Claire is on the run from something in her past. When she quits her band, she stays in Highland Georgia. She finds a job helping a shut in around her house and keeps to herself as much as possible.
When she runs into a stranger, Holt, he offers her some help. She’s not accustomed to accepting help but gradually he earns her trust and maybe her heart.
Opinion
This story is absolutely sweet. The budding romance between the two characters builds like a low burning fire. With Holts roots in Highland and Claire wanting nothing of staying, the two teeter on heartbreak if they don’t find a happy middle. This is a perfect vacation read, sweet and easy flowing.

Not my favorite of the series, but an enjoyable read. Claire is hiding out in Highlander trying to figure out her life and Holt is suffering from loneliness and a desire for something more.

Holt is sweet and an all around good guy and I enjoyed his character. Claire though came off as immature to me and seemingly needs to get her life together. I didn’t enjoy her character at all. I more enjoyed seeing Anna and Iain again and the interactions with the people of the town.

I hope there are more books in this series though and look forward to them.

A cute Christmas romance set in Highland, Georgia.
There’s some heat to this romance novel which is something that I’m not crazy about (and frankly, I skip over those parts).
Claire is not your typical heroine. Some might call her a spoiled rich kid, but money had never made her happy. Money drove her parents and left Claire neglected as a child. She’s taken time to establish herself in the music industry, but even that isn’t working out well for her. Hiding out in Highland, Georgia gives her time to collect herself before she steps out of anonymity and into her parent’s world and the celebrity she’s tried to keep hidden.
Holt is sweet, sometimes a bit too much, but he’s the kind of guy that makes a good hero. He, like Claire, appears to have no choice in accepting the fate his family’s business pushes on him.
There are some memorable secondary characters that add colour to the story. Ms. Meadows is just the companion Claire needs at this point in her life. She made be old and crotchety at times, but she appears to care deeply about Claire who is there to help her.
The text was easy to follow and the opening chapter of Claire and Holt’s introduction to each other was entertaining. There are some nice setting descriptions that help to envision the farm, town and home of Ms. Meadows.
I received an ecopy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

"Christmas in Highland is the perfect place for a miracle."

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham is a wonderful addition to the author's Highland, Georgia series. This is the third book in the series. I really enjoyed reading this book. The two main characters are very likable. Claire is in Highland thinking hard about life choices she needs to make and falling for Holt which ends up affecting her choice. The Christmas spirit in Highland was fun to experience. It was great to be able to visit again with favorite characters from past books in the series as well as getting to meet and get to knew new ones. I highly recommend this book.

A delightful little romance. Claire “Smythe” is a Scottish lass hiding out in Highland Georgia after leaving her Scottish rock band, the Scunners. She is working as a caregiver for the elderly Mrs. Meadows for her room and board. Holt Pierson is running his parents farm as they traipse around the country. Holt meets Claire when she is running errands, and realizes who she is, and that she is hiding secrets. He is intrigued and wants to get to know the mysterious Claire. Claire is a bit neurotic, but as you get to know her, you understand why. Holt is just a delight, handsome, sweet, and an all around good guy. The path to live for these two was fun to follow. This is the third book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. After reading this book, I will definitely be reading the first two. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

I enjoyed reading, A Highlander is Coming to Town. It's not my favorite in the series but I think it's because I miss the Highland games.

What a fun escape read! Claire is a mess and running from her supposed adult life that her parents have laid out since birth. That is full of high expectations and responsibilities. She hides in a small town and starts to find a life she likes but built on lies. She starts to form friendships she never meant to have. Ms. Meadows has given her a hiding place and someone to care for. And then there is drool worthy Holt. Let the fun begin! What happens when her family shows up?

Loved it! A nice fun holiday story that grabbed my attention.

I wanted to like A Highlander is Coming to Town, but I struggled to care about this poor little rich girl romance.

I haven't read the first two books in the series by Laura Trentham, but I think it works as a stand-alone. There are MCs from past books that are woven into this story, but the focus on the book is mainly on Holt and Claire. Which, to be honest, may not have been a good thing...

The story wasn't a bad one, but the chemistry just fell really flat. It all seemed so forced. Claire was extra angsty and hard for me to warm up to, and Holt seemed really focused on her without an apparent reason or any indication that Claire was that into him. I just never connected to the plot or main characters.

