Really cute and endearing slice of life comics with a very clean art style, although I sort of feel bad about how bad the author/artist feels about her body. In a daily webcomic I can see it being cute and endearing, but it's a bit overwhelming in a collection. The comics about relationships, sleeping, spiders introversion, and snow were funny, and I really respect her ability to dive into the messiness of expectations and bodies (swimsuit shopping sucks for everyone, hairs popping up in strange places and maddening, and her comics about her period are frank and honest and might be uncomfortable if she didn't look so unflinchingly at the rest of her life). Fun and it'll be interesting to see how her comic sensibility evolves.

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I Left the House Today! by Cassandra Calin is a compilation of 4-panel comic strips detailing the author's daily nuisances. Told in black and white ink drawings, Calin depicts situations such as dashed expectations of a good hair day, the constant need for snacks, and an unhealthy amount of sweatpants. The comics originated as a web series and were compiled into this collection. Although I enjoyed some of these comics, I thought the situations overlapped too much and were slightly redundant, perhaps because they were originally intended to be spread out and read only one at a time. The style is similar to many other web comics out there, and I can understand the cult following behind these seemingly universal daily episodes, but I don't think this collection is for me. This book would be suitable for your average Starbucks and Netflix-loving mass-market reader, and I enjoyed parts of it, but it's not a book I would come back to over and over.

Readers both on NetGalley and Goodreads were hyping up this book and I was sitting here like "no way it's that good." I WAS WRONG.

This book is an absolute delight. It's got a simple premise, the book is pretty much a collection of short comics (no more than 4 panels) that feature and sometimes exaggerate real life moments. Cassandra's art style is simple and often hilarious, and each comic tells a complete story. I found myself laughing out loud while reading this and just having the time of my life. It's engaging, funny, and joyous. I didn't know the author before reading this, but now I want to know more! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a pick-me-up or a smile!

I already knew Cassandra Calin's work online and although the title is kind of ironic in the current state of the world, it's a very realistic and funny portrayal of introverts and people who work from home. The book is all made of those common daily situations that make you think that you're the only person who goes through that – and that's so not true. It's dramatic and so funny, and exactly what I needed to read today. If you like Sarah Andersen or Debbie Tung's work, you'll laugh and love Cassandra's too.

I picked up this book knowing nothing about the author and how popular she is on instagram! However I was pleasantly surprised by the funny and close to reality comic strips! Yes, they are very very realistic and I think most of the women have experienced atleast some of the events she has described! My only issue is that I didn't like the illustrations and felt that they could be more appreciative of females and not shown as a drab throughout the book.

It is a bit scary how much I connected to this comic. Whether it is about relationships, looks, not feeling your best, or the ridiculous amount of hair in a shower drain, everyone can find relatable moments in these comics. I like that the comics are simplistic in not having a ton of background and being black and white. This really draws the reader to the character and even with few words they understand the situation. I am a huge fan of literary elements and the author knows her way around hyperboles and metaphors among various devices to help provide humor yet reality through her images. If you want a quick, light-hearted read that will pull you in and leave you with a smile on your face check out this book!!

As always Cassandra brings you the most relatable content, from hair struggles to just wanting to be a burrito in bed all day in order to avoid people. Its enjoyable comic collection you wouldn't get tired of.My favorite part is expectations versus reality because my God the struggle is real especially for coily/curly hair.
This collection is perfect for online fans and newbies alike. if you need a good chuckle pick this up!

I enjoyed this as a quick read! I wasn't familiar with the author's work prior to picking this up but I enjoy her style and sense of humor. I felt like I related to many of comics and even the ones I didn't were still enjoyable. Perfect little read for quarantine reading and a much needed laugh.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC :)

I've been following Cassandra on Instagram for a long time now. Lots of the comics were familiar in this book, I only find some new ones but I liked them nevertheless.
I didn't really find any logic in the order of the comics and I missed that. It'd be great to have some bigger categories for the comics or something.

They were all relateable and funny, and I always loved her work. So if you are in need of a good laugh or someone to understand your problems, then this is for you.

absolutely love this comic series each page has a different little story and it really reminded me in my own life it's in black and white which is very entertaining to me and simplistic.Instead of having a lot of color to tell the story it really does tell the story with the pictures.

A very cute and relatable comic strip compilation.

The author takes every day life occurrences, and draws them in the form of funny and charming comic strips.

As a female, I can definitely relate to all the incidences portrayed in these comic strips.

They are quite humorous and quirky. The illustrations are also really cute. I love the way the author draws the comics.

Would definitely recommend this book for an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon!
