I like this authors writing style.
It lacked pace and excitement. I did like some of the twists.
I am not a huge fan of the slow burn

Hours after giving birth, Romilly has disappeared without any trace, leaving her newborn daughter alone at the hospital. Her husband arrives and raises the alarm. She is after all being monitored for postpartum psychosis.

Romilly's sister and best friend rush to support Marc to look after his daughter, but things are not as they seem.

How can anyone know who to believe? Can Romilly even trust her own mind?

Difficult subject matter but a gripping and compelling read.

A story that propels you right into the middle of the action. Why has Romilly disappeared. Find out why through the eyes of her friends, family and husband.

I much preferred her previous book.
Having said that, I do enjoy her style of writing and her authors leadership pulling us reading along the path she wants us to take, however, this time I wasn’t fully in or on the path and the path lacked pace so I sort of waddled along behind the author not knowing if I wanted to continue at times. But I did because of course I wanted to know why after giving birth at the hospital a mother could abandon her newborn baby, her husband and just take off. No word, no explanation.

It didn’t have me on the edge of my seat needing to know these things…more like nosiness.

It’s not a new concept, authors have written this topic before yet there were some pretty good twists which had me saying “yep, that’s a good one”.

I will still read her next book because I simply loved her book before this one.

Five Days Missing is a story that follows a woman who just had a baby. Right after giving birth she goes missing for five days and then is found. There is also a history of postpartum psychosis so everyone is trying to figure out what happened to her.

Unfortunately this book was a DNF. I have a hard time reading books about new moms every since I became a new mom (which is my fault not the authors) so it has to be really good for me to continue reading that trope. And this one was not. I think the beginning was just too slow for me and I did not connect with any of the characters or what was going on. If I were to continue with this book, I needed something more that I did not get.

I think this book would work for a lot of people and it probably does pick up at some point. It just was not for me unfortunately. Thanks so much to netgalley and Avon for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Romilly and Marc appear to be very happy and awaiting the birth of their first child but when Romilly disappears from the hospital leaving behind her new baby girl, Where could she have gone and why would she have left her daughter behind.

There is a history of Postpartum depression in the family so her sister and best friend rally round to help Marc cope with a newborn whilst worrying over where Romilly could have gone.

Somebody knows the truth - but who and what do they know?

The story is told from three of the characters perspective over the five day period and whilst its a slow starter, this helps to build up the connection with the characters.

A book to make you really think. Full of twists and turns and unanswered questions, which are slowly answered as the book progresses. Quite an unexpected ending.

Just one day after Romilly gave birth to a girl she disappeared. Romilly is at risk for postpartum depression and her husband, Marc, is afraid that Romilly may have done something herself. Marc contacts Romilly’s sister, Loll, who calls the police about the missing woman and then comes to stay with Marc and help with the baby. Marc does not care for Loll and the feeling is mutual with her. The days pass, so the book goes back and forth to random characters that the family knows, all with their own opinions on what could have happened to Romilly. Finally Marc names the baby Fleur. Marc wants to be the one to care for her his way instead but Loll wants to take charge and raise her her way. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.

A fabulous, fast-paced read where lies and deceptions pile on top of each of other through a series of plot twists that act as solid hooks to keep you turning pages. It's a compelling read with a cast of unique characters, none of whom are quite who they seem. A great read, highly recommended.

It honestly took me a bit to get into Five Days Missing but once I did, I really enjoyed it. The storyline was excellent and I loved the ending. Can’t wait to see what this author comes with next.

Why would a mother suddenly leave her baby at the hospital immediately after giving birth? Five Days Missing is the gripping novel that goes into detail through the main characters of Romilly (the mother), her husband Marc, and her best friend Steffie.

I found this novel fast-paced, dark and twisty in all the right ways. I didn’t expect the route it took when I started and was pleasantly surprised by the red herrings and the endings. Definitely pick this one up!

I was apprehensive about this thriller going in. I was afraid the book would be overdone in trying to make the action seem more exciting, but I was pleasantly surprised in the beginning. The setup is smart, and the way in which the perspectives shift propels the story forward in an organic way. The short chapters end in clever ways that keep the reader intrigued. However, it was overwhelming at times when every single character's integrity and intentions were being questioned. Rather than working together to find this missing person (who obviously doesn't want to be found), they all suspect each other, making all the characters extremely unlikeable.

Even though the disappearance of a new mother is obviously a big deal, I couldn't help but ponder how the story would be different if the roles were reversed; if a new dad disappeared right after the birth of his baby. I assume the mother wouldn't be quite so helpless and focused on finding her spouse, more so intent on taking care of her newborn.

I felt very torn throughout the reading process. I really wanted to find out what happened and the writing was very well-done in parts. But the unreliable nature of every single narration was exhausting and I completely lost interest.

On the whole this was a good read but just a little too slow for me in places. At first I wasn't over keen on the style of writing but I soon got used to it. The characters built throughout the story and although a little predictable it did have some twists and turns.

Thank you Netgalley.

This amazing book deals with the little-known topic of postpartum psychosis.

It’s a heartbreaking story, and it won’t be for everyone. I wondered if the author had perhaps gone through this herself?