With thousands of romance books under my belt, it takes a good deal to impress me. Unfortunately, A Highlander is Coming to Town wasn't it.

A HIGHLANDER IS COMING TO TOWN is author Laura Trentham's third novel in the Highland, Georgia series. I read and reviewed the first one, but somehow missed book #2. This third story reads quite well as a standalone. A couple characters from the first book play a minor role.
The true highlander in this book is the heroine, Claire. She has left Scotland and her wealthy family's whisky empire behind to find what out she really wants. On her twenty-fifth birthday, she will come into her inheritance as long as she goes back home to help run the business. She has changed her last name so people won't know who she is and she can hide.
After using her singing skills and touring with a band called the Scunners, Claire ends up settling in the small town of Highland, Georgia and gets a job taking care of an elderly lady, Mrs. Meadows. She doesn't have much money, so she relies on an old bicycle to get around. After having a mishap with the bike while running some errands for her employer, she ends up accepting a ride from Holt who lives at the nearby farm. She is very nervous about receiving his help, especially after hearing some of Mrs. Meadows tales about his family.
Holt turns about to be a wonderful man. The author has crafted a hero who every woman would want to have in her life. He is caring towards everyone and doesn't put too much pressure on Claire as their relationship grows.
Claire had a childhood of pretty much benign neglect. She is torn about her duties to her family and what will truly give her a sense of peace. Even though I am much older than Claire, I could relate to her dilemma. In life, do we get a chance to follow our passion or get set on a path of what is expected of us.?
Mrs. Meadows may be an elderly lady with health issues, but the author gives her a sometimes gruff exterior that still hides some tenderness and wisdom gathered over the years.
I am writing this during a time of upheaval with coronavirus and political unrest. A sweet love story is always a way for me to feel better and stay away from reading too many upsetting and depressing things.
You will want to grab all the books in this delightful series to brighten up your days.
A big thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for letting me read and review this wonderful book.

This easy to read romance centres around having no sense of belonging, and longing for a place where call home.

Claire is running away and hiding from her prospective future which has already been planned for her. She is determined to keep everyone at arms length, but when she meets Holt, all bets are off. She is torn between family duty and love. Will Holt be able to show her where home really is?

Holt is a lovable gentle giant with a wicked sense of humour. Claire isn't easy to connect with at the begenning. She is indecisive and secretive, but she is also kind.

The beautiful conclusion, and the festive feel makes it a worthwhile read.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

A very well written and entertaining romance. Good plot, fun characters and a beautiful setting. I highly recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

After not loving the first two books in this series, this was the book that rewarded my perseverance. Claire is not planning on staying in Highland which means she is not planning on being drawn to Holt- open, friendly, persistent Holt. However the more he happens to be around just at the exact moment he is needed the harder it is to ignore him. Holt was a lovely hero. Kind and sweet, he was willing to accept whatever Claire had to offer. The problem was that Claire didn’t think it would end up being much. This was a lovely story about a romance but also neighbors and families and what matters most in life. A warm and easy read, perfect for the holidays or anytime you can use a dash of comfort.

This was cute! The Highlander who came to town is actually a Highlander who doesn't want to leave the small town of Highland, Georgia. That's about as complicated as it gets in this book - unless you count feelings and emotions. Claire was part of a band that played a festival in Highland. She stayed behind at the end of the gig and took a job as a home aid to an elderly woman. She has reasons for not wanting to return to Scotland. Add one more reason in the form of Holt, owner of the farm next door to the elderly lady. This is a story of two people who aren't looking for love but isn't that just when it finds you? Laura Trentham's story is filled with heart. It's about finding what's truly important and finding the courage to go for it. If you enjoy small-town contemporary romance series you should check this one out!

A Highlander Is Coming To Town is book 3 in the Highland, Georgia series. I didn't feel lost despite not reading the previous books and I look forward to reading those.

I’m so excited that Holt Pierson finally got his own book. We were first introduced to him, in book 1 of the series, and he was a big part of book 2. He was the sexy farmer next door to Izzy (that has a crush on her) and Anna’s best friend.

