I received an ARC for a review. I absolutely hated this book. I was hopeful for a good romantic suspense instead what I got was a headache and sometimes confusion. Word did not have all their letters so I was stuck trying to figure out what they was supposed to be. Sentences were just dropped without finishing. The word Fine was over used by the end of the book I hated that word. I never felt any love between the MC’s. And the female main character is supposed to be this smart hacker but she came off to be very stupid

The third Callahan brother, Gage, gets his story when he is tasked to find a hacker, Dani, who is working for his client and ends up chasing her from Europe to Alaska. Only to find out that he got there just in time to save her from someone who wants the project she is working on and dead. Dani is running for her life, just narrowly missing being run over, finding her apartment broken into and Gage on her doorstep to get her out of Alaska before the bad guys finish the job.
I enjoyed this read, the action and suspense starts right from the first page and keeps going, keeping me glued to this read. I liked these two, their banter and how they both try to fight their attraction throughout but don’t deny their true feelings to themselves. The sparks and steam were there between them and I liked the bit of vulnerability they both showed the other, his adverse feelings to hackers and her fear of the water.
The book flowed beautifully which had steam, suspense, betrayals, some laughs, and a few scenes that had my eyes misty and one that had my heart breaking for Dani.

I originally reviewed this book based on a corrupted kindle file. The publisher then got in touch and kindly sent me a clean copy so I only think it fair to come back and amend my review.

I am so glad they got in touch as the storyline intrigued me. I didn’t realise it was a series when requesting the book but I am going to look into downloading book 1 and 2 as Mitch and Logan were great characters for the brief amount they were in the storyline.

Gage and Dani are both stubborn characters who fight for what they believe in. However, there is a hidden vulnerability in both of them which slowly becomes exposed. The ending of the book in particular is emotional!

The book kept me on my toes even though I had an idea of who the mole was. I particularly loved Dottie and her pals.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

I enjoyed this book, but I didn’t love it as wholeheartedly as I wanted to. I really liked Gage and I thought he got the crappy end of the stick with this assignment. Dani just pushed all of my buttons the wrong way. I don’t have a lot of patience with characters (especially heroines) that are too stupid to live. And it pushes me into the deep end when those actions put others in danger. Considering the actions that we see in this book and the ones we’re told of, there’s a part of me that’s surprised Dani survived the previous two books to star in this one. I also wasn’t really feeling the connection between our romantic leads. I get the instant attraction. I get that Gage’s protective instincts are triggered. But I wasn’t getting love from them. Heck, I wasn’t seeing “like” from them for most of the book. I thought that the villain of this story was very easy to spot, and I was quite surprised that this talented group of professionals took so long to figure it out. My favorite part of this book was the supporting cast. The “little old ladies” were far and away the best parts of this story. Even though the Callahan brothers are all paired off now, I hope this isn’t the last book in the Callahan Security series. There are still staff members that I’m curious about and would love to read their stories.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through NetGalley.

Will they find in themselves to accept the other completely...

I confess I had this book downloaded but it’s Netgalley release date was set in two weeks. Yet an other author sponsored it as being released yesterday.
Gosh!
So I switched my reading schedule to add it for today.
I did not know the author but from time to time, I love a good romantic suspense.
Dani and Gage are two persons very set on their way, both so stubborn they will nearly blow to dust their relationship before understanding how each was relying on the other.
Dani did not grew up in a loving environment, so after the abuse she suffered in her foster home, it is understandable she could not follow a straightforward path. She made herself and choose her own path. Not a clear road but one bordering shadows and laws.
Gage is the down to the rules guy, he believes in laws and justice not in chaos. He is honorable and his words are vows he always keeps.
So Dani is his antithesis, worse his nemesis since his best friend’s death.
It was fun to watch them working together, trusting then doubting, going for the jugular then putting their life in the line of sight.

