her books at home and I am looking forward to adding this book to my collection when it comes out. I know that my husband would also love it as he is also a fan.

First up I love the title and the introduction, especially the last sentence: "This book will give you an insight on what it's like to try your best to be a normal human being - and actually leaving your house from time to time."

And then the comics start and while I knew most of them I still had so much fun seeing Cassandra do her things, live her life, along with her boyfriend, do work and university stuff. There was a lot that was highly relatable to me and that had me glad I am not the only one who had this happening to them. Like brushed hair is nice and all, but my hair generally either poofs up or gets so static I zap everything the whole day. :P Making a knot of your hair... how do people do that???? Spending your money on puppies and then drowning in a sea of them = the dream. Sometimes I wish I could bring my bed with me when going to stuff (well.. these days I am not going anywhere). And there was more. I had so much fun reading this one and I laughed a lot, which was just what I needed as well, while I am writing this I feel not too happy. My mental health has really taken a big hit since March. So this is just perfect to read. Something to distract me. Something to make me laugh.

I just love her art style!

All in all, I LOVED this book. It was hilarious, relatable, sweet, cute, and I would highly recommend it.

Parts of this book were cute and relatable, but other parts were really creepy or just kinda boring. The book is basically pencil sketches without color about the daily life and struggles of the author. Sarah Anderson's comics are in the same vein and I've found that hers are much more enjoyable, funny, and fun to read.

I really enjoyed this book! I found myself laughing out loud at so many pages of this! I sent little pictures and moments of this book to so many of my friends while reading this. In general, I always seem to just love any books by Andrews McMeel Publishing. It was a quick read, which can be really nice during this quarantine time right now.

I really enjoyed the style of the art in this book. I would love to read more from this author!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this advance copy.

I love webcomics like these! This collection was fun to read too. I'll have to look up the author and find her other work. This book was a good mix or silly pages and pages that manage to have a humorous look at things like mental health issues.

I would definitely purchase a copy of this book for my personal collection.

Recommended: yes
for people who have enjoyed her comics on social, for women who enjoy short comics that are #relatable, for anyone looking for a little smile

Thoughts:
If you follow her on Instagram or have otherwise seen her comics, then you can expect more of the same art style and humour. For those new to Cassandra Calin, YOU'RE IN FOR A FUN TIME! Mostly short 4-panel comics or expectations vs reality side by side comparisons, these are everyday issues most people run into. Her comics probably do appeal to women more since she writes about her experiences like menstruating, trying to find comfortable clothes, and attempts at hair styling. Men will probably get a laugh too, but honestly I could also see a lot of them scratching their heads or cringing in horror as they learn things they never knew about the female mind and body. 😂

For new content, there are definitely comics from her social sharings in here that I recognized. I'm not sure if any are exclusive to the book, but it was about half ones I'd seen and half ones that were new to me. The arc follows roughly a year in her life, with some seasonal and school based comics.

All I need to say is it's Cassandra, I'll like her content immediately. I've been following her for years and I'm really proud of her for making this book. It has the same tone as her comics from her socials. It fully captures the 20 y.o. curly-haired introverts and the tiny pet peeves or silly things they do. This is a collection of various comic pages, but I wish it at least had a consistent story told throughout these random jokes instead of repetitive frizzy hair jokes. That would have been more intriguing and would have some sort of impact on the reader. But maybe this is just me wanting everything to make sense at the end. But for what this book is [a coffee-table book] it's pretty well done from the art style to the jokes to the editing of this book. I would recommend it if you have a small amount of time to kill.

In a world where extroverts reign supreme, I Left the House Today! is the perfect compilation of comics that chronicle the trials and tribulations of the typical homebody living in the world. Each page includes a highly-relatable, independent series of four pictures, making this the perfect book for Millennial to binge in one sitting or peruse between loads of laundry. However, the haphazard order of the comics may benefit from some organization to allow for topic-based pickings if desired. Overall, I Left the House Today! is the perfect book to help us pause and celebrate the smaller, sometimes awkward moments of this adventure called life.

