I really enjoyed Claire and Holt’s story. Having not read previous stories in this series, it was really easy for me to pick this up and understand the dynamics of the characters and this small Scottish-made town of Highland, Georgia.
Definitely, 5 stars!!!

This was my first time reading a Laura Trentham novel, so I was reading this without reading the first two in the series. This wasn’t a problem and I enjoyed the pacing and interactions between the main characters. A simple, cozy, funny, heartwarming read perfect for this time of year. I intend to read more from this author.

I was provided an ARC by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Holt was born in Highland, GA and loves to work on his families farm. Claire was a lead singer in a Scottish band and is now caring for an elderly lady hiding out in Highland. This book just didn't do it for me, I spent almost a month trying to get through it. I wasn't invested in any of the characters and I had a hard time with Claire. Sorry wish I loved this book more.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved all the characters and found myself rooting for all of them to get their happily ever after! Holt is a local in Highland. Clair is hiding out and trying to stay under the radar while she makes a big decision about her future. She's been taking care of an older woman and laying low, but Holt is trying his best to get her to open up to him. Their story is very cute. I wanna go back and read the other stories in the series!

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham is a sweet romance. The heroine is struggling her way through life more so than her hot hero. There's an instant attraction towards and yet she runs away with her tail tucked between her legs. Claire is determined to make it through life on her own without any help. Especially, from a sexy Scott like Holt. Holt scares her. He's not scary but the reaction he causes within her scares her away from him. Claire doesn't want complications and Holt would definitely become one. Holt is a great hero. He too has his struggles. However, he holds up better than Claire does. I liked the way he came to her aide despite her brush off mannerisms. Most men would walk away with her rudeness. Overall, the story was character driven, fun, and entertaining. It was a good contemporary romance feature Highlanders.

After leaving the band, lead singer Claire Smythe is stranded in Highland, Georgia with no money, no place to live, and no job prospects. The Highland Games had been a great gig, but Claire was struggling with a difficult decision and needed to hide out for a while, and she believed Highland would be perfect. The local minister suggested a position as a caregiver for an elderly woman, and Claire settled in, doing the cooking and shopping though she had little experience. Once she met Holt Pierson, though, Claire was completely conflicted. She had family responsibilities back home in Scotland that she couldn’t avoid forever, and yet Holt was everything she had ever wanted in a man.

Holt Pierson had never expected to be so attracted to Claire. He remembered her band performing at the Highland Games, and had been impressed by her voice and her stage presence. She was a bit standoffish, though, difficult to get to know, and yet he was still intrigued, knowing she would confide in him about her past when the time was right. Until then, he would keep his counsel, work the family farm, and keep a close eye on Claire and Mrs. Meadows for as long as necessary.

I just finished this feel-good book, and I’m still smiling. I love a good romance with an HEA, and this one did not disappoint. Claire’s dilemma on returning to her responsibilities in Scotland or staying in Highland, Georgia was woven throughout the story, and I appreciated the love and loyalty shown by Anna, Iain, and other members of Highland society. Holt’s determination to discover more about Claire and hopefully have her stay in Highland was a driving force, and his devotion to his parents and to the family farm was admirable. Laura Trentham has written a delightful story that is sweet, loving, and perfect for the season.

When Claire Smythe quits running and decides to hide out in the small town of Highland, Georgia to figure out what she wants to do when she comes of age, little does she know that Holt Pierson has questions of his own. While Claire takes a job staying with Holt's neighbor, she begins to realize what getting attached and belonging to a community feels like. Will she be able to let down her guard with Holt and the rest of Highland, or will she start running again? This is a fun, festive Christmas story that gives you all the feels.

This has been a fun series to read and I enjoy the ties between Scotland and this town in Georgia.

If you delve into this series, make sure to start with the first book since the characters continue from book to book and there is a little bit of an introduction into the various characters. I haven't read the second book (this is book 3) and I feel like I missed something regarding Claire and her decision to leave the band she was singing with and hide out in Highland. There are some mentions of running from her family and the obligation, but I don't know what caused her to leave the band.

I enjoyed watching the interaction between Claire and Holt. They definitely have some sizzling chemistry, but Claire's walls hold him back from having a serious relationship. Claire's secret is holding her back from a full relationship with him or anyone else. It is a shame that she feels she has to hide away from those in town and dress in clothing that disguises who she is. But time helps her realize what she wants out of life.

I think one character that steals the book is Mrs. Meadows that Claire lives with and is assisting with various tasks around her house. She is a feisty woman that has endured a lot in her life and we get a glimpse of those tragedies. She isn't afraid to stand up to Holt in the beginning for the wrongs his family had done to her in the past. Thankfully, she is a smart woman and moves past those.

If you are looking for an escape this might be a good choice to pick up.  We give this book 4 paws up.

A fun, light-hearted read.

Angsty heroine who is hiding out from her family and the secret she doesn't want anyone in Highland Falls to discover and the farmer neighbor who can't get her out of his head. Secrets be damned.

I enjoyed this story, perhaps not as much as I enjoyed the first book in the series but still worth picking up!