I haven’t read the previous books but Gage’s brothers were fun. While the end contains the most of the emotional scenes.
4.25 stars

I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Wild Coyote Press, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Hit & Run is a book that is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

A quick aside: I will admit that going into this read, I did not realize it was the third in the series. This is an issue that was 100% on me because I simply didn’t pay attention. I didn’t find out until I actually went to post my review on GoodReads and read someone else’s review that mentioned this. That alone should speak to the fact that Ms. Matthews did an excellent job making Hit & Run function fully as a standalone, something that can be hard to do.

Now for the actual review:

I’m a huuuuuge fan of romantic suspense. Huge. So when I read the blurb, I snatched this bad boy off of NetGalley with a swiftness. Add in a bit of enemies-to-lovers and I am digging it big time.

In the beginning we meet a grumpy Gage. Which I find entirely too charming. Okay, that’s not the actual beginning, the actual beginning involves a body flying through the air, but I digress…

Our boy has a legitimate reason to be a bit ticked off after scouring Europe for a woman he’s been hired to protect only to learn she was in the US. Let’s not forget that once he finally finds Dani, he gets a shaky shotgun pointed directly at his forehead and… Yeah, I kinda understand the grump.

Dani is a genius hacker who… has made some bad decisions. Some very bad decisions. Since I know people in real life who are very smart and completely lack common sense, I have lumped Dani into that category. Sorry, doll, you can’t “borrow” secret code from a government and expect it to all be peachy keen.

Yep, she did that.

And now that she has people after her to the extent that they killed her doppelganger in a hit and run, Gage is charged with protecting her. They flee the Alaska town where Dani had been hiding to try to find some place that is safe enough to regroup, eliminate the threat, and get her back to her normal life.

But, their time on the run has resulted in a spark that turned into a massive flame as the chemistry between them exploded on the page.

Ms. Matthews does an exceptional job of world-building and her descriptions are so lush and rich that I am green with envy over her immense gift with words. You are immediately sucked into Gage and Dani’s world… for better or worse.

Hit & Run is a fast-paced romantic suspense with a delicious enemies-to-lovers trope and a deep looming threat that Ms. Matthews did an excellent job chilling my bones with.

While many people reviewing have said that they had no problem following along even though they hadn't read the previous books in this series I didn't have that problem as I am a firm reader of the series as in i have read both of the previous books about the Callahan Security firm. Like the others in this series this is an action packed story with a healthy dose of romance.

Gage Callahan isn't to happy he has spent all his time traipsing over Europe only to find that the hacker he has been tasked with protecting has been in Alaska all the time but he has finally tracked her down and now he can do his job. Dani Pierce is ion the final stages of perfecting a facial recognition program governments want it but criminals and terrorists don't Soon she is the cross hairs of those that want to stop her and it will be up to Gage to keep her safe So they are soon on the run but romance blossoms and soon Dani is more than a contract to Gage Can he keep her safe You will have to read to see

Daniella (Dani) is a computer programmer/hacker. Gage Callahan is one of 3 brothers who own the Callahan Security Company. Gage has been all over Europe seeking Dani as she is in danger while she creates a software program for their friend Drake. Now Dani is actually in Alaska running from the danger she has found herself in. When these two finally meet up sparks fly but egos get in the way. As Dani and Gage leave Alaska her skills come in handy to protect them from danger and continues right till the conclusion of who is behind what and why. I love the characters whose personalities and reasons for their actions are well developed, you like and root for them both to get out of trouble and to realize they are right for each other. Though the 3rd book in the series it did fine as a standalone. I hope we see many more books from Lori Matthews.

This is a well-written story. I really liked the two main characters, Danielle Pierce and Gage Callahan. I kept rooting for them as I read. There's plenty of action and the storyline is fast-paced. This is the third book in Ms. Matthews' Callahan Security series. I haven't read the first two books in the series but I believe this book works as a standalone.

Managed to read this on a different device after some technical difficulties. Fun read through maybe not my typical choice for romance. Would recommend for anyone that likes a bit of action with your love story.

