A Highlander is Coming to Town (Highland, Georgia #3) by Laura Trentham I love Highland, Georgia and would loved to live there or at least visit. I hated to put this down to eat or sleep.... I love all the people of Highland and all the feels in this book, tears, fears, hard decisions, laughter, steam, and of course a very HEA.

I have been a fan of Ms. Trentham since her first book.

Claire has secrets and is trying to live her life peacefully, if she is recognized or if someone were to find out who she was, her life would change, again. She is a caretaker for an elderly woman from town.

In walks Holt, ironically the elderly woman is not happy Claire has met him.

Claire knows she can't stay in town, but what will win; love or money?

Claire is an unwilling heir to the Scottish Glennallen whiskey empire. She escaped her families expectations by becoming the lead singer of a Scottish rock band. Her parents agreed to her temporary escape, as long as she agreed to return to Scotland when she turns 25 and inherits her fortune. After tiring of touring with the band, she decides to stay in Highland, GA to hide out until her 25th birthday.

Holt takes over the family farm in Highland, GA after his father semi-retires. He always planned to take over the family farm, but realizes that he is lonely. However, things begin to change for him after he meets Claire. However, Claire tells him that her time in Highland is limited. Despite, Claire’s promises to her family, she falls in love with Holt. Will she fight back against her powerful family and choose love with Holt instead?

This is the third book in a series, but it works as a stand-alone novel. I prefer to grow with these sorts of series, so I'll likely check out the first two at some point.

Clair has a challenge many of us would like to face - a sexy man and grappling with taking a large family inheritance.

Since I read these books to escape, I was there for the steamy romance. It is a fun and flirty read.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

This is the first I've read in Laura Trentham's A Highland, Georgia Novel series. Right off I felt as if the title was misleading, as I kept looking for someone to come to the town. Claire was already there, and had been long enough to find a job with Mrs. Meadows as a her caretaker. Claire's impending life decisions were weighty, but the angst was a little overplayed for me. Holt was an extremely likable character. I am not a fan of the 'steamy' as I feel it detracts from the love story. I wasn't seeing how it could turn out positively, but the resolution was heartwarming. I will look for the other books in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Claire is hiding out in Highland, Georgia to avoid --I mean, think on-- her impending 25th birthday and the fact that she comes into her inheritance: shares in the family whiskey business that ask her to take a role in the business end of the business. Her uncertainty stems from the fact that she has always felt like the black sheep of her family and that she's never felt like she has belonged in her family. So, she spends the last months of 24 being a live-in caregiver to Ms. Meadows, who lives on a farm outside of town. Holt is Ms. Meadows's neighbor with sexy legs and southern hospitality in spades. When Claire finds herself in need of some help, Holt is there, over and over and over again without pushing the tall and very solid walls Claire has built around herself. Over time, Holt starts to tear down those walls. And then sex crumbles them. With Holt's gentleness, Claire finds her confidence and understanding to do what /she/ wants to do-- damn her family and their expectations.

My issues with this story are small in nature and personal in preference:
- The title: "A Highlander Is Coming to Town" indicates that someone is arriving. Claire is already there. She's already /been/ there since the festival ended, and now it's nearing Christmas. That's, like, several months.
- I really can't identify with --and thus don't enjoy-- protagonists who are running from responsibility. They, in my "old soul" opinion, are immature. So, yes, there is a lot of growth that Claire experiences in the story, but I never sympathized with her plight of what do with her inheritance.
- The inheritance is a bit of a plot hold, imo. Claire could have claimed her shares and then sold them to Lachlan, her parents, Dennison, or an outside person. Her situation was not black-and-white like the way she treats it. This just further demonstrates her immaturity. *insert eye roll emoji*

Overall, the tension between Holt and Claire is why you should read this third book in the series. Or skip it if you want more plot that sexy times.

On the chaste to steamy scale, it's about a 5.

