Kind of an Anastasia retelling. Different, and okay for what it was. I'm a little over the h always being captured by the bad guy. But it was okay. I would have liked an epilogue to all the books in this series.

Kate Bateman's "The Princess and the Rogue," the third installment in the Bow Street Bachelors Series, unfolds the captivating tale of Princess Anastasia Denisova and Sebastien Wolff, the Earl of Mowbray. As a dedicated Bow Street Runner, Sebastien becomes increasingly suspicious of Anna, and the intricate blend of her deepening emotions for him and her involvement in his investigation exposes her to imminent danger. This book is a treasure trove of captivating elements, perfect for enthusiasts of passionate historical romance.

I adored Seb and Anya! Their fiery interactions from the start were entertaining. This book was so good and sucked me in from the beginning. It was interesting to see when Seb would find out the truth and what he’d do once he did. The added tension of someone being after Anya made the book speed along. It was such a fun, fast paced, steamy as heck read and I cannot wait to read more of Kate Bateman’s books!

Just not my kind of hero, arrogant, slutty and vulgar in the wrong way there’s a way I do like a rogue done and this wasn’t for me.

3.5 stars because I wasn't a fan of Sebastian through most of the book. He was very condescending and pursued Anya because he wanted her and thought she was below him. Once he found out she was a Princess, he was mad at her for lying about it, yet he had no remorse for his pursuit or talking down to her. He was very protective, and he got points for that. I did like Anya. She was brave and smart, though she should have done better toward the end. She had a brief TSTL moment LOL Thankfully her wits, and Sebastian, came thru.

This was better than the second book in the Bow Street Bachelors series, but only because I liked the chemistry between Seb and Anya. The plot moves quickly and there’s some fun dialogue between the H/h, but even for a historical romance, the storyline was utterly ridiculous. I almost threw the book across the room at the big twist.

Bateman’s books have gotten better over time, with her Ruthless Rivals series being superior to this series, so I’ll be on the lookout for new books, but I don’t think I’ll be digging any further into her backlist.

Hello,

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

Princess Anastasia Denisova is visiting Paris with her friend Elizaveta. Her brother Dimitri was pronounced dead at Waterloo. A Russian villain named Petrov comes to pursue Anya, and he ends up getting hit in the head with a vase. Anya determines she needs to pretend her death in order to escape Petrov. Unfortunately, she doesn't feel she can return to Russia safely. She escapes to England and takes a job as a companion to a dowager countess.

Sebastien Wolff, Earl of Mawbray and joint owner of the Tricorn Club, enjoys being a bachelor. After receiving permanent damage to his left ear while in the Rifles, he engages in investigations on behalf of the foreign office. While visiting a local brothel, he runs into Anya and mistakes her for a lady of the night. They exchange a passionate kiss, but nothing else.

Anya's dowager countess happens to be the great aunt of Wolff. While going to escape to the country for fresh air, the dowager countess and Anya run into highwaymen. Wolff manages to kill two of the three. It is determined that the men were after Anya, and she needs to stay at the Tricorn until it is safe for her to return to society.

At this point, the romance turns into a close proximity and slow burn. Two of my favorite things! Plus Wolff takes it upon himself to act as a bit of a bodyguard to Anya. The building passion between these two is palpable. Meaningful caresses turn to long embraces. It's the kind of build up that just makes you want to keep reading to see what happens.

I will say my favorite scene is there initial coming together. It is the best initial love making scene I have ever read! Wolff is amazingly considerate! All I have to say is the chair. Read it. You will understand.

Kate Bateman does a fantastic job of wrapping up this trilogy series. I love Anya and Wolff's story. It is probably my favorite of the three. It is definitely worth the read, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

THE PRINCESS AND THE ROGUE - Kate Bateman

#3 in the Bow Street Bachelors Regency Romance series

GREAT CHARACTERS - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - When Princess Anastasia from Russia's last remaining male relative is killed at Waterloo, she must go into hiding to avoid marriage with a high-ranking Russian bully. But he comes close to discovering her in England, and that's where the Earl of Mowbray steps in to protect her.

Writing - 4 stars - As usual, Bateman grabbed my attention right from the first page. There's intrigue and action and a strong chemistry between the two main characters, all of which held my attention throughout.

Characters - 4 stars - This is where the story shone or me. Anya is strong and determined despite her privileged upbringing. She wants to live her normal life, but she is forced to be in hiding in poor circumstances because of the man searching for her. Seb is an excellent hero. He wants answers, which makes him a good Bow Street investigator, but it also makes him dangerous to Anya. I loved watching them since they're so explosive together and was definitely rooting for their success.

Title - 4 stars - Pretty self-explanatory.

Cover - 3 stars - The cover is less than ideal. It is a typical Regency romance pose, and the blurriness and pale colors definitely do not draw the eye.

Overall - 4 stars - This was a very nice finale to what has been an enjoyable series. We finally get to know Sebastien, the adamant bachelor and best friend of our previous heroes. He certainly gets more than he bargained for when he finds himself attracted to a beautiful woman. Their sexual chemistry is over the top, and the romantic scenes are hot! And I enjoyed seeing the differences between the English and Russians, which made for some fascinating knowledge about Russian traditions. The threat of exposure and kidnapping by Petrov added plenty of excitement, including some action scenes that kept the story moving forward quickly. It was great to revisit with characters from previous books, and I enjoyed this one very much despite being disappointed that it is the last one in this series.

Another AMAZING romance from Kate Bateman! Omg the meet cute of this book just sets the tone for this romance and I loved it so much. Sebastian works for Bow Street and ends up having to protect Anya after people attempt to kidnap her. She is the lost Russian princess, but she is doing everything in her power to protect her identify. I loved how she had to stay at Sebastian's house to stay safe and there was undeniable attraction between them. She knows, though, they could never be together because of who she is. There were bad guys chasing after them and she had to find a way to prove the bad guy was actually a traitor to her country. I loved the action and the forced proximity and the banter between Anya and Sebastian. There was never a slow moment int his book and the ending was ADORABLE. If you haven't read this book yet, you have to pick it up!

I cannot wait to read more books from Ms Bateman! This book was amazing. I was hooked from page one and could not put it down.
I loved princess Anya's character. She was strong, resilient and witty. Wolff was handsome, fearsome and romantic. Their banter and their interactions. I also adored all of the other characters throughout the story. I cannot wait for more!

Was an edge of your seat read from beginning to end and so entertaining. Action packed, sexy, exciting and emotionally thrilling adventure filled with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twists and undeniable passion.

Was all set to give this book a high rating until it got to the part where the hero finds out about the heroine's identity...and suddenly, this strong, take-no-prisoners man starts to get mired in insecurity and all sorts of mental faffing that just makes absolutely no sense! Lost its sparkle for me from this point, and I just couldn't stomach it anymore, unfortunately

I wanted to like this book, but just didn't. The plot grabbed my attention right away...a Russian princess trying to evade a bad guy goes undercover and meets an Earl in a brothel. However, I did not like Sebastian, the hero. He was a bore.

The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman follows the romantic story of Seb and Ana/Anna. Ana is undercover just as Seb and I find that utterly delightful! This book didn't quite incinerate my brain but I did like it and would recommend.