Dani's an excellent hacker whose work has placed her in a bit of danger. Gage is hired by Dani's client to keep her safely out of harm's way. Although this book is part of a series, this was my first and I followed along just fine. Hit and Run checks all the boxes: mystery, romance, happy ending with a shipload of adventure in between. The loss of a star is for two reasons: 1. the premise Dani borrowing some code from a powerhouse counts as a tstl moment and 2. I'm all for being a strong woman but if you need help and a hero swoops in, you don't try to thwart his every move because of your independence. Throughout the book, the latter was a struggle for me. I couldn't find a single thing wrong with Gage who was alpha, gorgeous and with the patience of a saint. Secondary characters, including the Callahan brothers, Dani's landlord in AK and some helpers on a cruise ship added interest and humor.

If you're up for an adventure with a banter, some often amusing byplay and a bit of mystery, I'd recommend Hit and Run. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc on which this review is based.

The story raced from scene to scene with almost no downtime. Dani is an exceptional hacker. And is contracted to develop a sophisticated facial recognition system to assist Jamison Drake to find his missing sister. Dani is being followed and feels threatened and asks for protection from Drake, and Gage Callahan arrives to protect her. From that moment on, the pace is non-stop as Dani and Gage race to avoid capture and death.

Hit and Run is the third book in the Callahan Security series.

My issue is I saw no development of the romance. They were so busy avoiding capture that every scene they landed in a new drama. Now, this would not be a problem if this was a thriller, but Hit and Run is a romantic suspense. I still don’t grasp how their romance developed. My other issue was Gage hated hackers; he blamed hackers for providing intelligence that killed his best friend. Well, if Gage didn’t say once, he must have said or thought it over a dozen times. “I hate hackers;” therefore, Gage feels he can’t fall in love with Dani. I found Dani at times to be obstructionist and annoying. So I guess you could say I didn’t like this story.
Lori Matthews has a gift for plotting and a fast-paced, exciting story. The majority of the story was set on a cruise ship travelling through the Inside Passage to Vancouver. The story is action-packed.
Read this story for the thriller with a touch of romance. I still give the story three stars, but for me, as a romantic suspense reader, it didn’t hit the brief. I was provided this copy by NetGalley for an honest review.

Boom! This book begins with a bang and just keeps running!

After following Dani's trail all over Europe, Gage finally has her in his sites. Her ability to prevaricate, has kept her safe so far, but now she really needs Gage's help. As a top level hacker, Dani 'helped herself' to facial recognition software developed by a foreign government, trying to help a friend find her family. They're not happy and want their intellectual property back.

Hit and Run follows Dani and Gage running from one situation to another, using Dani's hacking skills to get them to safety, and if that fails, using Gage's guts and brawn. Soon, they realize there is a mole somewhere in the organization Dani and Gage are working for. It's not difficult to figure out who is working against them and I was surprised that Dani and Gage were surprised when they finally figured it out! Then, there is the granny brigade who help Dani when she thinks she needs to get away from Gage and they are hilarious!

Suspense, romance, and hilarity. This book was predictable in the end, but it did hit all my buttons. I really enjoyed Hit and Run. It is the third book by Lori Matthews in the Callihan Security series. I do recommend reading the series in order. There is so much back story in the first two books, and I feel that history is needed to fully appreciate Hit and Run.

Gabe and Dani do not trust each other when they first meet. He saw his best friend die in Iraq due to the enemy had hack into military intelligence and gave them the wrong information. Gage had been ordered to find his friend and attempt to save him - he was too late. To this day Gage had never trusted hackers.

Dani does not trust easily after being raised in the foster care system - her foster mom was abusive to her as she was growing up. Dani remembers her foster mother forcing her to learn to swim by forcing her in deep water and to survive by swimming to her. To this day Dani can not be around the ocean or a large body of water without having a panic attack,.

Dani and Gabe meet after he has been attempting to find her in Europe to protect her against someone attempting to kill her . Dani has managed to keep her location in Alaska a secret until a woman resembling her is killed. Dani calls her contact to request help with keeping her alive.