So I was able to secure a review copy for an honest review of A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham. Without further ado:
I absolutely loved this book! I'm happy at how the series is progressing and I feel like I've been waiting forever and a day for this book. So enjoyed both of the previous two books, wasn't sure, I was going to like this book as much seeing the preview in the second book and this book's description. However, Trentham has done it again and with the book being such a good time I stayed up all night reading the book. I remember meeting Holt in the first book, A Highlander Walks into a Bar, and knowing I wanted him to star in his own book, so so happy with that story. Can't say enough of how such a great book it is. I would happily recommend this entire series to anyone. The Highland, Georgia series has all the feels and so cute to boot. The characters interact so well and gotta love a happy ending. Also, would recommend reading the stories in order since each book builds on the other with old and new characters coming in for their own scenes.

This is my first venture into the Highlander world, and wow, what I have been missing. Small town charm, quirky/layered characters, and multilayered storylines. The pacing is smooth, the relationships genuine, and the touch of Scots extra fun. Well enjoyed.

Welcome back to highland Georgia. Holt Pierson has lived here his whole live. Things a changing. His friends are finding their significant others. Day in and day out. He is in a rut but doesn't know how to change things. Claire was a singer in the band the Scudders. She decided to leave the band but was stuck in Highland. The Preacher had a job for her. Little did she know that taking care of Ms. Meadows was going to be life changing. The interactions between Holt, Claire and Ms. Meadows will have you laughing. The chemistry between Holt and Claire is just right. The epilogue is just perfect.

This is the first book I’ve read by Trentham. It’s the third in a series, but can be read as a stand alone.

Holt Pierson isn’t looking forward to Christmas without his parents, who took off for Florida and left him running the family farm. Claire Smythe, who used to be the lead singer from a Scottish band, is hiding out in Highland, Georgia while she decides what to do about her upcoming birthday. Because she is turning 25, her inheritance is staring her in the face. She’s been estranged from her parents for years. While hiding out in Highland, working for an older lady who needs help around the house; she meets Holt.

Now she’s not sure what she wants. She’s falling for Holt, but realizes she will have to leave town, so she doesn’t want to get involved.

Do she and Holt find a way to make a relationship work? Will Claire stand up to her parents and reject her inheritance?

I found the book to be quite enjoyable, and I’d like to go back and read the first two books in the series.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing the ARC. This is my honest review.

I loved this story. I could identify with wanting a break from family problems and always feeling your parents love is conditional - based on whether you do what they want or suffer their wrath.

Clair ran away from home after High school in Scotland from her problems and the duty she feels trapped in to because of birth. She wants to find herself and escape the demands her parents and cousin put on her about the family's whiskey business. She was touring America with a local Scottish band for awhile until she became bored with it.. She find herself penniless and working in a small time in America as a companion for an older woman - doing simple cooking, cleaning and basic care for.

Clair soon realizes she has a whole town who care about her, even without letting them know she is a heiress to the biggest Scotch Whiskey company in Scotland. Clair had always felt people only card about her because of her family's money and fame. What she learns is that people care about each other and .don't always care if someone is rich - they look at the person as a whole / the good deeds / love they show towards others.

Clair in the finds a means to connect with her parents and extended family without being their puppet. She also finds the love of her life.

4 Stars!! Great book! This is the 3rd book in the ‘Highland, Georgia’ series. I read book 1 but missed book 2! This can definitely be read as a standalone! I really enjoyed Clare and Holts story! It’s always nice to get away by reading a good book! (Especially when you are in lockdown thanks to a certain virus!) The people in Highland, GA are so nice, it makes me want to visit Georgia! I loved Ms.Meadows!! She has a sad story too! I’d like to know more about Clare’s cousin Lachlan, maybe next book??!! I definitely recommend this book! It’s really cute and Holt is such a sweet guy!

Terrific addition to this series! Same full, interesting characters and witty dialogue, but a different more emotional tone. Claire is running away from family expectations and obligations. Estranged from her family, she leads a lonely, cautious existence. Holt embraced his obligations to the family farm and is content, but lonely too. His patents are semi-retired and traveling. Being a close family, he misses them. Add in the delightful and familiar citizens of the quirky southern town of Highland, GA and it’s a book that is hard to put down.