Not sure how I missed the second book of this series but picked up with book 3 and enjoyed this story of a whiskey heiress finding love while on the run from the family and business decisions she needed to make by her 25th birthday.

Trentham captures the Scottish Christmas spirit in Highland – or at least what I perceive to be the Scottish Christmas spirit. This installment is a close focus novel with much of the action taking place between Holt and Claire. While I missed the town, I loved the chance to dive deeper into the hero and heroine. Perfect for anyone in need of some Scottish Christmas spirit.

Claire is going by the last name of Smythe. Her real name is Glennallen, of the family of Glennallen Whisky in Scotland. Running away has been her life for several years and now her time is almost up to decide what to do. Go back to Scotland and the business or stay in Highland, Georgia. As Claire starts making friends and opens her heart, it's even harder to think of leaving. When you fall in love with the sweetest man in Highland, how can you go, especially at Christmas. Funny one minute and sad the next, you're always rooting for Claire to stay. I read this is in one afternoon.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This was such a pleasant story. As a Georgia girl who has been to Highland I was so excited to dive in.

I am.a sucker for a second chance story. Claire going out for what she wanted, even though she was scared was such a great storyline. I adored Claire.

Holt was dreamy and the chemistry he had with Claire was off the charts. I love that this qualifies as a "holiday book" but really I would encourage you to devour it anywhere.

Thank you St Martin's Press and Netgalley for the advanced galley for my honest opinion.

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham is the 3rd book in the Highland, Georgia romantic comedy series. I loved this book it has everything you want in a romantic comedy book. This book is easy to read, fast-paced, that kept me reading page after page. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, if it's as good as this one. The chemistry between Holt and Claire jumps out of the page it is so strong. I highly recommend this book for any one who enjoys rom-coms.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

While I thought the writing and storyline of this book were good, the chemistry was in my opinion, kind of bland. I liked the small town setting, the holiday theme and the hero, Holt. He came across as very genuine and he had a big heart. Claire for me was just OK. I personally found her a tad annoying. So all together I'd call this a 50/50 split.

In this book, we return to the small and quirky Highland, Ga. Claire Smythe, the Scottish lead singer of the Scunners, left the band and decided to hide out in the small town, until her 25th birthday, when she must make a decision about her inheritance as an heiress to the Glennallen Whisky family. Meanwhile she is working as a helper to Ms Meadows , an elderly widow. While trying to hide out from her family, a family where she never felt a part of, she comes on the radar of home grown farmer Holt Pierson, the current Laird of the Games, from the Highland festival. Claire is embraced by Holt and Ms Meadows and feels more at home with them than she ever had her own family, but her deadline is approaching.

This is a very sweet story about two strangers who come from totally different backgrounds discovering how much they have in common. Lots of lol moments, charming characters and an engaging plot. I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

I cannot be the only one who wasn’t sure about Holt at the beginning of this series. Of course, by the end of the first book he had endeared himself to me. But still, would I be able to fall in love with him as the main character of a story? Why yes, yes I would.

This is a touching Christmas story. It has all of the elements to tug at your heartstrings and give you a warm feeling in your heart and soul. We have the lonely hero who is friends with everyone, but has nobody of his own. There’s the feisty heroine who has never really felt unconditional love and acceptance from her family, but has no problem (even unintentionally) creating a chosen family to surround her. Don’t worry, there’s even a cranky old lady who actually has a heart of gold that helps these two find their way to one another.

What I love about this story is the way Claire’s secret is handled. Holt knew she had a secret going in, he was aware there were aspects of her life and past she was not yet able or willing to discuss. One of the issues I had with the first book was the secret keeping. In this story it was handled in a much better way for the type of reader I am. Sure, I felt Claire could have easily told Holt some things sooner and he would have been fine with that. But it’s okay that she didn’t since he knew she was holding back. In other words, her secrets were no secret.

There was another reason to love Holt after reading this book. Holt had a great childhood. He’s very close to his parents and looks up to his father, always has. That did not make him blind to some of the mistakes his father may have made over the years when it came to their neighbors. And Holt wasn’t afraid to call his dad on these issues. Part of that is because Holt is an extremely honorable and moral man. And part of that is because Holt always had his parents’ unconditional love, therefore he wasn’t afraid to tell them the truth when something about their actions bothered him. It’s really such a subtle and, most likely, overlooked aspect of this story.

Now that this series seems to be over, I need to look at reading some of this author’s other work. I’ve been enjoying her writing style and the way she is able to write such amazing chemistry between her characters.

A Highlander is Coming to Town is the third book in the Highland, Georgia series. I am a fan of small town romance stories. This series has become one of my favorites.

Ms. Trentham is very skilled in character and storyline development.

Claire Smythe has a secret. Highland, Georgia seems like a good place to keep a low profile until she decides what she wants to do with her life. Holt Pierson will inherit his family farm, but he’s not sure he wants to be a farmer for the rest of his life. Two people with difficult decisions to make.

A Highlander is Coming to Town can be read as a stand-alone, but you won’t want to miss the first two books.
