The Bone Witch is a tantalizing combination of witches, curses and an incredible start to the Bone Witch trilogy. I loved the world building and the epic feels while reading the start to Tea's story. Her journey is just beginning in this powerful story and I am already hooked! I can't wait for more!

4 stars!

I enjoyed reading the third book in this series by Laura Trentham. The story takes place in Highland, Georgia, a town that celebrates all things Scottish. Each book is a standalone and can easily be read without reading the others. I enjoyed this cute, small town romance with many enjoyable characters. You will enjoy the happily ever after.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

What I like most about this book is the charming characters and the cast secondary characters. I like the way Holt and Claire have such chemistry. I like the way the story moves quickly and smoothly and how the writer uses the words to paint pictures of the characters. The book is quite intriguing, It is likeable., just like the characters are likeable.

Whilst this one works well enough as a standalone, it didn’t really work for me. I found it very hard to be impressed or sympathetic towards Claire’s poor little rich girl routine and her constant whining drove me insane. Her habit of hiding and her general distrust of everyone also got old after a while and I found myself more annoyed than enamoured by her. I just wanted to shake her and she really didn’t grow on me at all.

Claire spends much of the book being very closed off and that made it hard for me to really believe in their romance. Holt just seems to be very into her, with no feedback from Claire, or even any reason for his attraction in the first place. The intimate scenes between them are all pretty vague and they could really have done with fleshing out to make Claire and Holt’s relationship more believable and organic.

I did end giving this one 3 stars because I did enjoy the festive atmosphere and I did like the town spirit and Holt also had some pretty cute moments. But overall this one just didn’t work for me, I couldn’t connect to either of the main characters and Claire remained to unlikeable throughout for me to root for her and their romance.

This one took me awhile to start.  I did not finish book two in the series, so it made me reluctant to start book three, but I ended up enjoying this one. It was cute and sweet and romantic. The passion was good, if maybe a bit tame, and the characters were entertaining. I liked the plot of a girl who has a hard decision to make about what she wants her life to be - what her parents want it to be and what she might want it to be, so it was a story of discovery. She finds her happiness in Highland, Georgia and the courage to take her life into her own hands and find happiness along the way.  Cute, sweet, and had a small home-town feel to it.  No serious drama or conflicts, just Claire having to decide what she really wanted in life.

One of my favorite reads of 2020. I love this series and this book just added to why I love it so much. Funny as heck characters that get into even funnier situations and a heartbeat skipping romance.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

You can't go wrong with a Highlander for the holidays.... but that was not the issue I had with the story.

I wasn't a fan of Claire at all. She rubbed me the wrong way and I just didn't like her attitude and it made it hard to stay engaged in the story. It was an okay read, but it wasn't really for me.

I love Laura Trentham's ability to inhabit an entire world so quickly. I know I read the other books in this series, but I don't have a lot of memories of them. No matter - I was able to fall quickly back into this world and loose myself in the story. Enjoyable and warm, just like every other Trentham book, and I'm grateful for her consistency.

Laura Trentham has me totally invested in this wonderful series. I am loving the our Scots and everything they bring to this story. Holt and Claire’s story was a little different from the first two but it was wonderful all the same.

I loved how Ms. Trentham let us into both Claire and Holt’s life. She made us understand the difference between the two and how those differences can be overcome with a little bit of love and a whole lot of understanding. I adored the characters that surrounded both of them and how much they helped shape the people that they are. The story-line was packed. From magical moments to heart-felt moments, you couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters and the meaning behind the story.

Visiting with past characters was just an added bonus. Meeting new ones was even better; giving hope that there will be more to this series. I loved how she brought everyone and everything together in the end. It gave you hope that people could overcome the past, accept the present and look forward to the future.