A Highlander is Coming To Town is a fantastic contemporary romance by Laura Trentham. Ms. Trentham has provided readers with a well-written book. I love the characters in this story. Claire has felt neglected by her parents her whole life and lands in Highland, Georgia after quitting as the lead singer of the band she traveled with. Holt has spent his life in Highland, farming with his parents. His parents are off touring the US so he's running the farm on his own. Claire and Holt's story is packed with drama, humor, spice and a little suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to my next book by Laura Trentham. A Highlander Is Coming To Town is book 3 of the Highland, Georgia Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A handsome guy in a kilt is a sight to stir a woman’s blood and Holt Pierson is no slouch in the legs department. Or tush either, truth be told. At least that’s Claire’s assessment. In “A Highlander is Coming to Town” Claire has been laying low in Highland Georgia after leaving a touring group in which she was singing. Finding herself stranded in Highland with no place to stay and no visible means of support, she takes a temporary job as caregiver to old Ms. Meadows who is mostly bedridden and a bit of a curmudgeon. Claire rides an old bicycle to run errands for herself and Ms. Meadows. After getting run off into a ditch by a carload of yahoos, Holt happens along and gives her and her mangled bike a ride home. He’s taken with her immediately but Claire is reticent and loathe to give up personal information and background. Yes, she’s hiding out. But from whom or what? Holt is determined to follow through on his desire for Claire as well as to gain her trust so she will be honest and open with him.. But what is the big secret she’s hiding?

Author Laura Trentham captures the essence of small town living where everyone knows not only their neighbors but everyone else in town too. The closeness, the nosiness that is a natural facet of that closeness, the community spirit and willingness to help a neighbor or friend in need are all a part of the fabric of small town living. Her characters are well rounded and authentic, flaws and all. Holt is the quintessential All-American good guy while Claire carries an aura of mystery with her. She purposefully dresses down so as to not call attention to herself, which to my mind, has the opposite effect. I especially liked the stages of Claire’s development as the story moved along although I felt that her reluctance to trust men in general was never fully explained or developed. And, while the ending is an HEA, it wasn’t the outcome I was expecting. And maybe that’s a good thing since it probably would’ve been too much of a cliche. Four stars.

A middle of the road romance with elements I loved and aspects that didn't hold my interest. Holt was a wonderful character and I loved him, Claire was a bit whiny, in my opinion. For all the secretive aspects she exhibits I was expecting something a bit more sinister and wanted to tell her to put on her big girl panties and make some tough calls. The background characters were more engaging than Claire. (I really didn't connect with her.) The romance was sweet, the setting was picturesque, and the author brings a well-paced descriptive touch to her writing.

A "Highlander is Coming to Town", by Laura Trentham (St. Martin’s Press), features a great hero, a regular guy who, besides being the handsome, sexy guy we expect, is also a good man, unashamedly pining for the heroine.
Holt is very well written, a compelling character who makes mistakes but has a refreshing honesty about them and life in general. The way he falls head over heels for Claire is sweet and endearing. He’s just an affectionate, funny, very down-to-earth person, which makes him a very likable and relatable character.
Claire is also an interesting character, who grows and changes throughout the story; she’s dealing with a lot of baggage, but her issues really didn’t grab my interest.
I liked the way their relationship progressed, the small town dynamics and the secondary characters.

A book in a series, this one flipped the script a bit by having the Claire be the Highlander hiding her true identity. Instantly she connects with Holt Pierson and he slowly brings her out of her shell. Along the way, she develops bonds with Mrs. Meadows and Anna, and realizes what she wants for her future. A bit formulaic but a nice light read.

We finally get a love interest for Holt, I liked him from the very first book. Holt notices Claire and she truly does need his help but she doesn't really want to be noticed since she is hiding out. Claire comes from a super rich family and is tired of living for them. So she is in the town and ends up having friends, people to care for and who care for her. I loved reading about Anna from previous books, but was bummed that we didn't get anything from Izzy and her mom who were a big part of this town. anywho it is enjoyable.
