I love audiobooks. I love being able to do two things at the same time so when Netgalley announced they were going to be audiobooks ARCs available very soon, I got excited. A Change In Tide is the first audiobook I got this way and I can't be more happy to listen to a romance to start.

Unfortunately, I feel like the app might have some problems especially since I kept feeling like the chapters were all mixed up and I had to check every time if it didn't skip a chapter (going from chapter 3 to 5, 6 to 8 etc.) Now, I don't think it's an audiobook problem as I've seen the same comment somewhere else about another audiobook. My only hope is that Netgalley will see this issue and fix it.

Now, about this book!

A Change in Tide follows Mia, a woman living in a cottage on the lake. After an accident in a subway, she kept having panic attacks when she left her home so she moved where very few people are around. She has to deal with PTSD and agoraphobia. The only thing breaking her peace is the new neighbor and player, Jared. The first time she sees him is naked and having sex with a blonde woman. When his pregnant sister visits him and start her labour early, Mia who used to be a midwife doesn't hesitate to give her help. From there, Jared and here will only get closer and closer.

I was immediately hooked by the audiobook. The narrators did a really good job (even though the female narrator had some cracking in the background at the beginning). Overall, I enjoyed it!

(Thank you for letting me listen and review an ARC via Netgalley)

I really love audiobooks, so when I was given a chance to review A Change in Tide, I decided to go for it. I've listened to Tor Thom before and really liked him before. This book was a first for Charley Ongel, and I really enjoyed her as well, and can't wait to listen to more from her.

This story is told from dual points of view by Mia and Jared. They both live off the grid and are neighbors. Mia's life changed when a crowded subway blacked out and she has panic attacks ever since. Jared has a career-ending injury to hockey and moved there to get away from fans.

Together Mia and Jared work through their battles, and help each other. Can Mia overcome her fears to be there for Mia. Can Jared go back to the hockey world and have Mia in his life.

I really liked this book, and the narrators were fantastic!

This started out as an easy, laid back sort of read, which I really appreciate during a pandemic. There’s only so much I can wrap my brain around that is “extra” these days, so I enjoyed how consumable this one was. However, it grew deeper the longer I read, which I also appreciated.

The audio narration, by Charley Ongel and Tor Thom, was good. I liked Charley Ongel a lot. She has the kind of voice that is just so easy to listen to and compliments but doesn’t distract from the story. Tor Thom has a very deep voice that I found soothing and sexy.

My only complaint with this one is that there is just a bit too much telling and not quite enough showing at the beginning of the book. I confess, I sometimes zoned out in the beginning and had to rewind, but the longer I listened, the better it got. It pulled me in with time, and I almost forgot that I even had any concerns at the start. So if you start this one and feel a bit uncertain, just keep onward, until you get to the heart of the story.

A Change In Tide is a standalone contemporary romance by Freya Barker. I read this in the form of audiobook courtesy from NetGalley, using their new NetGalley Shelf app.

I have no issues with the storyline, I quite enjoyed it. This is a solid story with pretty decent fleshed out characters, steamy sexy moments and good pacing. My huge issue is however with the NetGalley app itself. While I have no problems downloading e-books, I have a lot of difficulty downloading the audiobook. It took me 3 times to download the audiobook successfully and even then, it took me 2hours and 45minutes to do so! When it comes to reading the book, it skipped pages! If I were to pause a page, it didn't continue on the same page. The app is still a mess and hopefully NetGalley will do something about it.

This is the first book I've read from Freya Barker and I enjoyed it. Mia and Jared are neighbors and I love how they build a little family with Jared's sister and her child. Jared was a hockey star forced to retire and through the relationship, they had to deal with the issues associated with his fame but also her past (she can't be in crowds which is why she isolated herself in the area). I think that the relationships were beautifully built and described although sometimes, the story felt like it was going a bit too slowly. But overall, I enjoyed the story.

I love that NetGalley now has audiobooks and this audiobook was well done, overall. Charley Ongel's male voice feels a bit forced and overdone while Tor Thom's deep voice is very beautiful but he still did a pretty good job making his feminine voice relatively natural. Overall, I enjoyed the narration. Thanks NetGalley!

Jared has been living in the fast lane but now that an injury has permanently benched him he is trying to find his footing again. He builds a wilderness retreat across the lake from Mia. Mia is suffering from PTSD and has secluded herself in her small cabin in the woods enjoying the quiet until that is Jared arrives, with his smokin hot body and her ability to oggle him from across the lake. When Jared's very pregnant sister comes to live with him and they get caught out on the lake when her water breaks Mia arrives to the rescue as a trained midwife and becomes caught up in their lives.

Two people with past tragedies in common find love in each others arms. This is a really nice well written romance. The narration was good and there were some steamy scenes but not extremely graphic. I really enjoyed it I'm going to have to look for other books by this author.

What I was able to listen to,the narrators are fantastic! I really would like to know where the story goes! New to doing this on Net Gallery but I'm so glad this is available! I have a kindle e-reader and kindle fire, didn't have a problem with downloading this one but I did on another! Again, would love to see what happens! There is some crude language in what little bit I was able to listen to,I thought I was going to be able to listen to the whole story. Disappointed for me but if there's a lot of the crude language,no matter how great the story seems to be of the characters or the writing style,I won't finish the book. That's just me,I figure there's other words that can be used in place.