I have always adored Cassandra Calin's comics. I was sure I would love this collection, and I did!

It seems a little eerie and almost funny, reading it during this lockdown when we really cannot step out of the house.
As always, the comics were fun, punchy and harmless.
One thing that Cassandra does great in her work is create realistic depiction of the bodies - she keeps an eye for details (like how a dress actually looks when we wear it versus how the brands expect us to look)
Kudos on that! I'll always keep coming back to her work!

"I Left the House Today!" is an explosion of funny and relatable content. This was my first Cassandra Calin book that I've read but I've followed her comics through social media and having a full book of them was like being giving a gift. The comics are short and to the point. I really felt like could relate to a lot of them. There were a few comics that left me feeling a little confused but overall I really enjoyed reading this book.

It feels like the perfect coffee table book and I honestly can't wait to own a physical copy of this book so I can flip through it whenever I need a pick me up!

I adored this collection of comics! When I started this book I hadn't seen the authors social media so I wasn't familiar with her work, however since finishing it I haven't stopped. This collection is just so fun, cute and completely relateable. It was also so funny. I am not always the biggest fan of humour comics but this one you couldn't help but smile.

Highly, highly recommend.

I really love these slice of life relatable comic novel collections. Cassandra Calin's I Left the House Today! is one such book that is just so easy to relate to that you can't help but love it. And, wonderfully enough, the piece I identify with the most is the title itself. As an introvert, that phrase truly does an exceptional job of capturing the feeling of accomplishing something that, at times, can be rather difficult for you despite being fairly easy for others.

As far as Calin's work goes, I did enjoy a lot of this book. I found many of her comics quite relatable, though perhaps not as relatable as I have found others. It is in this that I had a little bit of a struggle getting into the book at times. That said, I expect a great many people will not have that problem at all. Not everyone will have the same experience I did with all of these comic strips.

The artwork was good, though not my all-time favorite. I think it really differed from comic to comic. Some looked downright creepy to me at times while others I found absolutely beautiful. It was an odd inconsistency for me to find among art that was genuinely actually quite consistent. I think it was just some of the expressions Calin drew that threw me off.

I Left the House Today is definitely a book that I would recommend, though probably not one that I would purchase.

es, yes, yes, yes, YES!!!

This little comic collection was just what I needed to read tonight. I really do hate the word relatable, but it just fits so well for this entire book. Countless times I showed my boyfriend certain pages, claiming “it me!”

The art style was great, and I instantly felt the need to find the author on IG to see more and support her work.

If you like comic style drawings, are an introvert, have periods or just want something really good to ‘read’ - check this one out.

This was my first time reading and viewing Cassandra Calin's book. I was initially drawn to this cover and title of this book. I Left the House Today! is something that many of us can not express right now and I was looking forward to whatever hijinks awaited.

This is less of a graphic novel and more of a collection of Calin's four panel comics. I found most of the stories, which mostly focused on her relationship with her boyfriend and grooming, to be cute, but redundant at times. It took me less than a half hour to read this.

I think Cain does have an interesting perception and voice, and I would love to see her develop her work into a novel. Her comic self is very vulnerable and I would love to see this version of her tell a longer story. I was disappointed it was over so quickly and nothing really stuck with me.

This is such a fun collection of comics from Cassandra. I have fallen her on Instagram for many years and always love seeing her new insights into the life of being a young woman. The comics are drawn simply to draw attention to the funniest moments and my favorites tend to be the facial expressions or the silly antics Cassandra gets into. I found myself laughing out loud many times even though most of these I had seen before. All in all, totally worth a read.

I love Cassandra Calin's work and I am so happy that I got a chance to read this collection.

This is a collection of her webcomics and even though I have already seen most of them, I loved reading this. Cassandra's work can always make me laugh, even if I'm in a bad mood. The comics are just so adorable and the artwork is really cute.
Note: the comics are in random order so if you are expecting a cohesive story this is not it. It's basically an "episode" per page. But I would recommend giving her comics a try. Go check out her social media and see if it is something you might like.