A good solid read. Love that Holt Pierson got his own book and that he gets to meet Claire Smythe who turns his world upside down. But will Holt be able to get to know the real Claire as she is hiding from something and she doesn't want his help. Claire knows that she can trust Holt but she is still knows that she needs to go back to Scotland and she just can't get involved. But the more time they spend together the stronger the flame becomes but will it all work out in the end?
A good flow to the story loved seeing their relationship grow.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

We finally get Holt's story! Oh, we have been wondering about serious, dependable Holt throughout this series. Is he a fuddy-duddy? Or is there more than meets the eye? He definitely needed Claire to bring color to his life. These two were perfect for each other. This book was delightful and the perfect end to kick the 2020 Xmas Blues!

Claire has never felt that she belongs – not with her rich family, their rich friends, their business and how society expects her to behave. She loves performing but she is stuck at a point in her life where she is struggling with how she should move forward – does she carve her own future or does she cave and take her place in the family business. She finds her way to the small town of Highland, Georgia, a place where she can hide and attempt to work her way mentally and emotionally through her problems and what she really wants from her future.

Holt is the sweet, sexy guy next door that you just can’t help but love. He has struggled with his own past, a future that has been written in stone for him since birth but a future he fully embraces. He is lonely, he has some friends but being in charge of the farm takes up a lot of his time (especially given that his parents are always on the road). He has a chance encounter with Claire and this sends them both down a road that neither saw coming and neither is quite sure that they are ready for (love can be frightening!).

This is a light, fun read that makes it a perfect curl up on the couch with a cup of coffee and read (especially now with the change in weather!). It made me laugh and it made me want to shake Claire’s shoulders (how could she not see how perfect Holt was for her?). The novel is well written and keeps you on your toes, you are never quite sure what Claire will do. I loved watching our main characters grow in this novel – they are from perfect, they struggle and make bad decisions, but in the end can they find a way to make it work?

This was such a fun romantic comedy that had me laughing and smiling throughout.
A feel good pick-me-up novel.

I received a copy of this from Netgalley in exchange for fair and honest review.

What a great holiday read. I really enjoy this little town and the fun characters that make it up. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy Holt's story as much as the first two but I really did. I also enjoyed seeing a little bit more of the previous couple.

A Highlander is Coming to Town is book 3 in the Highland, Georgia series by Laura Trentham. What a wonderful series!

Up next is Holt Pierson, Highland Georgia resident and Clair Smythe, lead singer of the Scottish touring band looking for a place to hide...

Stand alone, sweet, hiding out, secrets, romantic comedy, characters from prior books and life in a small town...

I thoroughly enjoy the Highlander series by Laura Trentham. Holt and Claire's story did not disappoint. I love the little town of Highland, GA and all the characters. Laura brings them to life and you feel like you're there. A great escape read!

A lighthearted small town romance is just what the doctor ordered, and when you add in just a bit of holiday, it's even better. A Highlander is Coming to Town is part of a series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. Holt is the shining star of this book. He's sweet and pretty easy going. Claire, on the other hand, drove me a little crazy. She's hard to warm up to in the beginning, and I really just wanted to shake the daylights out of her, but I did eventually turn around and started rooting for this couple. The story is pretty lighthearted, and it's a fun, easy read, and once I warmed up to Claire, I could see how good the chemistry between the characters really is. I'm new to this author and this series, but I'll certainly be checking out more of both.

I received an early release copy through #NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed Claire's and Holt's story. This story captures the ideas of wanting to make it on your own and do things your own way. I liked that about Claire, and I really enjoyed seeing her character grow during the storyline. She is definitely a messy, feisty character that I would love to meet in real life.

I like Holt too, but I do feel this story revolves more around Claire than Holt. I felt he had so much patience. He really is a true gentleman.

The quality of the writing is good. I would recommend the book. The plot is solid, and the characters grow. My favorite part is the reconciliation scene near the end. As I don't like to give away too much in my reviews, it is well worth a little effort to get there. The book does have some sluggish parts.

However, the steamy scenes are WELL worth the slower areas.

Definitely recommend, and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author!

This was a really good book despite me not reading the previous books. I still was able to enjoy the book.
It had all the feels going for it.

Off to read the others