Gabe learns after meeting Dani that she was hired to hack and develop a face recognizing software for a major hotel company. She stole the main program from China and believes they are trying to kill her to get the program back.

The story read like a comedy of errors, but it also is an action adventure, ex-military story that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat throughout the story..

Hit and Run is my first book by Lori Matthews, and whilst I did enjoy it part of me wishes I had read the previous stories in this series not that it would be necessary to understand this one, but because when it starts it feels like it's picking up a story rather than beginning one. So for me, I felt like I didn't quite have the whole picture. But it certainly lived up to the genre, and it had some moments of action going on, not to mention some humour. Thanks to a group of grannie's, who Dani befriends whilst she and Gabe are trying to make their way safely back from Alaska. And I did quite like Dani and Gabe, but I wasn't one hundred percent convinced by their romance. Plus, I felt like the ending was too neat and tidy, especially considering how they initially parted. Yet all in all it was a satisfying and intriguing story, and having a second chance to read it error free really helped me discover that. Which is why I changed my rating from 3.75 to 4 stars.

Would recommend, especially to anyone who is a fan of the series. 🙂

Dani has been leading the Callahan Security team on a merry chase. gage has been trawling Europe for her but she has been hiding out in Alaska! It takes her attaining a possible assassin to make her wise up and admit where she is hiding! She may be a great hacker but she is a crappy informant LOL.

Gage starts off in a bad mood and not exactly wanting to be Dani's knight in shining armour. Sure She's pretty but she is also a hacker - he through she was a dweeb in a lab somewhere, a genuine IT whizzkid.

I read an ARC copy from NetGalley and I had to become a bit of a code breaker as lots of words had the “fi”,“ff” and “th” missing. It didn't corrupt the story but did make it exceedingly jarring to read. I do hope that has been fixed in the copy now released.

Solid 3.5 star read in my opinion, only let down was the missing letters. Gage was fabulously grouchy and Dani really knew how to punch his buttons. Some of the best scenes were on a Cruise ship with some very entertaining OAPS!

Great, fast paced suspense.
Dani is a hacker, hired to develop a facial recognition software, but someone desperately wants to steal it from her. Gage and his brothers, who own a security company, have been hired to protect her as she finishes the program. The problem is someone is feeding the enemy information and Dani and Gage can't seem to escape them. Can Gage and his brothers discover who the mole is and protect Dani so she can finish what she started?
This story flowed so easily, had action, romance and even some humor. Truly enjoyed this book .
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

3.5-3.75 stars

I had the chance to receive a new copy of this from NetGalley that fixed the issues that I had with the e-copy I had originally gotten. Thank goodness. Whereas in that book I could hardly read it, I finally got to get into the story and was much better than I anticipated it. I had not read the previous books in this series and did not feel as if I was missing anything, other than the interest to see the previous characters in their own stories.

Enemies to lovers is a favorite trope of mine, so this book had that going for it. I enjoyed Gage and Dani but there was some spark missing. I wanted more. Even as great as the beginning of the story was somehow it fizzled a little. I am glad that I came back to the book and gave it another chance as it was enjoyable, It just had the promise to be so much more.

Fast paced action, keeps you on the edge of your seat:
I enjoyed catching up with the Callahan brothers and the culmination of the series. These books definitely need to be read in order and I wished the author had of provided a few more hints at the beginning of this one to remind us what had transpired previously.
I liked that there was an emotional depth to the story and whilst there were some light-hearted and fun moments (largely thanks to the grannies), there were also some sad and more intense times too. I loved all of the mystery and suspense, yet the romance was great too. These brothers all seem to have a soft spot for "bad" girls! Gage and Dani initially clash yet walls start to come down the more time they spend together. There are however a number of obstacles to be overcome on the way to their HEA.
Overall an enjoyable and suspense-filled read although I wished that there had of been more closure as some threads were left unexplained.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

I could not finish this book. The characters seemed one dimensional and a little immature and I wasn't caught up in the action.