Holt has been living day by day. He’s been missing his parents who have retired and have been RV’ing through the states. He’s been lonely. All he has, is the farm that he is responsible for since his parents retired. Everyone needs a Holt in their lives ladies. He is one the most caring open hearted people. Holt first saw Clair on stage performing for the Summer Highland Games as the lead singer. She stole his breathe away, but he thought he would never see her again. Until months later when he ran into her in town, trying to ride a broken down bike, while caring groceries. He just knew he had to help. Even though Claire kept pushing him away. Holt kept offering his assistance.

Clair was in Highland for one thing only, hide from her family and who she really is. She needed to hide and not call attention to herself. She needed time to think before her 25th birthday, when her life would not be hers anymore. Claire kept pushing Holt away, but he just had to be near her and wanted to know everything about her. Where did she come from? What was her story? Why isn’t she touring anymore? Who is Claire? But there was something about Holt that made Clair open up. He felt like home, but she knew that her time in Highland was coming to an end, and she kept telling Holt not to get attached, this was just for fun. But the problem was that she didn’t take her own advice.

How was she going to come clean about everything? Could she step away from her birth right? Would Holt understand after the truth came out? Was love enough? Those were all questions running through Clair’s mind. This book was amazing but I have to say, I would have wanted more at the end. Where are they now? I believe this is the last book in the series and I want to know where they ended up, did they have a family, did Clair and her family get closer. We find out about Izzy and Anna because they appear in all the books after theirs, but Holt and Clair ended after that Christmas.

I enjoyed the beginning and end of this book, but from about 40% to the 88% mark I was struggling. It felt like the middle dragged on, and the end was where the best parts of the story were laid. As a result, it the ending felt rushed. I almost gave up on it, but am glad I didn’t. I liked the story, the characters, and the town: I just wanted more of what was held out until the very end of the book.

Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Laura Trentham for the chance to read a digital ARC of A Highlander is Coming to Town.

The third book in Laura Trentham's Highland, Georgia series follows Claire Smythe, the once lead singer of a Scottish touring band, as she tries to figure out her next step before coming into her inheritance. Claire's plans to keep a low profile while caring for an elderly widow get disrupted by Holt Pierson. Kind and handsome, Holt is determined to get Claire to open up and embrace the caring nature of Highland, Georgia.

Unfortunately I DNF'd the novel around the 30% mark. I didn't enjoy reading from Claire's perspective because she was too abrasive and prickly. I'm sure she has her reasons but I just wasn't in the mood to keep working towards the full reveal of her backstory. Reading from Holt's perspective was a lot easier - he's a great romance hero!

With that said, I've seen quite a few positive reviews so I'm sure this is just a case of "it's not the book, it's me".

Trentham delivers a delightful read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading abut Claire, Ms. Meadows, and Holt. I admire Claire for following her desire amd thwarting her family business obligation. Ms. Meadows initially was crusty, but was just lonely and sad. And then there's Holt. Hunky Holt who is a sexy farmer who kills it in a kilt! The story has it all: family issues, romance, music, and community. I agree with Holt's dad, Jack Daniels is the best whiskey.

The storyline was well written and the characters were very likable, believable and so engaging that Holt and Claire pulled me right into their story as it unfolded!

Sweet and romantic with a touch of heat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you are in the mood for a light-hearted, easy contemporary romance with a touch of flair, this is the one to choose. While this is a third in a series book, it can definitely be read as a stand alone.
Holt really made this story. He is kind and caring without being overwhelming or over bearing. He takes everything in stride and perfectly balances the gruff, standoffish feelings you get from Claire.
Claire wants to hide and not call attention to herself, but the way she goes about it, certainly calls attention to herself too. But once she starts opening up, her sly wit and playful side comes out as well as her passion for Holt.
The author blends a lovely balance between the nervous Claire and the steadfast Holt. With an easy to read style, beautiful character development, along with plenty of spice and heat, the passion flows between the pages.
Holt Pierson is not looking forward to this Christmas. His parents left for Florida for the season and left him in charge of the family farm. He has always done what was expected of him.
Claire Smythe is the lead singer of a touring band. She’s hiding in Highland, Georgia to decide is she wants to join the family business when she turns 25. She is working as a caregiver to Ms. Meadows, a neighbor of Holt’s. Holt helps Claire sort out several problems, including what she wants to do with her life. In the end they have their happily ever after.
This is a sweet, romantic story for those who enjoy them.
